2 Featured Speakers for the Bible Institute Most Reverend Archbishop Dennis Schnurr will celebrate the Eucharistic Liturgy on Sunday July 24 at 2:30pm in Bellarmine Chapel. Appointed Archbishop of Cincinnati in 2009., he travels extensively throughout the Archdiocese as he serves his flock. Come join him for the Sunday Eucharistic Liturgy. Father Rob Jack will examine how a sound devotion to Mary is marked by a strong apostolic life. This is exemplified in the Worldwide Association of the Legion of Mary, begun by Frank Duff, whose cause for canonization is being considered by the Church. Father Niby Kinnai belongs to Carmelites of Mary Immaculate Order. He is a Parochial Vicar in the Diocese of Covington KY., and a doctoral candidate in Counseling from University of Cincinnati. He is founder of Carmel Ministries of Mary Immaculate (carmelmin.com). He will lead the Tuesday evening Healing Service. Deacon Ralph Poyo grounds his ministry in his relationship with the Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit. He is extremely passionate about helping people experience the person of Christ in everyday life. Come to Adoration on Thursday evening to hear more. Bill Richart is a Catholic lay evangelist, teacher, and musician. He ministers at conferences, retreats, parishes, jails, and schools; encouraging all to grow deeper in their faith through the power of the Holy Spirit. He is teaching the Practical Evangelization course on Tuesday and Wednesday. He will also lead the Evening of Healing Praise on Monday evening. 2 Most Reverend Bishop Joseph R. Binzer will celebrate the Closing Eucharistic Liturgy on Friday, July 29th at 7:30pm in Gallagher Theater. He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Cincinnati in He is a native of Cincinnati and has served as Chancellor of the Archdiocese for several years. Father Chris Clay comes from St. Paul Parish, Lexington KY every year to celebrate the Opening Eucharistic Liturgy on Friday evening at 7:30pm on July 22. YOUTH PROGRAM Dan DeMatte will present a day long program designed to invite young people to walk the road with Christ. He is a speaker and evangelist who challenges young men and women to live a life of radical holiness a holiness that produces saints, not mere mediocre Catholics. Dan is a Youth Minister, national speaker, retreat leader, and program director for a high adventure youth camp (Catholic Youth Summer Camp) aimed at drawing young people into the adventure of their Catholic faith. Come to the talks titled Hear the Word, Encounter the Word on a personal level, and share what you heard and go Preach the Word by your choices. Youth Day Requirements To ensure that all get the benefit of the seminar: An adult chaperone (21 or older) will be required for each ten teens (i.e. a youth leader bringing between 11 to 20 teens would need two adults). When you register, indicate your age and the name of your chaperone and their phone number. A separate registration form is needed for each attendee and must be signed by their chaperone and one of their parents. We will forward to you a parental consent form that MUST BE IN OUR HANDS BY JULY 23RD. This consent form is available for download from in the Bible Institute tab. No children under 13 can be accepted. Only pre-registered persons and their chaperones may attend the program which goes from 10am through 4pm on Friday July 29th. People will not be permitted to wander in and out of the seminar.
3 FATHER AL LAUER continues to touch many lives even though he passed on to the Lord on October 13, Presentation Ministries (PM) web site offers many of his writings and teachings which are the rich inheritance he left us. There are many testimonies of those who have heard Father Al s recordings on the radio or have read his daily devotional One Bread One Body. PM strives to fulfill the vision given Fr. Al by the Holy Spirit. The Bible Institute is one of the many ministries Fr. Al created in order to disciple Catholics more deeply for Christ. Weekend talks will be on CD and ready for pick up at Media desk in Hailstone Hall about an hour after the talk. Weekday talks will be in MP3 format and available the following morning after the final talk of the seminar. A media catalog can be obtained at the B.I. Media desk or by calling the Ministry Center after the middle of August. CHILDREN ON CAMPUS While PM strongly supports Catholic family life, our staffing and facility constraints will not allow us to provide childcare for the Bible Institute. Due to guidelines imposed by Xavier University, children that are at the Institute for any reason must be under the supervision of their parents or a responsible adult at all times. This is in effect everywhere on campus. Our Lady of Guadalupe Discipleship Center Prepare yourself for the Bible Institute by joining us for a special retreat at the OLG Discipleship Center in Peebles, Ohio. The Sacraments: the Living Water of Grace will be presented July 18-20th, For more information on this or other retreats at this scenic campus, call Our Lady of Guadalupe Bible College is a personalized approach to learning the truths of Divine revelation, both in Scripture and in the Church. Its aim is to equip you to be a disciple of Jesus and to serve Him. Courses are offered at several locations and also through home study. 5 HOW TO TEACH THE BIBLE IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT - MONDAY THRU THURSDAY This foundational four day seminar will give you the tools and confidence to teach the Bible in small groups as well as using the Word of God in your everyday life. PM has equipped hundreds of people who are now teaching in many different settings. LIFE IN THE SPIRIT SEMINAR MONDAY THRU WEDNESDAY God may be calling you to a new depth in your relationship with Christ in the power of the Spirit. Search no further, come and receive all God wants to give you. PRACTICAL EVANGELIZATION MONDAY AND TUESDAY BILL RICHART offers in this workshop a very concrete method of evangelization. He has taught this process at the Center for Evangelization in MI and is excited about expanding it to a two day program. PROPHECY: GOD S WORD FOR TODAY MONDAY AND TUESDAY The gift to be sought above all others is the gift of prophecy. Come to understand the great scope of this gift and how it is to be used in our daily lives. This two day seminar will speak to the many aspects of the prophetic gift and its vital role in fully implementing the Lord s plan for our lives and our ministries. THE GIFT OF INTERCESSION - MONDAY Learn how to be a prayer warrior in the army of Christ. The fervent prayer of a holy person is powerful indeed. Pope St. John Paul II said that prayer and fasting are the first and most effective weapons against the forces of evil. It will include portions of St. Faustina s diary that cover her visions of heaven and hell, her encounters with demons, and the triumph of Mercy over all the tactics of the enemy. Come and learn how devotion to Divine Mercy can bring unfathomable graces. ANSWERING GOD S CALL - WEDNESDAY We each have many roles to fill in our life and these change over time. This workshop will equip you with new insights into God s perfect plan for your life. Weekday Seminars OLD TESTAMENT: SEVEN TREASURES OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH - WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY What are those books of the Catholic Bible that make it different from the Protestant Bible? Why is there a difference between these traditions? Who subtracted them in the first place? An overview of these questions and why they are important. DISCOVERING YOUR SPIRITUAL GIFTS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY Perhaps you have heard about the spiritual gifts that the Holy Spirit gives but you do not know what your gifts are or how to use them. This seminar teaches about the thirty gifts spoken of in scripture and gives you the knowledge to discern your gifts and those of others. TO HEAL AS JESUS HEALS - THURSDAY AND FRIDAY We all are in need of healing and freedom in Jesus. The Holy Spirit may be calling you to minister to the hurting people in your family, neighborhood, workplace or parish. Learn to share His healing love with those who are ill, hurt, and brokenhearted. LET NOT YOUR COURAGE FAIL - THURSDAY 1 John 5:4. Everyone begotten of God conquers the world and the power that has conquered the world is this faith of ours. Through this program you will be encouraged to live your baptismal call of radical newness to bring peace into this violent world with faith and truth as your bedrock. GETTING TO KNOW THE GUADALUPE BIBLE COLLEGE - FRIDAY This program is for those interested in learning more about participating in Guadalupe Bible College. Live according to what you have learned and accepted. Phil 4:9 REVELATION: APOCALYPSE EXPLORED - FRIDAY Understanding the last book of the Bible requires a good understanding of what had gone before it. Part of that understanding is in the Old Testament. Apocalyptic writings from the prophetic books of Ezekiel and Daniel will be explored to give participants the background needed to help unravel the mysteries of the fascinating Book of Revelation. CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY: A WAY OF LIFE - FRIDAY Community is one of the most misunderstood facets of Christianity - while at the same time it is the vehicle that brings power and enthusiasm to the faith. 6 The Bible Institute is held on Xavier University campus in Cincinnati, Ohio. Pre-registration is required for housing and meals by July 3rd. Weekday classes can be registered up to the day of the class. Some classes fill up quickly so it may be best to register early. Incomplete registration forms will delay your processing. In order to process your registration, please send all information at one time. Availability is assigned in the order that the COMPLETED form is received. You will receive a confirmation via if registration is done online. Registration sent by mail, will receive confirmation by mail. Allow time for it to be processed. Registration after July 10 will not be confirmed by mail. An acknowledgement packet with additional information will be sent out with confirmation. PLEASE BRING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT PACKET WITH YOU. An information packet will be available at the Registration Desk upon your arrival with all needed materials. On Friday, July 22 and Sunday, July 24, the registration desk will be in Bishop Fenwick Place. Saturday, July 23 and starting Monday, the registration desk will be located in Hailstone Hall. Housing is available in Bishop Fenwick Place on campus. Due to Xavier University policy, we must require a $100 non-refundable deposit for each person registering for housing. If you wish to share room or suite with someone, please send in your registrations together or indicate on the registration form in the appropriate area. Registration deadline is July 3rd. There are hotels nearby if you prefer to lodge off campus. The building has air-conditioned suites that include a common living area and 3 or 4 bedrooms with shared bathrooms. Most bedrooms are double occupancy with very few single rooms available. Individual suites are not equipped with small refrigerators or microwaves. However, there are small microwaves and refrigerators in nearby lounges with one common large refrigerator at the end of the hall. Weekday seminars will be located in Hailstone Hall across the green space from Bishop Fenwick Place. All locations are within walking distance. Golf carts will be available this year for shuttling those in need of assistance. LOCATION INFORMATION The GPS address to use for Xavier University 1625 Herald Avenue, Cincinnati, OH Meals are offered at the Bishop Fenwick Dining Room which is a state-of-the-art dining facility on the first floor of Bishop Fenwick Place. All meals must be pre-ordered through the registration form by July 3rd. They have a variety of dishes to suit many different appetites. Beginning on Saturday July 23 through July 29, breakfast and lunch will be available for your selection. Check registration form for prices. Lunch includes a great selection of entrees, soups, sandwiches, salad bar, desserts and more. Dinner is offered only on Sunday through Bishop Fenwick dining room. There will be no hospitality breakfast items available in the dorm as we have offered in the past. Other possibilities for meals are restaurants on nearby Montgomery Road or take out delivery options. A campus food court in Gallagher Student Center has a Blue Gibbon (Chinese), Andy s Mediterranean, Subway and Coffee Emporium. However, the summer hours are very limited, especially on weekends. Currita Burrito is located in Bishop Fenwick Place. Complete all the appropriate areas on the registration form. Make one check payable to Presentation Ministries if sending it through the mail or credit card if registration online. 7 PROGRAM SELECTIONS Please be sure to mark all programs you plan on attending so we have adequate seating for all. The weekday schedule offers you a choice of seminars. Indicate your program selection by checking the CIRCLE next to the title. You may register for only one program per day and if you plan on taking a course that is more than one day, you can not attend a different program during those other scheduled days. For example. if you want to register for a 2 day course such as Practical Evangelization on Monday and Tuesday, you can not register for a different class on Tuesday. You could register for classes on Wednesday or other days of the week. Class size is limited by the room size, so register early.
