Dinner is from 5:00 to 6:00pm in The Wright Place. This week s menu is: Chicken Pot Pie, Collard Greens, Salad, Biscuits or Cornbread and Dessert. Please make your reservations in the registration pads, by calling the church office ( ), or online. Session 2 of Wednesday night classes begin after dinner at 6:00pm. Many classes continue and two new ones begin. You are invited to join any class at any time. Our hope is that everyone can find a place to grow during this Fall Semester. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday night. (Note: The Senior Pastor s study will not meet this week as he is out of town. The class will resume on October 19.) For over 40 years our church family has joined together each fall to worship, learn, and fellowship at Blue Lake Methodist Camp in Andalusia, Alabama. Next weekend, more than 200 of our church family will retreat to the woods for time away from the business and stresses of everyday life. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they travel, learn, and grow together. Activities include pumpkin carving, canoeing, hayrides, roasting marshmallows, and much more. Friday Night at The Wright Place October 21st Fifty Forward is hosting another Friday Night at The Wright Place on October 21. This month we will have a delicious fish fry with entertainment from Silvercreek Band. We ll gather in The Wright Place from 6:00 8:00pm. Call the church office to make reservations. Everyone is invited. Database Update Giving Statements Last week we began the process of upgrading our church database management system. Due to the upgrade process monthly giving statements have been delayed and should arrive the week of October 10. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. 2 Welcome to First United Methodist Church; we are delighted that you have chosen to worship with us this morning. Founded in 1821, First Church is the oldest Protestant church in the area and the oldest Methodist church in Florida. This historic church, with four Sunday services, has a membership of 3200 and is overflowing with life. We hope that you will consider becoming a member of our church family. You may join any Sunday by profession of faith or transfer of membership. Come and be a part of what God is doing here. VISITOR / NEW MEMBER CLASS We welcome all visitors and new members that are interested in learning more about First Church to an introductory class that consists of four parts. The class assembles at 9:30am in room PH101 next door in the Perry Home. Today s class, Ministries of First Church, is about all the programs and ministries of the church. Next week, Serving at First Church will help you find your place to use your gifts and talents in service in the church and community. There will not be a class on October 23, instead the fourth class, Tour of First Church, will take place on the fifth Sunday, October 30. We hope you join us each week. NURSERY and CHILDREN S BULLETINS Nursery is available this morning for children up to five years old. If you need help locating the nursery, please see an usher or greeter for assistance. Also, children s worship bulletins and crayons are available in the narthex. FLOWERS The flowers in the Sanctuary are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of David Coe on the occasion of his birthday, October 12, by Mary Coe. THE GROWING SEASON UPDATE As of October 7, we received 352 pledge cards for 2017 totaling $1,449,611. The current year s budget is $2,183,699. If you haven t turned in an Estimate of Giving Card, please consider doing so today. Pledge cards are available in the pews. Fill out the form, along with any others you d like, and grow with us in faith, knowledge, and service. Thank you for your commitment to further God s work at First Church.
