1 Trinity Lutheran Church 18 E. North St. P.O. Box 37 Jeromesville, OH SUNDAY WORSHIP 10:30 a.m. Christian Education 9:00 a.m. Pastor Jerry Rhea Make Jesus Known Trinity Highlights N O V E M B E R lutheransonline.com/trinityjeromesville Happy Thanksliving! No, that s not a typo up there. Last year at about this time my family was struggling along on a monthly income well below poverty level. The experience gifted me with a heightened sense of thanks both then and now for God s presence in my life. For about six months, we were pretty much in God s hands and (although I m glad our situation has improved) it was an amazing experience. My family and I were at the receiving end of several miraculously well-timed gifts and other shows of support from family, friends, and church members. It is difficult to express how meaningful these acts of kindness were; not just because they were needed, but because they reflected deliverance of God s promise to care for us. That is a gift that keeps giving and a blessing that keeps blessing. Of all the things I am thankful for this November, my faith in God tops the list. Because of my faith in Him, I can slowly learn to worry less about what I don t have, or can t do and more on giving thanks for what I do have and can do. And when I fully realize all the riches I have, I realize that I have much to share, even in the darkest times. Living in a state of thankfulness makes for... happy thanksliving. I highly recommend it. So did Jesus (Matthew 6:25-34). - Cassy Brown November Giving November Benevolence will go to Lutheran World Relief. The Hillsdale CARES Bread Ministry is requesting canned green beans. These should be turned in to the church by November 11. Trinity Lutheran is a member of the North American Lutheran Church. The November Food from Our Father meal will be on Thursday, November 15 from 5-7 p.m. Meals are free and open to the community on the third Thursday of each month. Make a Change for November will go toward adopting a family for the Christmas holidays. If anyone is interested in coordinating this year s shopping efforts, please contact Cassy Brown or Shannon Canfield.

Please include your name so you can be contacted for updates. Newsletter Info Trinity Highlights is a monthly newsletter for members and friends of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeromesville, Ohio. The newsletter is available by U.S. Mail and . Paper copies are also available at the church. LORAC Thank you Dear friends in Christ, On behalf of the LORAC and the entire Sky VBS team of volunteers, I would like to thank you for the multitude of ways you helped support this summer s Sky VBS. There were 81 children and youth, almost triple the number we had last year. Each child received dinner each evening, and at the end of the week received a new pair of shoes, bookbag and school supplies, just in time for school. Seeds of God s love were planted and we can all pray that those seeds continue to grow, blossom and bear fruit in ways we may never see. We are assured by God s word that whatever we do for the least of these, we do for Christ himself (Matthew 25). Harlan County is one of the poorest in the nation, so they will continue to need our love, prayers and support in the years ahead. May God continue to give more than we could ever ask for or imagine as we remain rooted in God s great love (Ephesians 3:17). In His Service, Pastor Deb Michaels The deadline for the December issue of Trinity Highlights will be Sunday, November 18. News, announcements or subscription requests may be sent to the church at trinityjville@neohio.twcbc.com T R I N I T Y H I G H L I G H T S

6 P A G E 6 Hillsdale CARES Updates We met our goal of collecting 200 boxes of pasta for the CARES bread ministry. Thanks to all who participated by donating and/ or participating in our Pasta Party. By popular request, the recipe for our most interesting pasta dish, Frog Eye Salad, is printed at the side. Thank you to Sue Bicker. Acini di Pepe Salad (aka: Frogeye Salad) 1 cup acini di pasta 1 cup sugar 1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple 2 eggs, beaten 1 (15 oz) can mandarin oranges 1/2 teaspoon salt 8 oz frozen topping, thawed 1 Tbs (heaping) cornstarch Grapes (halved) Drain pineapple and oranges, reserving juice. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente. Drain. In medium saucepan, combine reserved juice from pineapple and oranges (equal to 1 1/2 cups), sugar, eggs, salt and cornstarch. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Cool, add pasta, and refrigerate overnight. After refrigeration, add pineapple, oranges and grapes. (I also added about 1/2 can of drained pineapple tidbits). Fold in whipped topping. (You can add 7 oz of miniature marshmallows if you want). Keep chilled until served. - Sue Bicker Our next big project is collecting canned green beans for our Thanksgiving boxes.
