In particular, we offer thanks for the lives and faith of members of the St. Andrew community of faith who have died since All Saints Day last year. 4 Stewardship Why Do We Give to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church? The ultimate answer is that we give time, talent, and treasure back to God in genuine gratitude for all that God gives us. That s why we dedicate our offerings at every worship service. Yet my people and I cannot really give you anything, O God, because everything is a gift from You, and we have only given back what is Yours already. 1 Chronicles 29:14 Some members find it awkward to talk about giving, but the facts of stewardship at St. Andrew are very simple. We don t assess an annual membership fee or demand specific contributions from members. How you support the church is between you and God. As Christians, we give to the glory of God and to further God s work in the world. When you give through St. Andrew, you give to support God s work through the many missions and ministries of God s people,both locally and world-wide. Scripture establishes two principles for faithful stewardship: Give proportionally Give consistently For this reason, we encourage members to adopt percentage giving and to make an annual pledge that helps them (and the church) do sound financial planning. Keep in mind that we rely completely on the faithful stewardship of our members. Moreover, every member has a responsibility to support the work St. Andrew does in God s name. As the body of Christ in this place, we are charged with the responsibility of continuing the ministry of Jesus here in Denton. But just as you excel in everything in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us see that you also excel in this grace of giving. 2 Corinthians 8:7 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Commitment Sunday Sunday, November 8 We give our time, talent, and treasure to God in gratitude for all that God does for us. Once a year at St. Andrew, we look at the year ahead and plan how we will individually give back to God for all that God has given to us. As a church family committed to the mission of St. Andrew, we do this also to plan for our church s goals in the year ahead. Join us Sunday, November 8 as we commit our lives to faithful giving in the year ahead. Parents Night Out Saturday, November 14, 4pm-9pm Parent s Night Out is a program for the young families of St. Andrew. The program has a two-fold purpose: it gives parents an opportunity to spend quality time together without their children and it gives the children an evening of fun, with age-appropriate activities, with their friends at St. Andrew.We ask parents to make reservations no later than Thursday, the week of PNO. Presbyterian Women The Women of the church will have a Business meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 3 in the church parlor at 9:30am. Floral Design Workshop On Wednesday, November 18 Joe Alford will share his expertise in floral design as we create arrangements for the holidays. Joe designed for over 45 years at his floral shop in Denton. Each of us will bring a container and artificial materials such as flowers, berries, fruit, etc. Joe will provide the stabilizing materials such as foam. Church Office News Please welcome Derek Shorethose to the church office team. Derek has been a mainstay of our custodial staff for the past five years. We are pleased to announce that he has taken the Office Administrator position recently vacated by Shea Stephens. Derek will be working 12pm-5pm Monday-Friday. Thanksgiving Donations for Treehouse Families On Sunday, November 1, Treehouse will once again be set up in the Narthex to accept your donations to provide the annual Thanksgiving gift cards to Treehouse families. These gifts help offset the cost of their Thanksgiving dinner. The generosity of the St Andrew congregation last year at this time was overwhelming, and our families were both blessed and grateful. Also again this year, Modern Woodmen will be matching your donations up to $500. So please stop by the Narthex table on November 1 after the 8:30 service or before and after the 10:50 service to make your donation and choose a thank you gift handcrafted by the Treehouse students.

These are short, simple services that will be held in the chancel and the tradition is for the services to be led mainly by our laity of all ages. We re inviting all who are interested in serving in worship during the Evening Prayer services to come to a short training session on Sunday, November 15, immediately following the 10:50 worship service. Please meet at the front of the church. Adults, youth, and children ages kindergarten and up are invited and encouraged to participate. There will be readings, acolyting, prayers to lead, and other elements of worship to help guide during the short prayer services. Community Outreach: Holiday Donations for Our Daily Bread Clients The Community Outreach Committee is asking for donations of items for Our Daily Bread that will be used in holiday gift bags for its clients. Items will be collected from October 11 through November 29. Needed items include: new knit hats and gloves, cotton socks, plastic ponchos, soap, lotion, deodorant, small bottles of shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste and brush, chap-stick, cough drops, razors, new underwear, body powder, and small Kleenex packets.
