Proverbs 16:3 Parklands Baptist Church is committed to pray for Vision 2040 according to Proverbs Thank you for joining us through this journey of prayer and seeking the face of our God. The Prayer Guide is based on the 7 Vision 2040 Pillars with 2 days through the 2 weeks dedicated to each pillar. The Prayer Guide includes the FAQ s section and at the end of the book are the 9 Vision 2040 Declarations. As you pray, ask God what He would have you commit to Vision In this year of ever-increasing faith do not be limited by what you see in your hands but ask God what He would have you do as He knows the plans He has for you. 3 FOREWORD God has walked with us for the last 43 years since the Church was officially registered by the Southern Baptists missionaries in Parklands Baptist Church is in the same place the children of Israel were in as they gazed at the Promised Land from the borders of the Jordan River. The promises God had given them concerning this land were awesome, and now they were about to be fulfilled. The journey in the wilderness was a school of faith for them. They needed to trust that God would bring them into their inheritance under the leadership of Joshua, who is a picture of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. We have seen God s faithfulness and there has been tremendous growth both in our membership, vision, structures, outreaches, positive influence and impact both locally, regionally and globally. We echo the words of Moses who said the following as he prepared the Israelites before they crossed over: See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land that the LORD swore to give your fathers. TheLORD has increased your numbers so that today you are as many as the stars in the sky. May the LORD, the God of your fathers, increase you a thousand times and bless you as He promised (Deut 1:8, NIV). PBC celebrated 40 years of existence as recognized by the state in 2016 with the theme #CrossingOver, in reference to the Israelites crossing into Canaan, the Promised Land, after 40 years in the wilderness. This was a significant moment for the Church, because it was at this time that the Vision 2040 was birthed. We have a great task and destiny ahead entrusted to us. The Lord is promising to go before us. He has already provided all that it takes to enable us accomplish the Great Commission in this phase of our lives as we put into effect Vision He has not changed. Our mandate has not changed. We must proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom, raise godly leaders and influence our communities positively through the Kingdom 3

4 principles of God s word. We must go and possess that which is already possessed for us by the Living God. We seek collective support and effort from our congregation, membership, partners, and friends; above all, God Almighty to go ahead of us, in order to realize the vision. Arise and shine. Rev. 5 VISION The gospel of the Kingdom of God and its principles proclaimed to every person, godly leaders raised and our communities and the world influenced positively and applying these principles as a way of life. MISSION To make disciples of all nations: to baptize them to membership in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit; to raise them to maturity through discipleship and teaching according to the Great Commission of Christ and prepare them for effective ministry to others. MOTTO Arise and shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. (Isa 60:1). 5

8 What is Vision 2040 It is a strategic framework for PBC s ministry transformation over the next 22 years. It is inspired by the possibilities and opportunities ahead of us and seeks to achieve impactful ministry for growth and sustainability. Why Vision 2040 a) Pillar 1: God and Spiritual Cover Inspired and Spirit led membership with a sense of calling that actualizes the plans and purpose of God. b) Pillar 2: Membership and Leadership Development A Transformed, engaged and empowered people, living a godly lifestyle with a deep sense of belonging through Maturity, Membercare, MILD & Magnification departments. c) Pillar 3: Transformative Missions Increased presence and influence through transformative outreach of the gospel locally, nationally and globally. d) Pillar 4: Infrastructure Development State of the art physical infrastructure and cutting edge technology that meets the spiritual, social and physical needs of the congregation, accommodates growth and demonstrates Christ s excellence. Construction of multi-use facilities distinct to children, youth and adults that provide comfortable, conducive and safe environment, capturing Christ s excellence. Provide space for Recreational Centre, Open Space for Koinonia, that will take care of various groups. Green environment conducive for children to play. e) Pillar 5: Investment and Resource Mobilization A sustainable revenue model that supports the church strategic vision. 8

9 f) Pillar 6: Institutional Development A comprehensive governance and organizational structure that embraces positive change. g) Pillar 7: Implementation, Monitoring, Evaluation and Excellence Service Delivery Informed and timely decision making that drives sustainable and superior organizational performance for excellent service delivery. Who is responsible for Vision 2040 All congregants to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the Vision. PBC encourages all stakeholders to move from the comfort zone to the frontlines of the market place, mission fields locally, continentally and globally in the implementation of this Vision and living out the Great Commission. Each congregant is encouraged to plug in based on their area of expertise or gifting. Where Vision 2040 programmes and projects will be implemented Within the Westlands Campus, Church Plants, Mission Stations and other locations identified for development. On the longterm, construction of a State of the Art Infrastructure (10,000 seater sanctuary, children s sanctuary), Drug Rehabilitation Centre, PBC Secondary School at Kusyombunguo where feasibility studies are currently taking place. 9

How to plug in Through the 4 P s Presence Participation Prayer Provision Vision 2040 is a huge Vision and strategy that will require a lot of skills, talents and financial giving. Funding of Vision 2040 projects will be achieved through congregational giving and establishment of income generating projects. 11 FEB 18 th 2019 Pillar 1: GOD AND SPIRITUAL COVER We acknowledge that God is first and at the center of Vision God is the reason we do all that we do and He is the one who enables us. Pray that we, the PBC family, will be inspired to study the Word of God and that the Holy Spirit- will lead us in this endeavour. Pray that we will have a sense of calling that will actualize the plans and purposes of God for Vision Pray that we shall be faithful in prayer. 11

12 FEB 19 th 2019 Pillar 2: MEMBERSHIP AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Pray that God would raise leaders who are filled with the Holy Spirit and His divine wisdom. Pray that these leaders in the Church will be completely committed and dedicated to serve and do it for the glory of God. Pray for peace and unity amongst the leaders for God is delighted when the saints dwell in harmony; there He commands a blessing. Pray for grace and strength for the leaders for God s work is not by power or might but by the Spirit of God. Pray for the hearts of the leaders; that they would be humble enough to listen to the voice of God and not rely only on their experience and intellect. Ask God to give them a teachable spirit. Pray for the welfare of the leaders in various positions in the Church. Pray that God would prosper them and would watch over the affairs of their families so that the cares and worries of the world would not choke out the fruitfulness of God s Word in their lives and the Church. Pray that our leaders would be temperate in all things; that they would exercise self-restraint at all times and treat everyone with gentleness and respect. 12

13 FEB 20 th 2019 Pillar 3: TRANSFORMATIVE MISSIONS - (Mat 28:18-20) Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Pray for increased presence and influence through transformative out reach of the gospel locally, nationally and globally. Pray that God will provide men and women with a vision and the ability to mobilize the Church for the Great Commission. Pray that each believer will realize that he/she is a missionary and recognize that we are on a mission for the Kingdom. Pray that we will go out into our marketplaces and speak the Good News of the Kingdom of God. Pray that we will give of our resources willingly, deliberately and cheerfully, so that the Church has enough funds to send missionaries to the unreached. Pray for our missions department leaders: The Pastor, coordinator, leaders and all volunteers. Pray for unity, burden and a heart for missions. 13

14 FEB 21 st 2019 Pillar 4: INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT Pray for wisdom, understanding and knowledge upon the infrastructural development team; that God would grant the team divine ideas for every structure set up. Pray for sincerity and integrity in the Property Development and Management Committee; that they would be guided by sincere motives and refute any ulterior motives in the structural development of Vision Pray for unity of mind and purpose in the PDMC team as they actualize the laid out blueprints of the structures. Pray for every contractor and every other service providers to be led by the Spirit of God and demonstrate excellence in their work. FEB 22 nd 2019 Pillar 5: INVESTMENT AND RESOURCE MOBILIZATION 1. GOD IS THE GIVER. (Ecc.5:19) Let us pray with the conviction that it is God who has given us all things. Pray that we will not forget that He is the one who gives us pow er to make wealth. Pray against the spirit of arrogance and worry (1Tim. 6:17, Mat. 6:26-30). 2. GIVING OURSELVES FIRST. (2 Cor. 8:5.) Pray that we shall give of our time, talents and skills. Pray that we will present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. 14

15 FEB 23 rd 2019 Pillar 6: INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT Prayer for Pastors and Church leaders (Jeremiah 3:15, 2 Tim 4:2, Acts 20:28) Pray that our pastors would be empowered by the Holy Spirit as they preach the Word. Pray that they will be bold to speak matters of God s heart and not to seek to please man. May their walk in Christ be filled with patience. May their footsteps bring peace and joy. May their walk be blameless before God. Pray that God will raise them to truly be men and women after His own heart. Pray that our leaders will have grace to remain watchful over themselves, that they may not stray from the Lord s will. Pray that the pastors will handle the flock with care recognizing that they have been purchased by Christ s own blood. We pray that God will set aside those who have strayed away from His will and those seeking to profit off the gospel. AUTHORITY (Hebrews 13:17) Pray against the blinding spirit of pride and arrogance in our Church leaders. May they remain coachable. Pray for the grace to submit to authority of the office that our leaders stand under. Pray that the Lord will give us wisdom to respect the anointing He has placed on these men and women. Pray that ministry will not become a burden for the leaders. May they be a great source of strength to those they mentor. 15

16 FEB 24 th 2019 Pillar 7: IME AND EXCELLENT SERVICE DELIVERY Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Col 3: 23 Pray for informed and timely decision making. Pray for excellence in delivering of services. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established, Proverbs 16:3 Pray that all the PBC plans will be grounded on God alone. Pray that excellence shall be our way of life. FEB 25 th 2019 Pillar 1: GOD AND SPIRITUAL COVER He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Psalm 91:4 Pray that the Lord will cover us with His feathers and keep us under His feathers. Pray that His truth will be our shield and buckler. Pray that we will put our total trust in His protection. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10 Pray that we will be sensitive to hear God so that we know His will concerning us. Pray that we will do God s will and that His spirit will guide us 16

17 FEB 26 th 2019 Pillar 2: MEMBERSHIP AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Pray for fresh and divine ideas in the running of ministry that will enable us reach our youth and children. Pray that no weapon fashioned against our leaders shall prosper. Pray that the true sons of God would be revealed - those who will walk in the revelation of God s Word. Pray that we, as a congregation, will worship God in spirit and in truth. John 4:24. Pray that we shall harness the use of technology to spread the gospel. Pray that members and congregants will live pure and holy lives. Pray for integrity and excellence in terms of service delivery. Pray that the Spirit that was in Daniel would be in our member ship. Pray that we would desire integrity and excellence, exe cuting our duties as a people who will have to give an account on the Day Christ returns. 17

18 FEB 27 th 2019 Pillar 3: TRANSFORMATIVE MISSIONS Pray for our mission stations: Ilchamus, Endo, Mùrang a and Turkana. Thank God for our partnerships with Wheaton Bible Church, World Relief, Houston First Baptist Church, Tokyo Baptist and Somerset Hill Baptist Church. Pray that, by divine appointment, God will cause many more like-minded partners to join us in transforming lives in Kenya, Africa and the world at large. Pray for open doors for mission work in the nations of the World. Pray for God s guidance and leading in the opening of PBC Southgate Church Plant. Pray that more members will heed to the call. Be trained, prepared and equipped for the greater outreach and Go. Pray that our youth and children will be great missionaries to taking the gospel to the ends of the earth. FEB 28 th 2019 Pillar 4: INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT 18 Pray that the PDMC team would build structures according to the patterns laid out by God through the architects. Pray for financial abundance in the Church to enable and provide for the infrastructural development of Vision 2040; that God would provide the resources needed supernaturally. Pray for strength and peace in the PDMC team as they build up the structures of God at PBC; that though they face trying times, they would remain focused on God like Nehemiah in the rebuilding of the wall.

19 MARCH 1 st 2019 Pillar 5: INVESTMENT AND RESOURCE MOBILIZATION WILLINGNESS. (2 Cor. 8:11) Pray that we shall have the willingness to mobilize resources knowing God the Father, our greatest example did the same. Pray that all will come to the realization that it is God s desire that we give of our resources for the work of His Kingdom (Ex. 25:2, 35:5, 21, 29; 1 Chr. 29:14; 2 Cor. 8:12). GIVING CHEERFULLY.(2Cor.8:12., 9:7.) Pray that our giving will be purposeful. Pray that all will give as the Lord has enabled each one. Pray that all giving will be done cheerfully and not grudgingly. 19

20 MARCH 2 nd 2019 Servant Hearted Leadership( Peter 5:1-4) Pray for leaders who are keener to wash others feet than to have their own feet washed. Pray that the gospel will not be tainted by greed. Pray that Church leaders will always remember that they are stewards of all that is in their hands. Strength and Perseverance (Isaiah 40:31) Pray that God will grant us humility and wisdom to to seek you in these times inn times of weariness. We pray that you would raise a solid support system for our leaders. We come against the spirit of loneliness, in Jesus name. We declare that our pastors will hope in you, oh Lord. They will soar like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. MARCH 3 rd 2019 Pillar 7: IME AND EXCELLENT SERVICE DELIVERY The staying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people. Titus 3:8 Pray that anyone involved with Vision 2040 will have a spirit of excellence. Pray people will have passion for what they are undertaking in Vision

21 21 Vision 2040 Declarations 1. Vision 2040 Gen 13:14-15 We decree and declare that we, the people of God, are lifting up our eyes from where we are to behold what God has prepared, revealed and released for us in the kingdom. We intently now look to the north and south, east and west positioned to reach out and possess our God-given inheritance. 2. God and Spiritual Cover Psa 91:1-2 We decree and declare that we shall seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. We shall dwell in the cover of the Most High and find nourishment and rest in the shadow of the Almighty. He will always be our refuge and fortress. In Him we shall trust. 3. Membership and Leadership Development Eph 4:11-16 We decree and declare that God has chosen and gifted the Church with servant-leaders to equip and develop the saints to do the work of the ministry. The body of Christ will then reach the unity of faith and knowledge becoming mature, whole and effective in their influence. 4. Transformative Missions Acts 26:16-18 We decree and declare that God has delivered us through the proclamation of the gospel of the kingdom and has commissioned us, His witnesses to the nations, to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan to God so that as transformed people they may live to the glory of God. 5. Infrastructure and Development Zech 4:6-10 We decree and declare that whatever we shall purpose to do in word and action, we shall do it to the glory of God. We

22 shall work diligently on these developments not as serving men but God. The Lord will reward us because it is not by power, or by might but by His Spirit. 6. Investment and Resource Mobilization II Cor 9:6-15 We decree and declare that God has given us the ability, wisdom and power to make wealth. We give bountifuly, generously and willingly and we shall reap a great harvest. We invest our resources in good soil and our returns are thirtyfold, sixtyfold, and a hundredfold. God s grace abounds towards us so that in all things at all times we may have all that we need for every good work. 7. Institutional Development Acts 20:28-35 We decree and declare that we shall keep watch over ourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has given us oversight. We shall guide and protect the people of God through proper and appropriate leadership and management structures. We shall commend them continually to God so that they may obtain their full inheritance. 8. IM&E and Excellent Service Delivery Dan 6:1-4 We decree and declare that God has placed upon each one of us an excellent divine Spirit to be able to perform our duties well and be accountable in all that we say and do. By wisdom we shall build the house. By understanding it shall be established. By knowledge its rooms will be filled with precious treasures. 9. Living a Kingdom Legacy, Impacting Generations Psa 145:4-5 We decree and declare that we shall live daily the Kingdom mandate and legacy empowered by the Holy Spirit. We shall live to impact our generation and those following; declaring to them the awesome ways of God and His mighty acts. We shall abide in the Vine and produce much fruit that will last. 22
