3 Applefest News Twice Loved Treasures will be collec ng dona ons each day of the week star ng Monday, Oct. 29 through Friday, Nov. 2. Please bring your items to the gym. We will NOT be accep ng TVs or computers. However, we will be happy to receive any household items, furniture, children s toys, lawn and garden items and tools. Silent Auc on It s not too early to start thinking about what you can donate for this year s Silent Auc on. As in the past, items are needed for the Theme Baskets, in addi on to miscellaneous items. Last year, there were 73 baskets and 135 miscellaneous items in the Silent Auc on which totaled over $10,000 for the chari es. Contact Tish Haythorn at or Linda Walters at if you would like to donate. In response to Hurricane Florence, Faith Promise funds have been used to provide the First United Methodist Church of Cheraw a generator to ease the burden of pumping water from their foundational basement. Rev. Kim Eanes is their pastor, and she is also the daughter of St. John s members Jewell and Jim Eanes. There is still much uncertainty in the area, but we look to partner with First UMC of Cheraw to meet other needs within their church family and area once those needs are defined. Thank you, God, for providing Faith Promise offerings to make this gift possible. If you would like to make a contribution to further the Hurricane Florence relief efforts, please write UMCOR-Hurricane Relief into the memo line of your check or give online using the fund named UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). We are grateful for the legacy gi of Emmie and Monty Montgomery along with the amazing giving from this congrega on that has allowed us to con nue growing our ministries. On Thursday, September 13 the Charge Conference voted to purchase the SCE&G Building located on Barnwell Ave., behind the church. Further informa on on the purchase of this property will be shared with the congrega on, as decisions are made. Dr. Tim would like to thank Steve Lathrop and the United Methodist Men for nominating him for the prestigious Society of John Wesley award. He would also like to express his appreciation to each of the members of the St. John s congregation for allowing him the continued opportunity to serve.
