1 g{x V{tÜÄÉààx XÇV{tÅtwx V{tÜÄÉààx V{tÑàxÜ AMERICAN GUILD OF ORGANISTS AUGUST 2013 YÜÉÅ à{x Wxá~ Éy à{x WxtÇAAA T s we're in the thick of summer, are you having fun? Are you enjoying some much-needed recreation and relaxation? Have you been to places exotic? I hope that you are able to answer yes to these questions, as we ALL need some time to reset our minds and our bodies, and the summer is a great time to do it! My summer has been full of music making in so many ways, and I've enjoyed every minute of it. It has also been a summer full of change as we've witnessed an organ materializing in front of our eyes at my church. I've learned more in the past month about organ building than I learned in two semesters of organ building in college! Have you been to our summer recitals? It has been a great summer of hearing our colleagues and new friends play programs that run the gamut from challenging to entertaining. And this is all for a wonderful cause as we support our budding organists in the area through our gifts to the Stigall Scholarship Fund. We have one more month of recitals left. I hope to see all of you at some point. You get extra points for bringing your friends! A final note here to remind you that we have a Regional Convention coming up in After almost a year of wonderful service to our chapter as the Regional Convention Chairperson, Patrick Pope has chosen to shift into serving on one of the many committees that makes the Regional Convention run smoothly. We celebrate Patrick's service thus far, and thank Timothy Belk for accepting the challenge of leading us forward as Regional Convention Chair. Our Regional Convention Committees are doing an AMAZING job of putting our offerings together for I hope that you will find a way to serve this wonderful endeavor of our chapter! See you Sunday evening! Adam Ward, Dean The mission of the American Guild of Organists is to enrich lives through organ and choral music. To achieve this, we: Encourage excellence in the performance of organ and choral music; Inspire, educate, and offer certification for organists and choral conductors; Provide networking, fellowship, and mutual support; Nurture future generations of organists; Promote the organ in its historic and evolving roles; and Engage wider audiences with organ and choral music.
