3 From the LifeLine Screening Organization: May is Stroke Awareness Month A stroke occurs every 40 seconds and yet up to 80% of strokes can be prevented. This is why Our Savior Polish National Catholic Church is hosting Life Line Screening, the nation s leading provider of preventive health screenings on Thursday, May 2, Screenings are fast, painless and affordable. Three key tests check for blocked carotid arteries, an irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation, and high blood pressure, which are the three leading risk factors for stroke. Nearly 800,000 strokes will occur this year, taking a life approximately every four minutes. Stroke can change your life, but it can also take your life. Please consider taking part in these potentially life-saving screenings. We are happy to announce that Life Line Screening is working with us to provide our members $10 discounts off any screening package (priced at $149 and higher) in addition to a $10 donation to Our Savior Polish National Catholic Church. Together were Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, Zebedee s sons, and two others of his disciples. Simon Peter said to them, I am going fishing. They said to him, We also will come with you. So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. When it was already dawn, Jesus was standing on the shore; but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, Children, have you caught anything to eat? They answered him, No. So he said to them, Cast the net over the right side of the boat and you will find something. So they cast it, and were not able to pull it in because of the number of fish. So the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, It is the Lord. When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he tucked in his garment, for he was lightly clad, and jumped into the sea. The other disciples came in the boat, for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards, dragging the net with the fish. When they climbed out on shore, they saw a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread. Jesus said to them, Bring some of the fish you just caught. So Simon Peter went over and dragged the net ashore full of one hundred fifty-three large fish. Even though there were so many, the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, Come, have breakfast. And none of the disciples dared to ask him, Who are you? because they realized it was the Lord. Jesus came over and took the bread and gave it to them, and in like manner the fish. This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples April 14, Our Savior Recipe Page This week s recipe is by Fr. John: Peppercorn Flat Iron Steak 1 Flat Iron Steak 1/4 c. Melted Butter 2 Tbsp. Freshly Ground Black Pepper 2 Tbsp. Rosemary 2 Tbsp. Italian Seasoning Mix together last 4 ingredients in a bowl. Pre-heat gas grill to medium-high. Place Flat Iron Steak on grill and spoon or brush on the mixture. Close lid and cook for 3 minutes. Turn steak and brush on other side. Cook additional 3 minutes. Flip and brush 2 more times, cooking for 3 minutes each time. Finish by moving to lowest rack and cooking for 90 seconds on each side to sear the meat. Cut and serve.
