CHILDREN MINISTRY TEAM MEMBERS INTRODUCTION: The children ministry team is a Christ-centered and child-focused ministry which helps local churches to catch the vision for the children s ministry and equip adults who will spiritually impact the children, the church and the community. This is accomplished by training children workers in leadership and teaching methods which will enable them to organize children s ministry and vocational bible schools that will effectively evangelize, disciple and holistically transform children through the Gospel of our lord Jesus Christ. In 2017, CMT worked in 24 areas within Nairobi and upcountry and has over 6 new areas desiring CMT to come and help their children ministry next year. After hearing and observing how God was working through trained children workers and Vacational bible school, pastors in Kalambya Kyusyani, Kericho, Kariobagi, Butere, Busia and Mathare have requested CMT to help them improve the children ministry in their churches, we have had opportunity of meeting these Pastors in regard to the need. The regional leaders and the churches in many areas have caught the vision for the children ministry and are reaching out to children in their communities. This year Chrisco church in Kibera and Free Pentecostal Fellowship of Kenya in Kawangware through their Pastors, they have included children ministry in their church program and budget. Our regional leaders in those areas are working with their pastors in developing strong children workers within their churches and that will reach out into the
community. The regional leader and the pastors in various areas have started conferences, children Rallies and other children related activities in their areas. Some of the areas have started adopting the young people in the ministry as way of mentoring them in the ministry. This year, CMT emphasized on the importance of discipleship to the children. When planning VBS, in all areas, we have encouraged our children mentors to have a plan of discipling the children, this is because we have realized that many kids who gave their life s to Christ didn t have a good discipleship plan in their areas. CMT ACTIVITIES: 1. CHILDREN WORKERS TRAININGS. 2. VACATIONAL BIBLE SCHOOL. 3. SCHOOL MINISTRY (SPIRITUAL NUTURING). 4. CLASS EIGHT CAMP. 5. ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT. CHILDREN WORKERS TRAINING: The children workers trainings are made to equip teachers with skills and teaching methods to teach children and serve them effectively, CMT conducts 5 five levels of training.mainly level 1 which is introduction to children ministry, during this training the teachers are taken through GODS heart for children, how to prepare a evangelistic bible lesson, teaching memory verse and many more. Level 2 is more of discipleship and during this training we help our teachers to develop discipleship plan. Level 3 is geared to children ministry management, during this level of training we help our teachers to recruit more workers, develop leaders within their children church and community. mainly in the following area:- This year CMT conducted 6 children workers trainings
Children workers were held as follows. Venue level attendance Patanisho (Kayole) Two 12 Kee (Makueni) Three 17 Dandora Three 26 Ukunda (south coast) Three 23 Kalambya (Kitui) One 19 Chrisco (Kibera) Three 20 Total 117 Testimonies from the participants (CWT): This training has motivated me to invest more in the children ministry. It has encouraged me to go out and implement new ideas in our church towards the Sunday school program. It has uplifted me spiritually in considering the methods of training and facilitation method in children ministry. I will organize a general meeting for the Sunday school teachers and the church leadership so that we may plan and organize for bible lessons, group discussions and trips for the children so ass to motivate them and encourage them to come to Christ and be obedient to the lord Said Lebah Idalasia from New Life Pentecostal Revival Church Patanisho. This training has challenged me to disciple and recruiting more children workers. It has also reinforced my desire of creating quiet time and bible study. It has also motivated me to organizing Camps for our children the training has added me knowledge of being a good teacher and leader and more tips on teaching my children and bringing the unsaved to salvation..said Ruth Mutindi Kiio from Redeemed Gospel Church Ngiini Kee. The training has impacted my life as a Sunday School Superintendent because I have learned that I will have to pray before making appointments of new teachers and I will have to train those appointed before commissioning them to the service of the children ministry. My Sunday school children will be taught by people who are committed, dedicated and have a passion and love for the children and God s word. My bible club will be a place for discipling children and wining more souls to God s Kingdom..Said Janet Omolo from KAG Dandora.
Vacational bible school (VBS): This year CMT had 16 Vacational Bible School scheduled April and August but due to electioneering in the country we had to push some of them to the month of November and December. Seven (7) were done in the month of April and eight (8) were done in November and one (1) will be done in the month of December. As we visited the various VBSs this year, we noticed some young men and women who had attended our VBSs few years back today they are teaching the young ones in their areas. Our regional leaders have been training and working with them (young adults) to become children workers. All of them did a good Job teaching the Bible lessons and giving an invitation for children to accept Christ. All of our VBSs used teaching Materials from Child Evangelist Fellowship (CEF) and approved workmen are not ashamed (AWANA). These materials are easy to teach and follow and makes salvation easy to explain. The materials are not only equipped with Bible lesson but also with memory verses for each day and fun way to teach it. During the week the teachers gave the children an opportunity to accept Christ as their Savior. We praise the Lord for the big number of children who gave their life s to Christ. CMT annually do organize life kills for the class eight students, during the Camp they prepared to transition from primary to secondary. Over there years we have seen this to be very transformative and life changing event. Our campers over the year have proved to be different among the equals in school and the society. This year we were much affected by the elections and we were forced to postpone our camp to April though the kids were asking for it, we could not risk in taking them somewhere we couldn t guarantee their safety. School ministry (spiritual nurturing): By the invitation of school teachers, CMT has been conducting spiritual nurturing program in both Government and No formal school, our team of children workers visit different school on every Friday and teach the children for one hour the word of God and
encourage them to grow morally through this program we have seen a great change especially. Teachers, Pastors and parent within the areas of our operation have witnessed a great change in moral behavior. Regions Follow-up. The team made follow-up visits to CMT regions within Nairobi and upcountry to encourage the children workers and receive reports of their ministry. The regions visited were Glory in Kibera, Kiambiu, Korogocho, Ngomongo, Dandora, Soweto, Chrisco, Kawangware, Gatina, Kee, Yala, Gilgil, Kalambya, waita, musukini, and kathonzweni. Other areas were contacted by phone to see how the children s ministry is progressing. Economic empowerment program: Better Care investment and empowerment program was born as a result of the need we saw in Kibera during our ministry, after serving the children of Kibera for some times, we realized there a big need of empowering the community in the area of. CMT through Better Care investment and empowerment program has been running an economic empower program. The purpose of the program is to assist small business people within the slums who live below a dollar a day, to start or boost their businesss, the program got some boost from Rock point church in USA who came inn and helped us big deal in
helping our local people in accessing cash for the same The program has had its own challenges but regardless of the challenges CMT sees a great future for the program. This program which started in Kibera, it later spread to Kawangware and later to Dandora. NO AREA PERSONS AMOUNT 01 Kibera 25 Ksh 280, Kawangware 12 Ksh 250, Dandora 10 Ksh 50,000 Total 47 Total Ksh 580,000 Testimonials from some of our beneficiaries: Before I started taking small loans for business, I was doing nothing and I used to struggle so much with small things in the house due to lack of money, I used feel bad because I had to wait for my husband to take care of all needs in the house.but since when I was introduced by Rev. Peter Ngugi to this Micro finance, I am able to help my husband on some of the house needs.charity Njambi from Dandora said. I have learned to grow my business little by little, I started with very little capital and today my business is able to take care of my basic needs in the house Mary Kaviki from Toi Market. Ministry Partners Visitations: This year CMT had an opportunity of hosting two team of missionaries who visited our ministry in the slums. The first group was from Rock Point Church in the month of Feb and this group visited the Following areas Ngomongo, Korogocho and Kibera. Their visit motivated our children and school heads, the missionaries were such blessing to the ministry by showing their love to our community. In the month of August, CMT received guests from UK, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Taylor having been introduced to us by our ministry partner and friend Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brydges in the month of April, they took their good time to visit us and also shared with us their interest of supporting our ministry through feeding program and school support program.
While on their mission trip in Kenya the following centers were visited and encouraged:- Ngomongo, Korogocho, Kawangware, Ngong. ACHIEVEMENTS: We praise the Lord for the way He has been working in the lives of pastors, children workers, and other Christians in the communities where CMT has a ministry. Children, churches and their communities are being impacted with the Gospel. 1. The number of children accepting Christ in their life s increased. 2. Pastor and church Leaders showing more interest in children ministry compared to years back. Churches in some areas have included Children s Ministry as part of their church programs and in the church budgets. 3. The churches have noticed a growth in their Sunday Schools as a result of the Vacation Bible Schools and improved Sunday school classes. 4. Some of the areas are now planning conferences, children s prayer day, VBS, and children s rallies on their own. 5. Bible clubs were started in various areas to help the children grow spiritually. 6. More young men and women being recruited in the children ministry and being committed and active in it. 7. This year CMT by the grace of God completed the payment of its ministry land 8. Greater Love school in Kawangware signed a five year sponsorship program with Source of Hope (SOH UK). CHALLENGES: CMT faced a few challenges this year that had a big effect on the ministry. 1. Insufficient funds to meet the needs. The shortage of finances limited what could have been accomplished. 2. Being the Chairman of the team, I went through 2 major surgeries which affected my life, ministry and family financially. 3. Lack of good four wheel car, limited us on where we could go and do ministry.
4. Political temperatures in our country affected our ministry big deal. 5. Most of the people we Loaned money for small businesses didn t pay back due to business challenges. Prayer Requests: 1. Pray for our health and our families as we serve the Lord in the Children Ministry Team. 2. Pray for the children being reached, that they will stand strong on their faith and believe in Jesus Christ. 3. Pray for sufficient funds to help us accomplish our 2018 calendar of events as planned. 4. Pray for the pastors, children workers, church leaders, the churches and the communities where we have a ministry. 5. Pray God to provide the four wheels we need for ministry. 6. Pray funds to build the High school as planned. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: I wish to acknowledge the following people and institution for their part in the ministry of CMT. CMT Team Members Pst.
