2 YOGA THERAPY EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY OVERVIEW We would like to invite you to travel with us to India in December 2018 to explore and study Yoga therapy. The tour will begin in South India, renowned for its welcoming people, lush scenery, delicious food and distinctive ancient temples. Here, we will visit The International Center for Yoga Education and Research (ICYER) and The Center for Yoga Therapy Education and Research (CYTER) at the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Center in Pondicherry. ICYER and CYTER are known for their integration of Yoga and modern medicine in hospitals as well as for their extensive Yoga Therapy training programs. We will then fly to Pune in Western India where we will visit the headquarters of Kaivalyadhama (KDHAM). KDHAM is known for its scientific, philosophical and literary research of Yoga and offers courses in Yoga, Naturopathy and Ayurveda. Throughout the trip, we will visit centuries old temples, ashrams steeped in their spiritual culture, meditation caves, architectural marvels and much more. This tailor-made tour comprises some of the best boutique hotels in the areas we visit and provides a unique and comfortable experience of India. The LMU Center for Religion and Spirituality is partnering with travel company Classic Escapes to offer this unique educational opportunity. FACULTY Dr. Lori Rubenstein Fazzio is a Physical Therapist and Lecturer of Yoga Studies at Loyola Marymount University. She currently directs the Yoga Therapy clinical internship program in the LMU Center for Religion and Spirituality. Ms. Shanna Hughes is a certified Yoga Therapist and Lecturer of yoga and meditation at Loyola Marymount University. Shanna was raised in Kashmir, India for the first 16 years of her life while her parents were studying and publishing old Kashmir Shaivite Sanskrit texts into English. THREE PRE-DEPARTURE ONLINE CLASS MEETINGS ARE SCHEDULED To get the most out of this journey, Lori and Shanna will hold conference calls covering the do s and don ts for our trip to India, keeping in mind cultural sensitivity. 3 YOUR ITINERARY DAYS 1/2~THURSDAY/FRIDAY ~ DECEMBER 6/7 USA/ EN ROUTE Your journey begins December 6 th as you board your overnight flight to Chennai, arriving early morning on December 8 th. DAY 3~SATURDAY~DECEMBER 8 CHENNAI/PONDICHERRY Arrive in Chennai early this morning where you will be transferred via air-conditioned Volvo bus to Pondicherry (approximately 3-hour drive). ** Optional accommodations are available for those arriving earlier with special group rates at the Raintree Hotel near the airport in Chennai. Our bus will pick you up at 9 am December 8 th to be driven to Pondicherry. Your arrival in Pondicherry, the French Riviera of the East, is where your journey truly begins. You ll notice the colonial influence in the quaint heritage buildings, the grand, tree-lined avenues, churches, temples and statues. The Promenade Hotel is located in the French Quarter overlooking the Bay of Bengal. This refined boutique hotel is across from the Promenade Beach near the Pondicherry railway station and the Pondicherry airport. All of the 35 rooms and suites feature wood floors and colorful furnishings, and come with flat-screen TVs with premium channels, free Wi-Fi, minibars, and tea and coffee making equipment. Lighthouse is a charming rooftop restaurant that gives the most amazing views of the majestic Bay of Bengal and has a barbeque and grill menu. Blueline is a fine round the clock restaurant that offers its guests a good range of authentic Oriental and Mediterranean dishes. Additional amenities include a bar, an outdoor pool, and a porch overlooking the bay. Your first day will be free to adjust to the time change. You can spend your time relaxing in the pool or walk by the beach taking in the ocean air. Gather tonight for discussion and orientation with Lori and Shanna followed by a welcome dinner. (Lunch [L] on one s own; Welcome Dinner D) DAY 4~SUNDAY ~DECEMBER 9 PONDICHERRY Rise early for meditation and yoga led by Lori and Shanna. Following breakfast, the group will visit SRI KAMBALISWAMY MADAM where you will partake in a Puja ceremony. This ceremony will be focused on blessing the group for the rest of our trip and setting your intentions. Later in the afternoon we will have a guided tour through the French Quarters and some of the important sites that surround this area. Evening free for dinner in the French Quarter followed by Yoga and discussion with Shanna and Lori in the early evening. (B and L) Reading about the Madam:

4 DAY 5~MONDAY DECEMBER 10 Rise early for meditation and yoga on the beach led by Lori, Shanna and ICYER staff. Following breakfast travel to the ICYER at the Ananda Ashram for a fulfilling day of Yoga therapy workshops with master teachers from CYTER/ICYER. (B and L) DAY 6~TUESDAY DECEMBER 11 Early morning yoga and meditation on the beach. We will then travel to the Mahatma Gandhi Hospital to learn how Yoga Therapy is utilized in the hospital setting. We will tour of the hospital and partake in an International Yoga Therapy conference with Lunch served at the hospital. (B and L) DAY 7~WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 12 PONDICHERRY/ARUNACHALA MOUNTAIN Today set out on a daytrip to Arunachala Mountain (approx. 2 hours by coach). Arunachala Hill is, in the Hindu faith, revered as the holiest mountain in India. It is a very important pilgrimage site where Lord Shiva, in his aspect of fire, is revered as Arunachaleswara. Arunachala Hill (the "Red Mountain"), which forms a backdrop to the town of Tiruvannamalai, is said to be the site where the fire manifested itself, and is thus perceived as the light of God himself. You will visit the Matrubhteswara Temple and Sri Ramana Maharishi s shrine. Behind the ashram are caverns that have been used for meditation by enlightened masters for centuries. A visit to the caves reveals the beauty that surrounds us and the peace and silence that a person feels in these surroundings. Tiruvannamalai Temple is a world-renowned pilgrimage center located at the foothills of Annamalai. It came to be built over a period of more than a thousand years. Shiva is represented here in the form of Agni. Overnight at the PROMENADE HOTEL. (B, packed L). DAY 8~THURSDAY ~DECEMBER 13 Rise early for yoga and meditation on the beach. Spend the morning at ICYER studying and practicing in the Gitananda lineage of Yoga Therapy. In the afternoon we will have a guided tour to Auroville. Auroville s purpose is to release human unity in diversity. Its focal point is Matrimandir, a futuristic, spherical temple covered in gold discs. Auroville is also known for its important projects for women s empowerment, education and financial support. Auroville is also the most environmentally friendly town in India where its botanical gardens protects the regions tropical dry evergreen forest. Our visit to Pondicherry will conclude with dinner and Classical Bharata Natyam and Carnatic Vocal music performances at ICYER s city center location. Overnights at the PROMENADE HOTEL. (B; L on one s own) DAY 9~FRIDAY~DECEMBER 14 CHENNAI/PUNE/LONAVALA After a leisurely breakfast depart later this morning to Chennai for your flight to Pune. Our home for the next five nights will be at the Rhythm Lonavala. The Rhythm is a magnificent resort nestled in the Sahyadri Mountains. All suites are beautifully-appointed with Cypress and Banyan woods, and equipped with private balconies, decks or gardens. Designed in Asian-Colonial architecture, the Rhythm is based on a tree of life concept, aiming to create harmony and balance among all living things. You ll notice the walls adorned with indigenous rock, and chips of local trees, surrounding guests with nature at all times. Enjoy the pool, gym, spa, and three unique restaurants during your stay. 5 DAYS 10/11/12/13~SATURDAY/SUNDAY/MONDAY/TUESDAY~DECEMBER 15/16/17/18 LONAVALA/KAIVALYADHAMA (KDHAM) The next five days will be an immersion into the Yoga Therapy program at the Kaivalaydama Ashram. Immerse yourself in their library, home to sacred ancient texts and Yoga manuscripts, and learn about modern advances in the practice. We will lunch at Rhythm hotel, which is only 5 minutes away from KDHAM by our bus. Mornings you will practice Yoga with Lori and Shanna, and evenings will conclude with Satsang. Overnights at RHYTHM LONAVALA (B, L, D daily) **** Final Goodbye dinner at Rhythm Hotel on December 18 th *** One of the evenings you will be welcomed for Aarti services at Shri Durga Parameshwari Temple, a south(indian style temple dedicated to the Goddess Durga. DAY 14~WEDNESDAY~DECEMBER 19 KARLA CAVES/MUMBAI After breakfast visit the Karla caves, where you will meditate as the ancient Buddhist monks have for over a thousand years. Afterwards you will head to the airport in Mumbai and take a flight back home. Though it is rare for Classic Escapes to make a price adjustment after promotion of an itinerary, we do reserve the right to assess a surcharge if the minimum is not met, or if increases are forced upon us by airlines or other partners or because of changes in currency exchange rates. SINGLE SUPPLEMENT: The quoted rate is valid for the first two single rooms booked and on a first-come, first-served basis. For passengers who are traveling alone and wish to share a room with another tour member, at Classic Escapes we will do our best to provide a roommate. However, if this is not possible, you will be required to pay the single room supplement prior to your departure from the USA. GRATUITIES AND TAXES: Gratuities for baggage handling, service charges and taxes imposed by hotels, and entrance fees to all points of interest as outlined in the itinerary are included. U.S. and foreign airport taxes are included in air costs. Tips to drivers and guide are NOT included. PAYMENTS, CANCELLATIONS, DEVIATIONS & CHANGES TRAVEL INSURANCE: We recommend travel insurance. Travel insurance can provide financial reimbursement should the unexpected occur. $500 COMMITMENT DEPOSIT REQUIRED - A $500 non-refundable commitment deposit is required to reserve your spot in the course. The $500 counts toward the total price of the course and travel expenses, and is only refundable should LMU decide not to run the course. $50 Discount for Early Commitment Deposit - Register for the study tour and pay your $500 Commitment Deposit by May 14, 2018, and receive a $50 discount. Please note: discount is applied to the total bill after a $500 Commitment Deposit is paid. Confirmation of Enrollment - In order to offer quality accommodations at a reasonable rate, students will have to pay a 50% nonrefundable deposit on or before July 1, 2018 (Commitment Deposits count toward the 50% nonrefundable deposit). When enough participants have signed up and paid at least 50% of the total cost of the study tour, LMU will send a Confirmation of Enrollment to each participant; this confirmation can take place at any point on or before July 1, The Confirmation of Enrollment will specify that from the next business day, 50% of the total cost of the study tour is nonrefundable. If on July 2, 2018 the number of participants who have signed up and paid at least 50% is insufficient, the trip may be cancelled; if LMU cancels the trip, all monies will be refunded. Final payment of the remaining balance must be received by Sept. 7, 2018.

9 CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS: beginning on the Confirmation of Enrollment date, 50% of the total cost of this study tour is nonrefundable. As of Sept. 7, 2018, 75% of the total cost of the study tour is nonrefundable. As of October 8, 2018, no refunds are possible. CHANGE FEES: Once you reserve your tour, changes are possible subject to availability of air or land space at the time of request. Should there be any change fees imposed by airlines or ground operators, or additional costs incurred due to availability of any space, this cost will be invoiced to you. SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Classic Escapes would be happy to make additional travel plans for you, including specially arranged preor post-tour extensions different than those that may be offered in conjunction with this tour. A service charge of $150 per person (over and above the cost of the services required) will be assessed. TRANSPORTATION BOOK YOUR OWN INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL - International travel to India is not included in the price of the program (all ground and air transport within India is included). PASSPORT & VISAS: The onus is upon the guest to ensure that passports and visas are valid for the countries visited and for the applicable time period, as outlined by the U.S. Department of State (travel.state.gov) or by the passport holder s country. Classic Escapes, their staff and their agents cannot be held liable for any visas, etc. not held by the guests, nor for the cost of obtaining visas. FINAL DOCUMENTS: Final documents will be sent to you approximately two weeks prior to departure, provided all monies have been paid in full. TRIP DETAILS ACCOMMODATIONS: You will marvel at the wonderful accommodations provided throughout your tour. All rooms have private bathroom facilities and air conditioning and/or fans. All rates are based on double occupancy. Most rooms are twin-bedded, but king-size beds are occasionally available and should be requested in advance. Accommodations listed in this itinerary are correct at time of writing, but on rare occasions may be substituted for a different property of comparable quality. MEALS: All meals as specified in the itinerary. Please notify us if you have special dietary needs or requests, and we will do our best to accommodate. INOCULATIONS: When it comes to vaccination and disease prevention, we suggest that travelers first review information provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ( and then review those details with their personal physicians. WATER: It is always advisable to drink bottled and/or filtered water when traveling overseas. Safe drinking water will be provided to travelers free of charge in the vehicles and during meals. BAGGAGE: On average, international flights from the USA allow one piece of checked luggage, not exceeding 50 pounds; however, we always recommend that you check your airline s policy just before departure, as luggage limitations are always subject to change. The check-in baggage limit on domestic flight in India is 15 kg (33 lbs.). The extra baggage charges on domestic flights in India are as follows: for every extra 5 kg (11 lbs), $8.00 USD will be charged. For every extra 10 kg (22 lbs.), $45.00 USD will be charged. Despite this weight allowance, we always suggest guests travel light. Also, soft-sided duffel bags are ideal for this tour, as they stow best in vehicles and airplanes with limited space. TERMS & CONDITIONS RESPONSIBILITIES: Neither Classic Escapes (the Company) nor any person or agent acting for, through or on behalf of the Company shall be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever arising from any cause whatsoever and without restricting the generality of the aforegoing shall particularly not be responsible for loss or damage arising from any errors or omissions contained in its brochure or other literature, loss or damage caused by delays, sickness, theft, injury or death. In addition, the Company shall have the right at any time at its discretion to cancel any trip or the remainder thereof or make any alteration in route, accommodation, price or other details and, in the event of any trip being rendered impossible, illegal or inadvisable by weather, strike, war, government or interference or any other cause whatsoever, the extra expenses incurred as a result thereof shall be the responsibility of the passenger. The Company may at its discretion and without liability or cost to itself at any time cancel or terminate the guest s booking and in particular without limiting the generality of the aforegoing it shall be entitled to do so in the event of the illness or the illegal or incompatible behavior of the guest, who shall in such circumstances not be entitled to any refund. PHOTOGRAPHY: The Company reserves the right without further notice to make use of any photograph or film taken on the tour by our photographers without payment or permission. We guarantee that no photographs of a compromising nature will be used. CHANGES TO SCHEDULES: Although every effort is made to adhere to schedules it should be borne in mind that the Company reserves the right and in fact is obliged to occasionally change routes and hotels as dictated by changing conditions. REFUNDS: While the Company uses its best endeavors to ensure that all anticipated accommodation is available as planned, there shall be no claim of any nature whatsoever against the Company for a refund either in the whole or part, if any accommodation or excursion is unavailable and a reasonable alternative is found. If the guest is unable to use any service provided in the itinerary, then there are no refunds due. AIRLINE CLAUSE: The airlines concerned are not to be held liable for any act, omission or event during the time the passengers are not on board their planes or conveyance. The passengers tickets in use by the airline or by other carriers concerned when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and the purchaser of these tickets and/or passengers.

11 DELAYS: We cannot be held liable for any delays or additional costs incurred as a result of airlines not running to schedule. If one of our guides is unable to take a trip due to illness, etc. we reserve the right to substitute with another guide. This agreement is made subject to and shall be governed by and construed according to the laws of the country in which the trip takes place. Classic Escapes acts merely as an agent for the operating companies. To the best of our knowledge the itinerary is correct at the time of printing.
