He brought along one of his Lineillism paintings while she showed him many of the works that have made her famous in Northern Kentucky. Hall, a resident of Sharonville, OH, created a new art form called "Lineillism" after suffering a stroke and shingles that marred his vision. He saw the world in vertical lines. At first, he panicked. Then, he painted. Hall is the subject of a documentary premiering in 2016 called "Lines of Sight," directed by Steve Oldfield, the son of Adelma's roommate, Jean Oldfield. For more information on the movie, check out the website, "Adelma's paintings are really great," said Hall. "And her attitude makes it even more impressive." From the Director s Desk - Happy New Year Many cities will be dropping things to ring in the New Year, ie. the crystal ball in Times Square, a dill pickle (yes, it is true) in Dillsburg, PA, a peach in Atlanta, Georgia, a potato in Boise, Idaho, a Taco in Tucson, Arizona, and the list goes on and on. We spend time reflecting on the past year and looking forward to things to come with resolutions made and anticipation high. We have been very blessed at Carmel Manor during 2015 with the kindness of friends, families and staff that helps us in our ministry of caring for God s aged who have been entrusted to us. We are most grateful for the generosity of others and look forward to an exciting year in Phase I of our addition will be completed early in the year and we will begin the process of moving residents to a smaller and quieter environment. Phase II will begin in the spring to create the new Lobby and Rehabilitation Center, with Phase III, the renovation of the Terrace, to commence this summer. We believe the addition of private rooms and enhanced accommodations will serve us well into the future. May you have a blessed New Year and filled with joy and peace. Be assured of our prayers for you and those you care for and about as we enter this next chapter in the history of Carmel Manor. Activities Corner Thank You Volunteers The world is full of genuinely nice and kind people. If you can t find one, be one. One small act of kindness goes farther than you think. This idea embodies Carmel Manor Volunteers. Our volunteers are always willing to help our residents get to mass, purchase something from the gift shop, paint nails, help out at bingo, feed residents, or spend time visiting with the residents. We love our volunteers. They make our residents feel great. In celebration of our volunteers we held the annual Volunteer Christmas Breakfast on December 18th Thank You Volunteers, You make the difference. Tea for Two or More On January 21st, we celebrate the birth as well as the entrance into eternal life of Mother Angeline Teresa McCrory, the Foundress of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirmed. To mark the occasion and honor Venerable Mother Angeline Teresa and her vision, we will be having an afternoon tea in remembrance. Mother Angeline always said, Nothing is ever spoiled by kindness. Carmel Manor admits all persons without regard to race, color, age, physical handicap, national origin, religious preference or sex and makes available to all such persons all facilities and programs of Carmel Manor.
