2 Close Reading Questions Why are the chapters numbered in an unusual way in this novel? Chapter 7 1. Can you offer an interpretation of the passage that Christopher quotes from a proper novel? 2. What appeals to Christopher about detective stories? Can you explain why? 3. How are emoticons used up until this point in the novel? What do they symbolise? 4. What is one personality characteristic which Christopher possesses and what is an example of this?

Yet why do we often find the novel funny?
