This is the Word of the Lord Thanks be to God Deacon s Dialogue By: Rev. Mr. Richard Kasprzak Have you ever tried to reason with a computer? I just spent over an hour trying to download SKYPE onto my Toshiba computer, which I took along with me up North for a few days. Now we Deacons, along with one fellow ex-deacon, now a priest, meet twice a week to keep up with things and to join in with common prayers. For some reason, I must have removed the SKYPE program from this computer, and naturally I tried to download it and reinstall it. So I got online, went to the proper website to get started, spent fifteen minutes trying to get the download started, and could not. I tried my passwords, which did not work. Then Microsoft put me into password reset mode, and then I noticed that I was in Elizabeth s space, not mine. So I went into my space, and started all over. First thing I noticed that my password no longer was acknowledged. So I went to try to reset it. Unfortunately, in order to reset it, I had to go into a different mail account, which canceled my time available to reset the password. And when I did get back to the proper session, everything had timed out and I had to start all over again. So back to work. After going through the process, I still could not get back on in time, as the internet is so slow, before everything gets worked through, it all is timed out again. So I stopped, shut it all down, went back to our trailer and started the Dialogue. Sitting here and looking out the window at the lake, it is very peaceful outside. It s a very small lake, maybe less than 20 acres. Good fishing, no gas motors allowed, just electric, sail or paddle. For some reason, it is called White Birch Lake, maybe because of the trees around it. The property is about 2000 acres, and has five or six small lakes. You see a lot of golf carts and gasoline runabouts, some cycles also. Very pretty. We shall be returning Wednesday, back to the doctor on Thursday. When Jesus raised his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, he said to Philip, Where can we buy enough food for them to eat? He said this to test him, because he himself knew what he was going to do. Philip answered him, Two hundred days wages worth of food would not be enough for each of them to have a little. One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him, There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many? Jesus said, Have the people recline. Now there was a great deal of grass in that place. So the men reclined, about five thousand in number. Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were reclining, and also as much of the fish as they wanted. When they had had their fill, he said to his disciples, Gather the fragments left over, so that nothing will be wasted. So they collected them, and filled twelve wicker baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves that had been more than they could eat. When the people saw the sign he had done, they said, This is truly the Prophet, the one who is to come into the world. Amen. A Note From the Pastor We are exiting July and moving into August. The days are getting shorter, and we begin to realize that we are closer and closer to autumn and winter. The cycle of the seasons is indeed a gift from God, and we thank Him for all things in all seasons. John Our Savior Recipe Section This week s recipe is by Laura Pearce, friend of the Parish: 1 lb asparagus, trimmed 3 tbsp olive oil 1 1/2 tbps Parmesan cheese 1 clove garlic, minced salt and pepper to taste 1 tbsp lemon juice Roasted Asparagus Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. 2. Place asparagus in a bowl, combine with olive oil, Parmesan, garlic, salt, and pepper; toss to coat. Arrange asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet. 3. Volunteer Oportunities We are looking for volunteers to help with two specific areas. Number one, we are in need of an editor for the Spirit of Our Savior Newsletter. Since the passing of Eugene Krysztof, Fr. John has been handling the duties, but we feel that this is better done by a parishioner. The second area we are looking for a volunteer is with an enhancement of our Social Media ministry. We are looking to expand into Twitter and Instagram, but are in need of someone who is capable of making regular postings in the voice of the Parish. Please see Fr.
