My WORD from the Lord from Susan Maupin Hi, I d like to share something special that happened recently that s never happened before: April 20, 2016 on a Wed pm at Jack & Sue s {extended family}: During closing prayer, Dorothy said Jesus is our only hope. I immediately hear the word ANCHOR. I first thought my mind had wandered off to our recent fishing trip. However, I kept hearing the word anchor. I have never had this happen before. I shared the word with the group. It sounds like a word that should be in the Bible but I didn t know if or where. Maybe Psalms? I went home and found it in Heb. 6:19 - We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. Next day, Anne texted me to say that she heard a song on KLTY on the way to work. The chorus was hope is an anchor!! Okay, so my mind was not wandering about the big fish I had caught. Thank you, Lord, for the confirmation but especially for the word of encouragement. That week, I was at Dollar Tree looking at books for the grandkids and found some nice gift books like Simple Grace & Love & Strength & Hope Anchors the Soul. OMG - another confirmation. The next week, I was visiting my friend before her pancreatic cancer surgery so I gave her the hope anchors the soul book and shared the encouraging word the Lord had given me the week before. She was blessed!! The next day, Wednesday 4/27, I saw Dr Preskitt because my tongue was looking suspicious of cancer again. He burned off an area in the office. I started to wonder if this was why the Lord gave me a word of encouragement the week before. That Sunday am, I was checking to see how the burned area was healing and I saw a different spot that to me looked very much like my first cancer spot. The fear started to creep in & I felt sick. When I arrived at church I went through the cafeteria to drop off food for the luncheon and John Shaver called me over. Bill Thorogood, Betty Spillman, and Mona Dolly were there with oil in hand and an empty chair. John says we want to pray a healing prayer for you. I plopped down in the chair shocked by his words because no one knew my concerns. I sat there crying but the Lord removed the fear and filled me with peace and I hugged them all and headed to the front door to tell Larry what just happened. That Sunday afternoon, the Bible art journaling group was going to meet at our house. I usually go visit my sister but since she cancelled our time together I decided to stay because they were not doing art but praying about the leadership of the group. Anyway, at the end of meeting this lady Cindy who was new to group said that she wasn t too sure about drawing in her Bible so she stopped and bought a store s last journal for her drawing. Well her book had a large anchor on front with HOPE written on it and Heb. 6:19 on the bottom!!! After explaining my excitement about the anchor she said that she thought the book was for me, so she gave it to me. Thank you, Jesus!

The next day, Monday 5/21, I read Charles Stanley s devotional for Sunday & Monday. He spoke about life s trials and sufferings {1Peter} and made reference to hope being our anchor. Wow and I say wow! Later that morning I went to Pat s to preview the DVD for class that week. I told Pat, Linda & Judy the whole anchor story. I was mixed with laughter and tears. PTL! PTL! Then Pat says wouldn t it be funny if it was in our lesson! Well. Sure enough the first fill-in-the-blank in our workbook is ANCHOR. Beth Moore was teaching on the tabernacle in Exodus and referred to Heb ; verses 19 & 20. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. The next day I go to Ft Worth for a grandma day with Skylar (2 years old). I was able to share all of this with my son Michael & wife Steph while the girls were outside playing. The next day, Wednesday, I went back to Dr. Preskitt to check this new spot on my tongue. He reassured me it was not cancer. PTL! PTL! The next Monday, Steph stays home with Madison (almost 5 years old) because she is sick. Madison colors a page in her new color book and yes.it is an anchor! She brings it to Steph and says that this is for Grandma Susan for Mother s Day!! Steph freaks and sends me a phone photo of it. Then I freak!! PTL! PTL! Pat & Linda & Judy were over to watch the DVD for this week s lesson. So once again we looked at each other in amazement!! Thank you, Thank you sweet Jesus! The next week, Madison was sick again so I went over on Wed. to be with her. We stayed busy playing cards and board games. I told her I was going to frame the coloring she had given me because it was very special to me. She smiled Big. I asked her if she knew what an anchor was and she said that it couldn t move. I asked her if she knew what hope meant and she that it was like when she hoped for a bike. I said that in the Bible the anchor refers to hope and our hope is Jesus. She then said that it was like when we hoped & prayed for Nana to get well. I then asked her why she colored the picture for me. She quickly & with excitement said, God wanted me to. I have told this story to many already and I still get the Holy Ghost goose bumps!! I am enjoying sharing this message of hope to anyone and everyone! His word is our anchor in times of trials.

Order of St. Luke By Sharon Parker The Order of St. Luke the Physician is an inter-denominational, international ministry for healing of body, mind and spirit. Col. 1:16 For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. The following article is from Malcomb Self, the director of OSL Region V. He has given the conveners of the different OSL chapters permission to send this message on to all. I think it is particularly meaningful in this time of election madness and may speak to your heart about praying for our current and future elected officials. Hello Mighty Saints, About five years ago, I had a dream about a friend named Mark. In the dream Mark and I were walking down a path to church. He was wearing a long-sleeve white dress shirt. As we neared the church, he reached down into the shrubs and pulled out a snake. The snake was nonpoisonous. He examined the snake, and then let it go. Right before the entrance to the church, Mark rolled up his sleeves and reached into a pit of poisonous snakes. I was shocked and upset. I told him that was a dangerous thing to do. End of dream. For years Mark and I have tried to discern the meaning of this dream. Every time we got together we would discuss it. Last year, Mark decided to run for the Louisiana state legislature. Right after being notified that he had won the election, a friend of his said he was now headed to the snake pit! The revelation of my dream was now apparent. God showed me about Mark s successful campaign years before he decided to run. Amazing! Several days ago, while I was in my morning prayer time, God revealed another part of that dream to me. He showed me that I was not just a distant spectator, but was by Mark s side throughout the dream. The Lord wanted me to be an intercessor for Mark while he was in the legislature. His white shirt represented purity and righteousness. My job as an intercessor is to pray for him. An interesting side note is that I greatly dislike politics and all the in-fighting and back-room deals associated with it. However, God has called me to pray for a politician. I don t think it is a great leap of faith to say that God has called us all to intercede for our nation s leaders, especially those in Washington, for discipline, purity, and righteousness. Our nation is in trouble. I think at this point in time, only God can save us. Blessings, Malcolm

The OSL Region V has also planned a Healing Conference on Friday, September 30 through October 1 and it is featuring Chauncey Crandall, MD, a Yale-trained cardiologist who will speak to us about his personal journey with God and how he has learned to speak the name of our Lord Jesus Christ with power and authority to transform illness and death into health and life. We are fortunate that this conference will be held in Dallas at St. Luke s Episcopal Church. This is close enough that we can attend and not have to stay at a hotel. Please consider joining us there. You do not have to be a member of OSL to do so. Registration forms will be available soon. There will not be a brunch/meeting for our OSL Chapter here at Transformation in the month of July. The next brunch/meeting for our OSL Chapter here at Transformation will be on Saturday, August 20 th, beginning with the pot luck brunch at 10:00. And of course it will be in the HCA cafeteria. All are welcome! Austin Street Center By Sharon Parker And if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. Isaiah 58:10 We at Transformation Anglican Church are proud to assist the Austin Street Center in feeding the homeless who find their way to this wonderful facility. ASC has become nationally recognized for its unique therapeutic program for the homeless. Not only does the Center offer safe, clean shelter and an evening meal for about 360 to 400 men and women each night, but it provides substance abuse treatment, medical and psychiatric care, adult rehabilitation, a transitional living facility and a beautiful interdenominational Chapel. It is an emergency overnight shelter for men and women experiencing homelessness. Nightly availability is determined on a first-come, first-served basis from the beginning of intake, usually 2:00 for women and 4:00 for the men, until about 6:00 pm. Transformation provides sandwiches, chips, pickles, boiled eggs, fruit, cupcakes and milk plus apple juice. Your donations to the ministry are so vital for the continuation of this program. Whenever there is a 5 th Wednesday in a month, then you can know that we will be going downtown to feed clients. They are always so grateful and we have a good time of fellowship. If you are wondering what else you may do for the homeless, they can always use shampoo (small, hotel size is always good) lotion sun block, insect repellant, towels, and coffee. These can be brought to Larry and Susan Maupin s house on the

Wednesday that we are scheduled to provide food, and we will take them down to the Shelter when we go. Thank you, Transformation brothers and sisters, for all you do for the homeless. This is one of the things Jesus commanded us to do when he told Peter to feed his sheep. For more information, contact Susan Maupin, Sue Griffin, or Sharon Parker. Anglican Vocabulary Unveiled This month, our section on terms used in the Anglican Church will continue on ornaments and holy things. There are two sorts of liturgical bells in the history of the Christian Church church bells in spires or towers used to call the faithful to worship, and sanctuary bells, called sanctus bells, used to call attention to the coming of Christ in the Holy Eucharist. It is traditional that no bells be rung during Advent or Lent, as these are seasons of preparation, meditation, and reflection as we get ready for two of the major feast days of the liturgical year Christmas and Easter. The voices of church bells speak to mourning, to devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, to the call to prayer, and to occasions of great joy. A paten is usually a circular, metal plate, approximately 6 7 inches in diameter, on which the Eucharistic bread is placed during the Great Thanksgiving (the prayer of consecration) and the distribution of the elements. Most patens have a curved outer edge to better hold the bread or wafers. Patens have been partially replaced by a metal cup (resembling a chalice with a lid) called a ciborium. This vessel holds the wafers or bread pieces more safely, and the paten may only be used to hold the priest s host. The paten usually comes as part of a set with the chalice, a large cup with a pedestal for serving the wine, so that the paten can nest on top of the chalice in preparation for the celebration. The use of holy oil in the early Church derived its uses from Jewish practice. Three sorts of oils were widely used: 1) oil for exorcism (used to anoint catechumens preparing to receive baptism), 2) oil for baptism (also known as chrism or the oil of thanksgiving, used to anoint the newly baptized as they emerge from the water), and 3) oil for the sick (also known as the oil of gladness, used to anoint those who are ill). Today, blessed oil is used at baptisms and when anointing the sick. The use of holy water by the early Church was both sacramental and ceremonial, being seen as a powerful symbol and metaphor of the Judeo-Christian experience and ultimately, the water of baptism. A common practice in ancient English churches, which is being revived today, was to take holy water from a water stoup near the main door upon entering and leaving the church as a reminder of one s baptism. One would dip the middle finger of the right hand into the water, touch it to the forehead and then make the sign of the cross.

Update from Our Friends Place Helping Young Women Soar to Success! Thanks to each of you: TAC is one of Our Friends Place s (OFP) faithful supporters. You help young women break the generational cycles of abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness. Our Friends Place Who we are: OFP has been serving girls and young women, 18 24, in the North Texas region for over 25 years through our Transitional Living Center Program (TLC). OFP helps young women who are homeless, live in poverty, have aged out of foster care, are escaping abuse and neglect, or come from families that cannot offer the support needed to become economically self-sufficient. The TLC program stresses the importance of education, career planning, financial literacy, and self-reliance. OFP s supportive shared apartment living enables young women to enroll in an educational or vocational program, hold a job, pay a portion of their earnings as rent and savings, attend weekly group learning sessions, and receive individual, weekly extensive case management. OFP helps young women launch, with the tools to lead self-sufficient lives. QUIN a Success made possible through your Gifts: For Quin s 18 th birthday her mother kicked her out. She was a senior in high school and sought refuge at OFP. OFP provided Quin a stable home and support system, while building her self-esteem, financial literacy, as well as education, job, and life skills needed for self-sufficiency. With OFP s support, Quin graduated from Lincoln High School on time! Quin was accepted to UNT, moved into a dorm and began her college career. When holidays and summer came around, she was again homeless. During these times, she returned to her OFP family and continued to work the program. Her junior year she was able to afford her own apartment, yet stay connected to OFP. She began giving back, doing her senior internship at OFP! Quin graduated in four years with her bachelor s degree and was quickly employed full-time. For a year Quin even served on the OFP board. She resigned due to beginning her Masters!! With TAC s help, Quin is a SUCCESS not a statistic! How YOU Can Help: Pray for both our young women and our staff Give your time on special projects (i.e. stamp, stuff & seal) or committees Gather items our young women need Give a financial gift For More Information: Go to Contact Sue Thiers Hesseltine at , Sue.Hesseltine@OurFriendsPlace.org

Haiti Partnership Happenings! Thank you for your many prayers for the Haiti ministry and especially for the team that traveled to Haiti in April. The TAC relationship with this ministry has deepened significantly over the last three years. In February 2015 three TAC members Glenna McLane, Hal Hines, John Shaver journeyed to Haiti for the first time along with Susan Meeder the partnership lead. Your faithful prayers, gifts of support & visits are a huge blessing to the Haitian students and families as well as the travelling teams! PARTNERSHIP OVERVIEW This partnership centers on St. Jean Baptiste (SJB) primary school in the impoverished rural area of Savanette, about four hours southwest of Port-au- Prince. Construction of an eight-classroom building was completed in This original building housed nine grades 3 & 4 year old pre-school, kindergarten and primary 1 6. In 2007, a team from the then-sponsoring Kansas church visited the school and met with the teachers the first ever such meeting. God used this visit to turn other team member hearts toward the school and the focus on the school began. In the goodness of God s timing, this focused approach on our part coincided with Pere Colbert being assigned as the priest-in-charge of SJB School. We have seen how walking together in the same direction with the SJB students and families these past nine years is making a major difference. Through God s generous provision, all students have received a meal cooked by volunteer moms each school day since October All teachers now meet the qualification standards; there are enough textbooks and school supplies; and a new roof has replaced the very drippy original tin roof. All of this in a Christian setting near where they live! Praise be to God!! Currently there are 244 students enrolled in the pre-school and primary classes. Adding in grades 7, 8 and 9 which have been added in the last three years, there are a total of 306 students that are fed a meal of rice and beans each school day! Over time, we pray our continued commitment will significantly contribute to raising up trustworthy and wise leaders who will change Haitian society for the good of all and bring glory to God! PERE COLBERT AT TAC IN AUGUST In the true spirit of partnership, Pere (Father) Colbert, the partner priest, will be worshiping with us on Sunday, 7 August! We were blessed to have him visit TAC last August for the first time and are delighted that he is able to come again this year.
