2 WELCOME TO EMMANUEL We worship God and follow Jesus Christ, learning and growing together in the Holy Spirit to serve in the world. We will love & welcome ALL. We are pleased that you have chosen to worship the Lord with us. We pray that God's grace and peace will fill you and encourage your frequent return. In our worship service two books are used. The Book of Common Prayer is the red book containing the services of the church; the hymns are in the blue Hymnal All who seek a deeper relationship with Christ through the sacrament of Holy Communion are invited to receive the blessed bread and wine. If you would rather simply receive a prayer of blessing, please come to the Altar and fold your arms across your chest and you will receive a blessing. They shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when relief comes. They shall live in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. Blessed are those who trust in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. They shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit. 3

SECOND READING 1 Corinthians 15:12-20 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our proclamation has been in vain and your faith has been in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified of God that he raised Christ--whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised. If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have died in Christ have perished. If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. Grant that every member of the Church may truly and humbly serve you; That your Name may be glorified by all people. We pray for all bishops, priests, and deacons, especially for Michael, our Presiding Bishop; Whayne, our Diocesan Bishop and his wife, Dana; for our Interim Rector, Alan, his wife, Lisa, and their family. For our partner dioceses and their bishops: Wendell, Cate, Rayford, Moises, Justin, and Craig. Give us grace to do your will in all that we undertake; That our works may find favor in your sight. Have compassion on those who suffer from any grief or trouble; That they may be delivered from their distress. Give to the departed eternal rest; Let light perpetual shine upon them. We praise you for your saints who have entered into joy; May we also come to share in your heavenly kingdom. Let us pray for our own needs and those of others.
