Crutchley INVOCATION CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 42:1-5 As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, Where is your God? When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance. HYMN N o 648 My Jesus, I Love Thee SCRIPTURE READING Exodus 34:1-9 And the LORD said to Moses, Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke. So be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself to Me there on the top of the mountain. And no man shall come up with you, and let no man be seen throughout all the mountain; let neither flocks nor herds feed before that mountain. So he cut two tablets of stone like the first ones. Now the LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. 3 mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children s children to the third and the fourth generation. So Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped. Then he said, If now I have found grace in Your sight, O LORD, let my LORD, I pray, go among us, even though we are a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your inheritance. CONFESSION OF SIN Responsive: Deacon Nick Clark Leader: Oh LORD, we confess that we have sinned against You in our thoughts, our words, and our actions.. Congregation: You have given us all that we need for life and godliness, but in our distracted lives we choose worldly interests instead of You. Leader: You know our hearts LORD; reveal to us our sins. Help us to surrender our own pursuits and to devote ourselves entirely to You. All: Recreate our hearts and restore to us the joy of Your salvation, that we would abandon our own selfish desires in order to glorify You. Hear us we pray, Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON Micah 7:18 Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy. 5 SREPC PRAYER LIST - OCTOBER 2018 Prayer Requests from this past week, 10/14: Marilyn Bandy - Prayer for 1) holy insight that Roy will see God s grace and mercy and will come to depend wholly on Him, and 2) that God would keep our family close to Him. Lauren Donovan - Prayer for my 4 year old student, Josiah Charles who is back in the hospital. He has a big white sore (staph) and a high fever. Pat Hayes - Prayer for surgery today 10/15 for removal of tumor in lung. Prayer for healing, wisdom for the doctors, comfort, and trust in the Lord. Pat High - Harriet Prigg would like prayer for continuing serious pain and for an accurate diagnosis. Rachel Miller - Our friend Dave Freeman will be having surgery for kidney cancer this Friday, 10/19. Prayer for wisdom for the doctors, healing - also for peace, comfort, and trust in the Lord for him and his family. Tait Powell - Prayer for Ruth and Randy, who are both seeking employment. Continued prayer for ESL. Barb and Doug Smith - Prayer for Pat Hayes and other dear folks who have health issues; for family members who aren t (yet) interested in Christ; that He will reach them. Continue to be mindful of Americans who were caught in Florence and Michael; for health for our congregation and our our neighbors during this flu season. ADDED PRAYER REQUESTS:
