2 October 2017 Friday 6th October Concert: Wildwood Kin Part of the Lost Weekend Festival. For more information please see lostweekend.co.uk Sunday 8th October at Holy Ground Holy Ground is a creative and contemplative act of worship, at the heart of which is a celebration of the Holy Communion or Lord s Supper. The act of worship is followed by refreshements and a café-style gathering in the Nave. This month s speaker is Canon Mark Oakley, Canon Chancellor at St Paul s Cathedral, London. Mark s role at St Paul s includes oversight of education, theology, the arts, mission and evangelism. His latest book of poetry is A Splash of Words and Mark will be taking us into the realm of poetry as the native language of faith. Thursday 12th October from The Wooly Roadshow (Cathedral Green) An educational promotion of British Wool, British Sheep and the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. Wildwood Kin? Thursday 12th October at The Great Big Cathedral Quiz Put together a team of 6-8 and compete in the nave of the Cathedral. There ll be some prizes up for grabs on the night, plus bragging rights as the 2017 Great Big Cathedral Quiz Champions! Tickets are just 10 per person and include a delicious hog roast courtesy of Kenniford Farm. There s even a cash bar provided by The Oddfellows! Monday 16th October at Concert: Two Moors Festival The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra gives its first performance in the South West as part of the Two Moors Festival. The exhibition will be open after the service on Remembrance Sunday. Cathedral admission charge applies at all other times. Be a cool scientist and launch your flying machines around the Cathedral. Make copters and planes whizz across the nave. Can a plane fly with circular wings? What is the biggest paper plane we can fly? Let s find out! Tuesday 24th October in the Cathedral (4yrs+, booking essential, 7 per child, 7.50 per adult including Cathedral admission) That s The Tour Join us on this family friendly tour that shows you the best parts of the Cathedral with many stories to tell. Spot the very cheeky choirboy and the hungry croc. Someone will get the chance to dress as a bishop or a chorister. You will also be given trinkets to lay at Bishop Lacy s Tomb, to bring good luck and fortune to all on the tour. Wednesday 25th October in the Pearson Building (6yrs+, booking essential. 7) That s History Knights and wizards are a clever sort, become one and take the Medieval Challenge to find the ingredients to make ecto-slime. Can you ward off dragons and demons with your homemade potion? Friday 27th October in the Cathedral (all ages, just drop in, crafts up to 2 each) That s Crafting Join us inside the Cathedral and visit the Craft Table. We have something for everyone to have a go at today. Some crafts are free; others are 1 or 2. Make a magic mirror or a bespoke badge to take home, try a bendy knight or a fluffy belfry bat. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission to the Cathedral is FREE for children under 18 as part of a family group. Book now by calling or book online

Joined by Miranda Sykes on double bass they are widely recognised for their resonating original songs, stunning musicianship and remarkable audience rapport. Donna is the Director of St Mellitus College South West in Plymouth, which opens its doors for training ordinands this September. She is also Tutor and Lecturer in Spirituality and Apologetics. Donna s PhD research, which won The John Templeton Award for Theological Promise 2011, explored points of contact between the Christian mystical tradition and atheistic literature, and she remains fascinated by the relationship between the Church and contemporary culture. Her second book, Divine Sparks: Everyday Encounters with God s Incoming Kingdom, is published this year with SPCK.
