5 General Education Session Log A Load for Kids 101, Why your donations are so important? by Kristen Fritschiek Children s Miracle Network Coordinator Kristen was in the Air Force for 6 years and graduated William Woods University in 1995 with a Bachelors in Marketing and in 2005 with a Master s in Business. I have done everything from work in a Hardware store to selling Pharmaceuticals. I have worked for MU Health Care for 10 years and with the past 4 years being the Coordinator of Children s Miracle Network. The most fulfilling thing about this job is twofold: meeting amazing people like the loggers and helping sick or injured kids have a better quality life. Children s Miracle Network (CMN) National Fast Facts CMN is the alliance of premier children s hospitals in North America. CMN hospitals treat over 17 million children each year for every disease and condition imaginable. CMN serves its hospitals by raising the much needed funds to pay for life saving equipment, charity care, and break through research. CMN raises funds through a number of corporate sponsors and events such as Radiothon. Since 1983, CMN has raised billions for hospitalized children most of which was donated a dollar or two at a time. CMN was co-founded by Marie Osmond and John Schneider through the Osmond Foundation in CMN at MU Children s Hospital Local CMN Programs raised approximately $1,056, in This is the 3nd year of breaking the million dollar mark! MU Children s Hospital is one of 170 CMN Hospitals and became affiliated with CMN in CMN has raised millions of dollars for MU Children s Hospital since All money raised in Mid-Missouri stays in Mid-Missouri benefiting MU Children s Hospital. Donations to CMN are used to fund programs, purchase equipment and provide education for staff and patients. How CMN Funds are used at Children s Hospital CMN funds are used for the greatest need at Children s Hospital that will provide the most benefit to our patients. 100% of donations are kept local. NO child is ever turned away due to their family s inability to pay. Sawmill Residuals, Market Trends in Missouri and Beyond by Brian Brookshire Executive Director, Missouri forest Products Association Sawmill residual markets have drastically changed since Verso closed their doors approximately one year ago. MFPA has been responding to member concerns regarding the future for sawmill residuals and we have launched a study to investigate new and emerging markets for the material.
