2 MESSAGE BY LEROY JENKINS "GOO IS OUR REFUGE AI\lD STRENG A VERY PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE." PSALM 46:1 The other day I picked up a newspaper in a large city during a Crusade. The headlines screamed atrocities, world-wide. Every paragraph seemed to evolve around one word, chaos. Murder, rape, theft, drunkeness, dope addiction was the main theme of newspaper happenings throughout our land. The scripture verse in Hosea 8:7 "they shall reap the whirlwind", came to my mind as I glanced over the glorified scandal sheet of sensationalism. A frightening thought jumped out at me; these newspapers carry the same stories world-wide daily to the pec?ple. No wonder we're in such a mess; we're being brainwashed! I looked back through the newspaper again to see if they had any solution to the problems they faced their readers with. None were in sight, except advice to the love-lorn, a column on ettiquette and the daily horoscope. All conceived advice from man, none from God or His Word! I can understand why there is doubt and confusion among God's people. But who has allowed this to take place? God's people! Down through the ages, compromise has provided this staircase to oblivion. The truths of God have been watered down by man's attempt to please each other rather than God. We have a "social gospel" proclaimed instead of the pure unadulterated Word of God fearlessly and boldly presented to His people! Let me remind you that this isn't new, it just hasn't started in the past few centuries. Paul was faced with this during his time. In Galatians 1:10-12 he wrote: "For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." In I Thessalonians 2:4 "But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak: not as pleasing men but God which trieth our hearts." In the book of James 4:4, James puts it on the line too: "whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." These men in the New Testament had the same problem but they had the solution and used it successfully. Peter and John gave answer to the rulers and elders in Acts 4: when they were commanded not to "speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus." Their reply was; "whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge yeo For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard:' Ever Since God took over miraculously in my life, I have faced these same circumstances in my ministry. Notice, in the New Testament church who was their greatest adversary? The organized church! Those who could not and would not accept the reality of the supernatural ministry of God. The same thing is going on today! I have had many people who attend my Crusades to write and speak to me personally of being discouraged by pastor and church-member alike. When they would tell the pastor or church member about God's miracles taking place in a Crusade and souls being

born-again, the favorite scriptural reply would be Matthew 8:21-23 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." What a deplorable way to put down people who have received blessings and strength from a ministry that God has ordained. If it is Satan who is causing people to turn to God, healing countless afflictions and incurable diseases... he's not as bad as I thought he was! We know that this is not true, God's Word is twisted by those who want to deny His power in the world today. It is disclaimed mainly by those who have not experienced the Holy Ghost in their lives and have not taken time out to seek all that God has for them. The scripture verse preceding the ones quoted above is usually overlooked by those seeking to tear down and discredit; Matthew 7:20 "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." Check out this ministry and see if God hasn't blessed with a bountiful supply of fruit! Praise God! I know what God has done for me. I had no real knowledge of Him when! encountered Him. He saved me, healed me and baptized me with the Holy Ghost. He ordained me to evangelize and tell those who would listen, this complete Gospel message. Since that time, thousands have been saved, healed and filled with the Holy Ghost. In fact, in the Crusade I'm in I have seen this happen each night. God is moving in our midst whenever He is allowed this freedom. He does not impose on anyone but He will bless His people when they release their faith and become completely dependent on Him. I cannot and will not judge, God has instructed me not to in His Word. In my ministry I face criticism constantly. I am unorthodox in many things that I do, therefore I am censured. I can only repeat the words of Peter and John: "whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge yeo For I cannot but speak the things which I have seen, heard and experienced." My Lord had the same problem to~nd he expressed His feeling in Matthew chapter 23, read it all it will be enlightening. At the beginning of the message, I wrote these words: Psalm 46: 1 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." We cannot look to man but unto God for our salvation. We as individuals must turn to God as well as our church leaders and national leaders if we Wlilnt our nation to survive and be in one piece when He comes again. Let us all turn our efforts to one theme, preaching the Good News of salvation including the dividends of deliverance, healing, the Gifts of the Spirit and His coming again. God grant that we who name the name of Jesus upon our lips and our hearts be ever mindful to keep our lamps trimmed and our vessels filled with oil in preparation for the Bridegroom. "Even so, come Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen." Revelations 22:20-21.

When my mother came in the next morning to get me up for school, I was in so much pain I couldn't walk. She took me to the doctor and the doctor sent me from his office to the Hospital. I stayed there 32 days, when I was discharged they told my mother that I would be crippled the rest of my life and that my one side would grow shorter than the other. In December, 1969, my mother read in the paper about Rev. Jenkins' coming crusade. I asked her what she thought about Rev. Jenkins making me well again and getting off the crutches. She told me that through God all things were possible if I would believe. She brought me to Brother Jenkins meeting and he called me out. I had never experienced or seen a miracle happen. Brother Jenkins prayed the prayer of faith for me that God would heal my foot. I felt the mighty healing power of God like a fresh shower running through my veins down through my foot. God touched and healed my foot in a moment's time. I picked up my foot and used it. I'm walking on it, Praise God! It's so wonderful, God can, He has and He did! How I praise Him for His healing power.

Jenkins told me when he called me out of the audience that I had a condition in my stomach that God had showed him. He said that I would not have to go back to the hospital. (I had been scheduled for surgery in 90 days for gall stones.) He prayed and said that God had healed me. r believed him because I felt the witness of God's power go through my stomach and back. Through his experience it has made me a believer and has strengthened and built my faith in God.
