The levels of Sin and how it operations within us {Part 1} How would you define yourself, meaning what makes you, you and how are you effected? Comparing it with scripture of course. Gen. 18:5 while I bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh yourselves { בּ כ ם,{ל and after that you may pass on since you have come to your servant. So they said, Do as you have said. Gen. 45:5 And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves ע י נ יכ ם} {בּ because you sold me here, for Alahiym sent me before you to preserve life. In these two passages, two words that is translated as yourself is being understood as Heart and eyes. This is the main parts that affect you, and makes up yourself. What is the main thing we ask Yahuah for forgiveness for? Ex. 34:5 And Yahuah descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of Yahuah. Ex. 34:6 And Yahuah passed by before him, and proclaimed, Yahuah, Yahuah Alahiym, merciful and compassionate, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Ex. 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. Lev. 16:20 And when he has made an end of reconciling the set-apart place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat: Lev. 16:21 And Aharoon {Aharon/Aaron} shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel}, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: Psa. 51:1 Have mercy upon me, O Alahiym, according to your loving-kindness: according unto the multitude of your tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Psa. 51:2 Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. Psa. 51:3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Psa. 51:4 Against you, you only, have I sinned, and done this evil in your sight: that you might be justified when you speak, and be clear when you judge. Psa. 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Dan. 9:21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. Dan. 9:22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give you skill and understanding.
Dan. 9:23 At the beginning of your supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to show you; for you are greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. Dan. 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your set-apart city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Set-apart. Dan. 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Mashiyach {Messiah} the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 1John 3:4 Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1John 3:5 And you know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. 1John 3:6 Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins has not seen him, neither known him. 1John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 1John 3:8 He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of Alahiym was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 1John 3:9 Whosoever is born of Alahiym does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of Alahiym. Judg. 20:16 Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men left-handed;.{י ח ט א} every one could sling stones at an hair breadth, and not miss A verb form meaning to miss the mark, to sin. Prov. 19:2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that has with his feet sins. 1Kings 1:21 Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders. Psa. 32:5 I acknowledged my sin unto you, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Yahuah; and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah. duty. Chata: is a failure to live up to an expectation, or a failure to fulfill one s חטא Missing the standard of Alahiym. Failing to observe His requirements. It can also be considered a mistake done because of weakness, or ignorance. Finally it can be something inherited. We are born in sin. The human flesh, which is faulty to begin with since the fall of man is the type of sin that we all have, and is defined as Chata...
I really believe it refers to bloodline. Yes through Adam all are born into sin... but not everybody struggles with the same sin. Example: You might have a problem with drinking. It s in the blood. Passed on to your kids. Then they eventually might have a drinking problem. Think about a doctor check up? What are some of the questions they may ask? 1. Did your mother or father have high blood? 2. Did your mother of father have diabetes? 3. Did your mother or father have such and such? They understand the bloodline and genetics... Think about Ya aqub {Ya aqob/jacob} being a. supplanter {circumvent}. Where did it come from... his Mother was like that, his father in law Laban was like that, passed down through the bloodline or family. {11QPs a col. XXIV.11-13a Psalms 155} 11. The sins of my youth cast far from me, and may my transgressions not be remembered against me. 12. Purify me, O Yahuah, from the evil affliction and let it not return again unto me. Dry up 13. its roots from me, and lets le[av]es not flourish within me. Sin is seen here in two ways. 1. As a previous act. This is a human condition. He speaks of past sins, acts he has done that he desires not to be remembered. 2. As an affliction, that has roots deep within him. The desire is for it not to return. We will call this an evil affliction. What is interesting is the metaphor of leaves and roots, which let s us see this sin as a developed or developing plant. This plant or sin takes over him, and it becomes an evil affliction. The resolve for this evil affliction is to have Yahuah purify him. Not just his past, but heal him so that it will not effect his future. His desire was to dry up the root. The other part I want us to consider it the evil affliction can be seen as a disease, or some type of infection. Now lets revisit Psalms 51:1, but read it to verse 13. Psa.
Psa. 51:6 Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part you shall make me to know wisdom. Psa. 51:7 Purge me {תּ ח טּ א נ י} with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Psa. 51:8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which you have broken may rejoice. Psa. 51:9 Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Psa. 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O Alahiym; and renew a right spirit within me. Psa. 51:11 Cast me not away from your presence; and take not your set-apart spirit from me. Psa. 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of your salvation; and uphold me with your free spirit. Psa. 51:13 Then will I teach transgressors your ways; and sinners shall be converted unto you. Dead Sea Scrolls concerning sin 4QBarkhi Nafshi {4Q434} He has opened his eyes to the helpless, and the cry of the orphans he has heard, and he has turned his ears to their cry. In the abundance of his mercy, He has been favorable to the needy, and he has opened their eyes to see his ways, and their ears to hear His teaching. And he has circumcised the foreskin of their heart, and He has delivered them on account of his loving-kindness, and He set their feet to the way. In abundance of their distress, he did not abandon them In this hymn the needy are fortunate because Yahuah taught them, and has made internal changes necessary to enable their future righteous behavior. How was this done? He circumcised the foreskin of their heart. o Deut. 30:6 And Yahuah your Alahiym will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your seed, to love Yahuah your Alahiym with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live. 4QBarkhi Nafshi {4Q436} You have commanded my heart, and my inmost parts you have taught well, lest they forget your statutes [on my heart] you [have enjoined] your law, on my inmost parts you have engraved it; and you have prevailed upon me, so that I pursue after your ways What does this psalm want you to understand? Your internal organs need cleansing, a purification. The heart here is metaphorical in nature, but is symbolic in understanding the need of His statutes and laws written inside of you.
How important is your heart/mind and who wants it? Your mind is YOU. Whoever takes hold of it takes hold of you Father Yahuah wants it, but willingly Satan wants it, but by force, trickery etc. You should want it. Your Spouse 4QBarkhi Nafshi {4Q435} [the heart of stone] you have rebuked out of me, and have set a pure heart in its place. The evil inclination [you] have rebuked [out of my inmost part][ and the spirit of set] apartness you have set in my heart. Lustfulness of the eyes you have removed from me, and they (lit., it ) gazed upon [all] [your ways. The s]tiffness of neck you have expelled from me, and you have made it unto humility. Wrathful anger you have removed [from me, and have set] [in me a spirit of lo]ng suffering. Haughtiness of heart and arrogance of eyes you have from me. [A spirit of deceit] [You have destroyed] This of course reminds me of the passages in Ezekiel Ezek. 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. Ezek. 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Ezek. 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my judgments, and do them. Sin is once more being understood or expressed through human organs, body parts, and the spirits within. Stony heart Evil inclination Lust of the eyes Arrogance of the eyes Stiff neck Wrathful anger Haughtiness of heart Spirit of deceit {In scripture other body parts are used such as our feet swift to mischief hands shedding innocent blood, etc.}. Psalms speaks of spiritual impurities, caused by acts of his youth and past activities, by which he desires to be cleansed from, whereas this hymn speaks of conditions that He has been freed from. Lets start putting some things together. What do we have so far? The battlefield is you there are 3 main battles. Within you the following things are happening.
1. Inherited battles a. Something that has been handed down. b. Something from birth, or from a generation. c. Something that can be as deep as in the blood. 2. Learned battles a. Something your surrounding taught you. b. Something learned at home, or friends, or a book, or audio/video, or organization. c. Something you experienced. What someone has done to you. {Tricked you, lied to you, deceived you, hurt you, and left you, something emotional or tragic}. Just to name a few. 3. Spiritual battles a. Battle in our flesh. b. Spirits in high places. c. People with spirits. With all these battles, one might say this is too much for me. They might say, why would the Creator allow all of this. One might say I can t do this any more. The point of this lesson was to identify sin, and things surrounding it. We will be going over solutions and ways that has already been set up for us, but may have not understood the proper protocols as to how to fix these issues. No for certain that Yahuah would never give you something that you cannot bear. Once you know whom you are dealing with, the situation can be fixed. Example: Three main places to start: 1. You need to know if you are dealing with yourself or your flesh. 2. You need to know if you are dealing with spirits from someone you are in contact with. 3. Are you dealing with spirits in High places? 4Q prayers for the days of the week These prayers are for forgiveness of past sins of themselves and their forefathers [ ] l[] bnw with all heart and with all soul and to plant your t [h] urah in our heart [so as not to turn from it, to go] right or left, for you will heal us from madness {and blindness} and confusion [of heart for because of] our [i]niquities we have been sold and in our transgression [ ] has befallen us [ ] and you will deliver us from sinning against you. What is being expressed here is that Alahiym will heal them from madness, blindness, and confusion. Being disobedient to the law caused all of this. This was a defect or by product for not upholding the law.
So far we have read Sin operates in different levels in our body 1. Evil affliction: the leaves and roots. Sin is likened to a plant it can cause disease, infections. We read that it can cause madness, blindness and confusion in the heart. The way it gets in is through the eyes, other people, spirits etc. 2. The cure is through another plant called t [h] urah. t [h] urah will cure all madness, blindness, confusion, disease, iniquities, transgressions and sins. Rev. 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Yahuah planted the t [h] urah to transform us. Sin is described as a disease, not as an entity or an organ. The t [h] urah is the cure. You will not be able to come into the gates sick. You must be cleansed, purified, atoned for. The fight against sin is not confined to just something internal, but external. Our surroundings can affect our thinking. We need His t [h] urah, His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments to fix our insides and to discern our outside or surroundings. The attributes of sin is being pushed by demonic forces. The t [h] urah of Yahuah is described as the way to battle these forces. The role of the law in the struggle with the desire to sin places the responsibility for sin into human hands. Alahiym cannot be blamed for sin despite his creation of humans with an inclination to sin, since he also created the law as its cure. Next week we begin to see what we have within us from the beginning.
