Stewardship STEWARDSHIP The Vestry will be prayerfully making final decisions and establish our 2016 budget at the January 17 Vestry meeting. Decisions will be based upon the pledge commitments at that time. Pledge cards may be found on the information table in the entry hall of the church. If you have any questions, please contact our Stewardship leaders Lisa Swain and Michael Grabowski. Being good stewards of God s gifts is an everyday way of living for faithful people. ST. THOMAS CLIMATE CHANGE MINISTRY With the success of the Paris Agreement we have new goals for vital improvements. In January we will plan for actions during The mission will work towards the needs of the whole world for maintaining God's creation for this and future generations. Our next meeting is on January 4, at 7:00 p.m. downstairs in the Undercroft. For more information, contact Karl Krauss at ktkdelaware@gmail.com or go to Worship THE FEAST OF THE EPIPHANY: W.O.O.W. -- The Feast of the Epiphany is celebrated on January 6, the twelfth night of the Christmas Season. At St. Thomas s, we celebrate this principal feast day in a W.O.O.W. kind of way, which means Wildly Out Of Wonder! We are in the planning stages for a gathering on Wednesday evening, January 6 in the Great Hall at 6:00 p.m. for a potluck supper. We will begin with a liturgy of Evening Prayer followed by supper. The main course will be provided, so your offerings of salad, vegetable, side dish, or desserts are appreciated. The sign-up sheet is on the Great Hall door bulletin board, so please join us with your gift to share in food and fellowship with all! After supper we will gather around the Christmas greens that have adorned the church in the parking lot and burn them on our REALLY BIG FIRE to welcome the light of the Season of Epiphany. 3 CENTERING PRAYER AT SAINT THOMAS - The Centering Prayer Group meets on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. in the Parlor. Silence is the language of Spirit. FORWARD DAY BY DAY is a publication that may help. It contains Bible readings and devotions and is issued quarterly. They are available in pocket size and large print and can be found in the top shelf of the publications rack in the entry hall. The cost of the booklet is a free will donation. Education NOVEL THEOLOGY - Novel theology meets the second Sunday of each month at 9:15 a.m. in the classroom, off the Great Hall. Here is an opportunity. The Coalition to Dismantle the New Jim Crow in Newark meets at St. Thomas s the third Monday of the month. The next meeting is Jan. 17 at 5:00 p.m. in the classroom off the Great Hall. Pastoral Care PASTORAL CARE MINISTRY The Pastoral Care Ministry members provide many services to our parish family. Pastoral Care is not just for prayers and lay eucharistic visits, but also for prayer shawls, note/cards, hospital/home visits, rides and meals. There are many needs within our parish family and we continue to reach out a hand in Christian fellowship. Whenever you know of a need or can lend a hand, please contact Donna Weaver at dweaver214@gmail.com or the parish office. Service THE GIFT OF FLOWERS - Each week, during the appropriate Church seasons, a Flower Guild member creates the arrangement that adorns the church. Currently we only have four members. We would love to have you join us- the more the merrier! We will provide training in January and a schedule so you would know in advance when it's your turn to create the arrangement. 4 OUTREACH - The Outreach Committee will have an interest meeting on Sunday, January 10, 2016 following the 10:30 service in the parlor. All are welcome. Please think about ways that our Parish can reach out to the community. NEWARK AREA WELFARE COMMITTEE'S FOOD CUPBOARD - There is a need for canned tomatoes, canned kidney, red or black beans, instant potatoes, jelly, ketchup, mayonnaise, tuna, macaroni and cheese. Contributions go in the baskets as you enter the Sanctuary. The NAWC Food Cupboard also needs volunteers to distribute food at the Cupboard housed at the United Methodist Church on Main St. The Cupboard hours are from 2:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
