It has always been the custom to honor St John with the 9 day novena in a different home each day. Please call soon if you want to do one day. The Novena will begin Friday, June 16th and end on Sunday, June 24th. In July we honor Our Lady of Mt Carmel. Her feast day is July 16th. Then in September we honor our Blessed Mother on her birthday September 8th. Please know that we have a very prayerful parish. We also have our little churches (capillitas) with the Holy Family that travel from house to house every day. We have five groups of 30 people in each one. In December we have the Posadas (Re-enactment of Mary and Joseph looking for a place to stay. They are prayed in the homes and people do attend the posadas in the homes. 3 NATIVITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CHURCH FAITH FORMATION CIRCLE OF GRACE We have a new program to replace the old Protect our Children program. Sister Edna from the Archdiocese Religious Education office will be coming to Nativity on Saturday, June 23rd to provide Circle of Grace training for all of our Catechists. This is a MANDA- TORY program, so each person who teaches children needs to be trained before they can start classes in the Fall. If you have not already attended this training, please plan to be at the Pastoral Center from 9-11 am on the 23 rd. Please also call Francesca at to let us know that you will be attending. Thank you! PARENT MEETINGS If you haven t attended ANY of the meetings for Confirmation or First Communion parents, please contact the Faith Formation office at x 2 to schedule an individual meeting. Thank you! REGISTRATION FOR FALL CATECHISM Registration for the Fall IS OPEN! SPREAD THE WORD! We want to make sure that everyone between the ages of four and seventeen is registered for catechism at the appropriate level. We are especially looking for 4 and 5 year olds to start their faith journey with us! Please make sure you tell your family, friends and neighbors that Nativity has catechism for every year of their childhood. All kids are welcome to come and learn about God, his Son and their Holy Spirit with us. There is no fee, as this is a gift to the children from the parishioners of Nativity. See Francesca for a registration form or register online. CATECHISTS NEEDED FOR THE FALL As always at this time of the year, we find out that a few of our catechism teachers will not be able to return in the Fall. We are looking for people to help us for our Sunday 8:45 a.m. session and also for our Wednesday evening session. Please prayerfully consider becoming a catechist and teaching our faith to our young people. What a more rewarding ministry could there be? When you have decided to help us, please call Francesca at the Faith Formation office We thank you! ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO INQUIRY SESSIONS Are you curious about the Catholic faith? Would you like to learn more about the faith and ask your questions to someone who can help? Don t want to wait til September to get your answers? CLOTHING DONATIONS Our parish no longer has the facilities for collecting or storing clothes here anymore. That does not mean we should stop donating. We encourage you to please take your clothes donations to St Felix Pantry on Barbara Loop in Rio Rancho. Take the men s clothing to the Good Shepherd Center on Iron Street in Albuquerque or to St Martin s rd St NW. They help the homeless. There are so many worthy collection centers in the city. What a great opportunity to get to know the organizations that you are supporting through your donations. Thank you! While this had ended in ruin for their ancestors, many of Jesus' contemporaries longed for the restoration of an earthly kingdom. Jesus' words in today's Gospel are a radical departure from this perspective. He compares the Kingdom of God to a field, but it appears that the farmer has little to do with its progress. "The seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how. Of its own accord, the land yields fruit." Jesus introduces his followers to a new sort of kingdom, a kingdom where God provides the growth. There is work to be done, of course. "When the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come." But for the Kingdom of God to flourish, there are certain things that are outside of our control. We sow seeds of kindness, justice, and integrity? and then we must be patient. As shoots of faith appear, we nurture the growth with encouragement. As Christians, our task is not to build the Kingdom of God under our power alone, but to trust in the life-giving movement of God.
