1 JBQ Lesson 26 Quizzer Name: God Is In Control
2 God Establishes His Covenant Topic: Joseph Lesson Bible Fact-Pak Questions GOD IS IN CONTROL Scripture references: Genesis 40 and 41; Matthew 25:14-23; Romans 8:28 1. God Helps Joseph Even though Joseph had been sold into slavery and put into prison, he never lost faith in God. He spent two years in that prison, but God was always with him. Two men in prison had strange dreams on the same night. Joseph said God knew the interpretation. So they told their dreams to Joseph. Pharaoh s baker dreamed of three baskets of bread that were on his head. They were for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating the bread. Pharaoh s cupbearer dreamed he squeezed the juice of ripe grapes from three branches into Pharaoh s cup and gave it to Pharaoh. Since Joseph never lost his faith in God despite the bad things that had happened to him, God was able to give Joseph the interpretation of the dreams. Joseph told the baker his dream meant he would be hanged in three days. Joseph told the cupbearer his dream meant he would be released from prison and given back his job in three days. In three days everything happened just as God had told Joseph it would. BFP: God Raises Joseph While the cupbearer was serving Pharaoh one day, Pharaoh shared a troubling dream with him. The cupbearer remembered that Joseph correctly interpreted dreams, so he told Pharaoh about Joseph. Pharaoh sent for Joseph and told him about his dreams. Pharaoh had dreamed of seven fat cows and seven skinny cows. The skinny cows ate up the fat cows. God gave the meaning of the dream to Joseph. He told Joseph that Egypt would have seven years of good harvests, then seven years of famine. Joseph advised Pharaoh to store up food during the seven years of good harvest so there would be enough to eat during the famine. Pharaoh was so impressed with Joseph that he appointed him to be second in command, under Pharaoh himself. Joseph was put in charge of preparing for the famine. All people were to obey him as they did Pharaoh. BFP: 64, God Is in Control The Bible tells us that if we are faithful in little things, God will put us in charge of big things. That s exactly what happened to Joseph. He was faithful to God when everything was going wrong in his life, so God took him from prison and made him a great man in Egypt. Everything that happened in Joseph s life was part of God s big plan. No matter how bad things may get, God is always in control. He has a plan for your life. He will work everything out for your good just as He did for Joseph. BFP: 529
3 Lesson Monday 25 God Is in Control Activities for younger children Draw a picture of the baker s dream. Draw a picture of the cupbearer s dream. Draw a picture of Pharaoh s dream.
4 Lesson Tuesday 25 God Is in Control Activities for older children Choose the correct number to answer each question. (Note: Some numbers will be used more than once. Some numbers will not be used at all.) How many years did Joseph spend in prison? How many baskets of bread were in the baker s dream? How many branches of grapes were in the cupbearer s dream? In how many days did the baker s and cupbearer s dreams come true? How many fat cows were in Pharaoh s dream? How many skinny cows were in Pharaoh s dream? How many years of good harvests would Egypt have? How many years of famine would Egypt have? Read Matthew 25: On the lines below, write some talents God has given you and ways you can use them to glorify Him. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS The Bible says that if we are faithful in little things, God will put us in charge of big things. What were the little things in which Joseph was faithful? What big things did God put in Joseph s charge? What are some areas where you can be faithful? Are there things in your life that seem to be going wrong? Take some time to pray that you will remain faithful, letting God work things out for good in His own time.
