1 Welcome to the New Year of our Lord. Today is a bit of a trip down memory lane, it has been 20 years since Br Theo (still in South Africa) made contact with Apostle Flor in 1997, 9 years since Evangelist John Weder from the Apostolic Church of Queensland-Nundah community visited us the first time in 2008, 9 years since we reconnected and attended the 125 th celebration of the Apostolic Church in Queensland in Queensland at Hatton vale in It is also 7 years since the Unity Apostles Church of New Zealand was registered with the New Zealand Charities Commission (CC43569) and 7 years since the first visit of Apostle Cliff and Sister Heather Flor to Aotearoa Apostle HF Niemeyer Since that time, the Lord Almighty blessed all and through times of trial, challenge, have we all come through supported by the Love that we have for our Lord, Jesus Christ and for one another. Many tears were cried, some in sorrow and many in joy as we were witnesses of God s Grace and Mercy. Our Lord had to suffer the penalties prescribed by the law, as an innocent person, so that God could withdraw the penalties so a new way of Grace could begin. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. The bible tells of the betrayal, taken by force, false witnesses, accused of blasphemy, spat upon, buffeted, smote, bound, put in prison, stripped, crown of thorns, beaten and whipped and the most painful act of scourging. Through all of this our Lord did not retaliate as He knew that He had to show righteousness so that the fullness would be available to take away the sins of the world (Isaiah 53:7). We see the great blessing given the world as a result of the thanks offering of Noah and family. 20 The Lord's temple must be built and completed so that our Lord can walk and dwell therein. As stated, the Lord's temple is built of living stones, these must be found and grooved and placed and shaped to fit therein, so that it is pleasing in the sight of God. It was our Saviour's wish and His design, that His Church should grow and spread, it should stretch forth its boughs and spread its branches wider over the earth, garnering in souls and shielding them from the temptations of the evil one, and giving them spiritual nourishment, the saving fruit of the Gospel truth. The Lord God gives His blessing to the labour of His servants that blessing given at His ascension will be with His servants to the end of the world. 21 We are waiting for Christ's return and for the completion of the New Heaven and New Earth. Only then will the sighing of the creature end. May the precious promises for the future be a comfort to us, but not put us off. In this time of Advent let us be let away from complaints and accusations through the Word and be fastened into the living hope: God is faithful and what He promises He certainly will keep. Advent means arrival and is celebrated four weeks before Christmas, a period of contemplation and preparation, to celebrate the greatest gift from God for mankind, His Son!
