2 Notes about Our Music This Season We will sing the standard chants of the Roman Missal in English and of the 2018 Misal Romano in Spanish at our Novus Ordo Masses this season. When we celebrate solemnities and feasts of the Lord, however, we will sing Missa de Angelis at the 11:30 and 1:30 Masses only. At the 5:30 and 9:00 Masses we will sing the Alleluia by Berthier. At 11:30 we will introduce a common setting of the Gregorian Chant Alleluia, Mode 2. At the Spanish Mass we will sing the various settings from Responde y Aclama. At our ancient form Masses we will continue singing Missa Orbis Factor (Mass XI) normally, but Missa de Angelis on November 25, when the Jubilate Deo Youth Schola is leading the singing. The Jubilate Deo Youth Schola will normally sing selected songs at the 11:30 Mass on the third Sunday of the month, and at the Missa Cantata on the fourth Sunday of the month. On fourth Sundays, the 11:30 Mass music will normally be led by a cantor, to free the schola for the 5pm Missa Cantata. However, on Nov. 25, the schola will sing the 11:30 Mass for Christ the King, and cantors/youth schola will sing the Missa Cantata. At the 11:30 Mass for the Solemnity of Christ the King (November 25) we hope to have all the readings sung. At the 5:30 Mass, the propers are sung by a cantor and the settings will vary (English or Latin, chant setting or from the Simple Choral Gradual). They are not specified in the details below. Instruments that are appropriate for the Sacred Liturgy (such as flute, oboe, strings, and trumpet) are welcome to play parts on hymns and to play additional pieces as time allows. Please coordinate with the organist and the choir director. Unless otherwise indicated, Andrea Tierney will be the organist at all Masses that use the organ (or the electronic organ). Therese Ohotnicky may be asked to play on occasion. Our sanctuary restoration project continues this fall, and the church will not be available for Mass or rehearsals. All liturgies and devotions will take place in Varallo Parish Hall until the project is completed. The target timeframe for completion and return to the church is sometime in November or December. Availability of Gloria Dei Schola singers this season: Out for the season: Corinne, Terry, Bill (most of Oct/Nov), Dan (after Sept. 23), Pete out most of Oct. On call for work this season: Becky Hoping to return this season: Audrey, Roumina, Jennifer, Chris Other planned absences for each day are noted below Music for Fall rd Sun. in Ordinary Time Christ the King, Rev: 8/28/18
