2 YUG PURUSH MAHARAJA AGRASEN Maharaja Agrasen - an icon of non-vioence, messenger of Peace, embodiment of Sacrifice, Compassion, Prosperity and fu of virtues, ede son of King Baabh of Pratapnagar, was born at e a age of Dvaapar Yug, according to e Mahaakshmi Vrat. The bir of Maharaja Agrasen took pace neary 5185 years ago, amo around e period of Mahabharat. King Baabh was a Suryavanshi (ineage from e Sun) so Maharaja Agrasen got e tag of Suryavanshi by bir. He never discriminated and his subjects were very peased wi him. During his young age Prince Agrasen was compassionate about e issues around him. At a young age, he attended e Swyamvara (ceremony of marriage) of Princess Madhavi, e daughter of e King Nagaraj. Princess Madhavi was highy impressed by him and readiy accepted him as her ife partner. This marriage ead to e union of two different cans. Maharaja Agrasen was a Shiv Bhakta so he buit a pace of for Lord Shiva in e hoy city of Kashi. Lord Shiva got peased wi is pace of worship, so appeared in front of him and advised Agrasen to worship Goddess Mahaakshmi. Maharaja Agrasen earney prayed to Mahaakshmi; and his devotion was rewarded wi e appearance of Mahaakshmi before him. The Goddess bessed and suggeed him to take up e vaishya tradition of business for e sake of prosperity of peope. She furer inructed him to buid a new kingdom and promised prosperity to his descendants. On e advice of Mahaakshmi he gave up his Kshatriya tradition, returned to Agroha and buit Mahaakshmi tempe as an abode of KULDEVI of Agroha. Maharaja Agrasen conducted Ashwamedh Yagna and as part of is yagna he conducted 18 yagnas, one for each of his 18 sons. 17 yagnas were concuded wi e sacrifice of a horse as part of e vedic tradition but during e 18 yagna, e sacrificia horse arted crying as he became aware of dea approaching him. This touched Maharaja Agrasen's heart and he decided not to sacrifice e horses as a part of e yagna. Maharaja Agrasen eabished 18 Gotras in e name of Gurus who performed 18 Yagnas. There were 18 ates in Agroha repubic. The contributions of Maharaja Agrasen were we recognised by Government of India by naming a ship in his name. The same was purchased by Government of India for 350 crore rupees from Sou Korea Government of India aso aunched a poa ticket in e name of Maharaja Agrasen in PHILOSOPHY OF MAHARAJA AGRASEN: The phiosophy of Maharaja Agrasen is based on humanity, simpicity equaity, ove and affection among peope. He was e fir ruer who eabished sociaism in his regime in e rea sense. He arted e tradition of giving Ek Rupiya, ek Eent (one rupee and one brick) to anyone setting in his kingdom. There was no unempoyment in his regime and everyone had his own home. The principe of Give and Take was practised by everyone in his kingdom. In is setup of receiving ings from and donating ings neier e receiver fet shamed nor e donator fet proud. There were equa opportunities for peope wi various economic backgrounds. During his regime, feeings of socia wefare and broerhood gaored in e mind of every citizen. There was no corruption or sefishness in his kingdom. The deveopment of kingdom and ife ye of peope was competey based on agricuture, trade and dairy. His beief in non-vioence hardy meant nonresiance to oppression. He promoted sef defence. According to him, sef protection and nationa defence were not e task of ony kshatriyas - e warrior cae, raer it was e duty of each citizen to protect and safeguard eir moerand. The ideas of equaity, juice, sociaism and nonvioence propounded by Maharaj Agrasen 5,000 years ago formed e spirit of e present Conitution of India. These principes are Guiding Mantras for every Indian even in e contemporary times. 3 MAIMS AT A GLANCE MANAGING COMMITTEE Maharaja Agrasen Initute of Management Studies (MAIMS) is an ambitious initiative of Maharaja Agrasen Technica Education Society (MATES), Punjabi Bagh. The Society has been promoted by a group of eminent induriais, businessmen, professionas and phianropis to provide quaity education in e area of technoogy, management, aw and journaism. The members of is society are invoved in various activities reated to basic and professiona education and have eabished severa educationa initutions incuding Maharaja Agrasen Initute of Technoogy (MAT), Rohini, Dehi, Maharaja Agrasen Initute of Management Studies (MAIMS), Rohini, Dehi, Maharaja Agrasen Medica Coege Agroha (Haryana) in addition to many K-12 schoos. The society has aso set up Maharaja Agrasen University (MAU) at Baddi, Himacha Pradesh, which became operationa from Juy Maharaja Agrasen Initute of Management Studies, affiiated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprasa University, arted its journey in 2003 wi two programs BBA and BBA(B&I), sanctioned intake being of 60 udents in each program. Evincing great confidence in e capabiity, approach, orientation and commitment of MAIMS towards providing high quaity education, e affiiating University, GGSIPU, has increased sanctioned reng of udents to 1440 at present. Simiary e facuty reng increased from meager 4 in 2003 to 70 in 2018 in is journey of exceence and out of is 21 are Ph.D., 17 are M. Phi and 27 are regiered for Ph.D. The Initute was granted ISO Certification - ISO 9001:2000 in 2006 which has now been upgraded to ISO 9001:2008 after meeting e requirement of new version of ISO Certification. The Initute has been graded in 'A' category by e Fee Reguatory Committee of e Government of e NCT of Dehi and Joint Assessment Team of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprasa University. The Initute is using severa icensed software ike Adobe Design, Core Draw, Page maker, Visua Studio, MS Office and Orace etc. There are oer faciities ike scanning and printing wi Laser Jet network printers in Computer Centre. Attendance Requirement A udent sha be required to be present in 75% or more of a e casses hed in a course to be eigibe to take up e end semeer examination provided at e Dean of e Schoo in e case of University Schoos and Principa/Director in case of affiiated initutions may condone attendance shortage in any course(s) for individua udents, for reasons to be recorded. However, under no condition a udent who has an attendance of ess an 75% sha be aowed to appear in e end semeer examination of at course (s). Ragging Ragging is totay prohibited and anyone found guity of ragging or abetting ragging wi be iabe for punishment as per "UGC Reguations on Curbing Ragging Maharaja Agrasen Cutura Society (MACS) Maharaja Agrasen Cutura Society is an innovative initiative of e facuty and udents. The purpose and focus of e society is to expore e taent of udents in extracurricuar activities. The society arranges for various academic and cutura events hed in e campus. The annua feiva "Genesis 2018" hed on 13 and 14 March, was an amagamation of cutura and management activities. Sport Events Maharaja Agrasen Initute of Management Studies organized Annua Sports Fe, SPORTZ 2017 on 9 and 10 February, 2018 in e Initute Campus. Over 600 udents participated in different events ike, Chess, 60 Mtr Race, Long Jump, Carrom, Tabe Tennis, Shot Put and Discus Throw. 74 medas were awarded to udents and 90 medas were won b y f a c u t y a n d s t a ff members. The Initute aso promotes participation in inter coege events to refine and hone e taent of e udents, preparing em to face e competition at a eves. Integrated Wi e vision of juice and equaity for everyone MAIMS has arted B.A. LL.B. a year. In is endeavour high quaity teaching is provided to udents to make em aw experts of tomorrow.
