2 VICAR S BLOG : At the start of this year, I wrote in my blog that this was to be a year of change, and explained that in September our current group of four churches will become eight, as I become Priest in Charge of the Barlings Group, and as Sue Bradley and Carol Bason and the whole of our ministry team also serve the other four churches in the group. I thought I would update you on the progress, so that you are aware of the impact of the change on the church in Fiskerton. Firstly, one of the priorities for me has been to develop a Sunday Service rota for eight churches. That is now done with agreement from the churches themselves, which is great news. Effectively what we have done is to spread services through Sunday and have moved our Messy Churches in Reepham and Fiskerton to 4pm on Sunday afternoon. This has also meant that we have found room for a 4pm Family Worship Service at Cherry Willingham. I am excited about the developing work with families and young people across the Benefice. We now have a small Young Peoples Group and I hope that we can add to that in September. Messy Church and Family Worship are now an established part of our work, and I hope that the change in time will encourage more families to join in! There are some things still to consider. We have done many baptisms in this last year, but need to consider whether we can continue with individual family baptisms on Sunday afternoons. Please, if you would like your child baptised, be patient with us! We will of course respond to your request, but it may not be as quickly as you would wish. Inevitably, these changes don t stop other changes and we are also juggling other things. We are really hopeful that Fiskerton Church will have a toilet and new kitchen area before too long, and we are interested in knowing whether members of the community can help us to get the building open, so that it is available during at least part of the week. In addition to this, some of you will be aware that Reepham church has been preparing for some time, to be reordered. The plan is to remove the pews, level the floor, decorate and do some other practical works. The pews will be replaced with chairs. Reepham have now secured all the necessary permissions from the Church authorities and have raised enough money to go ahead. We expect the work to begin in August. So, it s all go and there are exciting times ahead! Every blessing Penny Village Deaths: We pray for the family of Reg Cooper who passed away on May 28 th. A Cremation Service was held on June 13 th. The PCC at St. Clement s is aware that our village Church is not open for visitors or prayer other than at a Sunday Service. We would very much like it to be open and available once a week for anyone to visit or just enjoy a quiet time. You will be aware of our problems with theft over recent years and it is for this reason that we do not feel able to just leave the Church open and unmanned. So, for us to open it and for it be more accessible, we are in need of some help. Could you spare a couple of hours on a Tuesday morning to be in Church, welcome any visitors and offer a cup of tea or coffee (everything supplied)? In this way, we could share our beautiful church with more people and you would be invaluable in assisting us to share the load. If you can help at all just a couple of Tuesdays a year would be great then please contact the Church Wardens: Lynda Forman Annette Townsend Thank you.

What to do... Visit easyfundraising.org.uk Search for Fiskerton PCC (This is the name we are registered as with the Charity Commission) Follow the simple steps to sign up Cherry Willingham Community School. On Friday 3 rd May 2013, a group of around 30 pupils set off from Cherry Willingham Community School for an adventure in Paris. Their first French experience was a bit of sightseeing at the Sacré Coeur: the magnificent, domed, Roman Catholic Church on top of Montmartre. Everyone was given some time to have a look around, go into some shops and take lots of pictures particularly of the spectacular roof-top view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. They also got the chance to go inside the Sacré Coeur, where the pupils saw for themselves the beautiful building from the inside. After driving into the centre of Paris the following morning, the students took a ride on the Bateaux Mouches the open top boat that takes people along the River Seine to see the monuments of Paris that line the riverside, such as the Louvre, the Statue of Liberty, the beautiful Alexander III bridge and of course the Eiffel Tower. After this boat ride thoroughly enjoyed by all the students took a trip up the Tour Montparnasse, the second tallest tower in France, to the panoramic rooftop to take an even higher view of the city. Once everyone had made it down from the tower, the group went to the Champs Élysées for lunch and some shopping. Although only three students chose to go up the Arc de Triomphe, they had a wonderful time at the war monument. The group went to visit the Notre Dame France s most famous cathedral. The brilliant day ended with the students taking a trip up the Eiffel Tower by night. Once at the top, they bore witness to the most wonderful view of Paris by night. Sunday was filled with a trip to Disneyland Paris. The next day saw the group returning home. All the students had thoroughly enjoyed themselves and became far more confident in speaking French, as well as learning how to be more independent and be away from home for the first time.

Draft copies of the Parish Plan have been published. The teenage shelter is finished and in use he suggested that the shelter be insured by the Parish Council for 3500; Councillors agreed that the shelter should be included in the monthly play area inspection for risk assessment purposes. 8 Central Lincolnshire plan outlines future Lincoln developments Tuesday, July 2nd Welton Village Hall, Main Hall, 6pm to 8pm If you are interested in how the village may develop in the future why not come along. I have yet to see the plans for this village but there are certainly plans for Langworth and it would be good to see what is planned for our patch. The experts should be there for you to question. I have one concern. New developments will have to pay a Community Infrastructure Levy(CIL) for the obviously needed extra facilities. Unfortunately, the County Council has its eyes on a big chunk of this money to pay for the new bypass. Which means we existing council tax payers will have to pay for the facilities the CIL would have been expected to finance. Now for something slightly different, Lincolnshire Credit Union (LINCUP), has come to West Lindsey. LincUP is owned and run by its members provides a safe and convenient method of saving, and offers affordable loans without hidden charges or fees. This is available to all people who live and work within Lincolnshire. It provides a useful tool to help manage cash flow and could be particularly beneficial for anyone needing payday loans or finding the new benefits payment system difficult to manage. It has the same 85,000 guarantee to savers as do banks and offers far better deals to borrowers than alternative lenders. There are offices in the Guildhall, Gainsborough 10am till 2pm every Tuesday and at 390, The High Street, Lincoln, tel Next to dog fouling and poor road maintenance, parking on pavements and grass verges would be at the top of the complaints list. I am often guilty, one of my daughters insists on parking with two wheels on the pavement outside my house when she visits. She does leave room for pram pushers to get by but we will come to some other arrangements for future visits. It seems to me it is an even bigger problem where vehicles park on grass verges. The grass can t be mown, the grass gets muddy and generally looks untidy. We have a great village and the people I meet are really proud to live here and would like the village to be kept looking as nice and tidy as possible. If anyone has any ideas on how we can find extra parking spaces in the village perhaps they could let me know. Bus shelters: A number of people have contacted me regards the provision of bus shelters in the village. It is a project more for the Parish Council to drive forward and I have seen quotes for the shelters at Cherry Willingham that were 3/4000 each. The Parish Council does get a precept back from WLDC to help pay for such items and I am sure there are number of elderly people in the village who would appreciate being able to sit out of the wind and rain while waiting for a bus. If you are one why not have a word with the Parish Council so that they can get an idea of numbers. If you have any West Lindsey issues you would like to raise with me please, either call round, phone or me and I will see if I can help. We would like to take this opportunity to remind all animal keepers from livestock to household pets to make sure all fences and gates are secure at all times, this will prevent any accidents on our roads which could lead to animals being put down due to serious injury or worse still human fatalities. Have you spare time on your hands, why not think about helping your local community, I am a PSV and find the job very interesting and diverse, the jobs that I do help to free up the officers from the office and get them out into the community.below are two different ways you can help and support your local neighbourhood policing team. The special constabulary is a force of trained volunteers who work with and support their local police. 'Specials', as special constables are known, come from all walks of life - they are teachers, taxi drivers, accountants and secretaries, or any number of other careers - and they all volunteer a minimum of four hours a week to their local police force, forming a vital link between the regular (full-time) police and the local community. Once special constables have completed their training, they have the same powers as regular officers and wear a similar uniform. Police support volunteers (PSVs) are citizen volunteers who give their time freely to perform tasks which complement the duties performed by police officers and staff. This helps free up officers and staff to perform key operational duties. Volunteer roles range from providing front counter services and administration to following up crime reports and incidents with members of the public. These volunteer roles provide significant benefits to the Police Service and to local communities. If you are interested in any area of Police work please contact Lincolnshire Police HQ or search volunteering in the police force on the internet. If you want to keep up with all the latest Police news in your area please join us on Twitter and Facebook, we have an address if you want to contact us, these are listed below. twitter.com@npt-nettleham facebook.com/nptnettleham nettleham.npt@lincs.pnn.police.uk
