1 March 18th, 2018 THE POWER OF GOD S NAMES JEHOVAH NISSI & JEHOVAH TSABA Terry Baldwin 1 [ TITLE SLIDE ] We are studying Names of God so we can give Glory DUE His Name We studied ELOHIM - The Creator God JEHOVA - The self Revealing God ADOAI - The Master, the Ruler If you want to Experience the Power of ELOHIM, we need to pursue a Relation with JEHOVAH through submitting to ADONAI TODAY: 2 New Names JEHOVAH NISSI & JEHOVAH TSABA Both Names deal with Battles - All of US have BEEN in Battles / ARE in / GOING to be - Life brings Conflict - Things that seek to DEFEAT / DESTROY / DISCOURAGE DEPRESS / want to RUIN you - These are Names we can come to know in our Battles Jehovah will REVEAL Himself in these times NISSI & TSABA [ Exodus 17.8 NKJV ] Now Amalek (his people are called the Amelikites) came and fought with Israel in Rephidim.

2 2 Remember what the Amalekites did to you along the way when you came out of Egypt. When you were weary and worn out, they met you on your journey and attacked all who were lagging behind [typically women and children]: they had no fear of God. - Deuteronomy 25 ( Grand children of Esau / Esau and Jacob ) - Amelikites sought to bring Israelites down... Just as your Spiritual enemy JEHOVAH NISSI The LORD our Banner...Banners were used to LEAD people out to fight under [ Exodus NIV ] Moses said to Joshua, Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands. 10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. - Moses tells Joshua to go on GROUND LEVEL and Fight - Moses goes UP ON MOUNTAIN and raises Staff to God -As long as Moses arms were raised... Enemy was pushed back What was Happening on ground with enemy... REALLY wasn t happening on the ground with enemy... It was determined by what was happening on Hill with Moses Reason we LOSE battles... We Fight in Valley with NO staff on the Hill - We enter into PHYSICAL battles - NEGLECTING (in part or full)... SPIRITUAL battles If you spend more focus on the things you re fighting than the God you re appealing to, Don t be surprised that the battle doesn t go in your direction Focus on God - - WHILE still carrying out what God gives you down here... HEAVEN HAS JOINED THE BATTLE...JEHOVAH NISSI

3 3 Those in the Valley were very DEPENDENT on the Mountain [ Exodus NKJV ] But Moses hands became heavy... ( Like you and I, Moses got tired ) - When battling something everyday... over & over - You get tired... Your hands get heavy - You don t want to: PRAY everyday / READ BIBLE / TALK / GO TO CHURCH... Tired of Fighting [ Exodus NKJV ] But Moses hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. You re going to get Tired... demons are not going to give up You need an Aaron & Hur!!! You and I may be strong at beginning... - You NEED people in your Life... what kind??? Who BELIEVE IN YOUR God - Who are willing to APPEAL TO HEAVEN... - Even though you have to fight down here... - Your BATTLEs ARE WON IN ANOTHER LOCATION...Heavenly places (...Many think... oh he s talking about prayer and quietly tune out!!!) As a Christian we re called to live in 2 places at same time - We re suppose to Fight in Valley UNDER Banner of God - Jehovah Nissi - Jehovah wants to REVEAL Himself to you

4 - To show us that the Spiritual handles the Physical Everything Visible & Physical... is preceded by the Spiritual & Invisible 4 If You Want to Deal With Visible and Physical You Must Address the Invisible and Spiritual - Get Heaven Involved in the Fight!!... Get someone BIGGER! - The Visible & Physical Must yield to the Invisible & Spiritual [ Ephesians 2.6 AMP ]...He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus - We Battle ON EARTH... but we battle FROM Heaven...HOW??? EXAMPLE: Today... Technology you can be in Board meeting in New York WHILE sitting in Rochester - You re PHYSICALLY HERE WHILE ACTUALLY THERE God says, I want you to transfer the battles on Earth to the God in heaven because the God in heaven is bigger than who ever you re fighting on earth. JEHOVAH NISSI [ Exodus NLT ] After the victory, the Lord instructed Moses, Write this down on a scroll as a permanent reminder, and read it aloud to Joshua: I will erase the memory of Amalek from under heaven. 15 Moses built an altar there and named it Yahweh-Nissi (which means the Lord is my banner ). We need to be like Jacob who wrestled with God - Raise our hands to Heaven

World of Insecurity & Fear We live in a Galiath World - WHATEVER you are Fighting today, I want you to give it a name... Galiath

Little David comes and hears the THREATS 6 [ 1 Samuel 17.26b NIV ] Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God? [ 1 Samuel 17.36b NIV ]...this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them (the lion and the bear), because he has defied the armies of the living God. - Galiath 9 10 / David Army of Israel LOOKING UP... Terrified by giant - David looking STRAIGHT AHEAD... saying He hasn t been circumcised! - CIRCUMCISION was a sign of the Covenant - Israel boys were Circumcised 8 days old - We are placing you under the COVERING of God - The Covenant was like an UMBRELLA - Umbrellas don t stop it from raining... just stops it on you - It s a COVERING... covenant! - David was saying... He may be big, but he is uncovered! NO DIVINE PROTECTION on HIM This changed David s perspective...perspective is everything!! STORY: Father with 2 sons... NEGATIVE / POSITIVE - Negative in room full of toys / Positive in barn for of horse poo - Positive digging With all this horse poo there s got to be a pony under here somewhere!

7 7 IF YOU CAN GET YOUR EYES ON GOD, EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN T MISS THE GIANT, IT CHANGES EVERYTHING King Saul tries to give David his Armor... David rejects it and goes out with just a sling & stones [ 1 Samuel NKJV ] So the Philistine said to David, Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. - FIRST / Philistines vs Israel - THEN / Galiath vs Israel - THEN / Galiath vs David - THEN / Galiath s god vs David s GOD... NOW we have a battle of gods... not just men YOU WANT TO GET GOD IN THE BATTLE...!!!! [ 1 Samuel 17.45a NKJV ] Then David said to the Philistine, You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts. (JEHOVAH TSABA - The LORD our Warrior) - Galiath had his army... GOD has His army - GOD s Army is the Host of Heaven coming to your aid!! EXAMPLE: Football - Entire defensive line wants the quarterback cause he has the Ball - Quarterback hands off, so now everyone is after the fullback David hurls the Stone into Galiath s head / Cuts it off - David give head to Saul BUT KEEPS THE SWORD

8 - We need REMINDERS of what God has done 8 - Write down when GOD delivers you from your Galiaths!!!! - JEHOVAH NISSI / TSABA victory! - Keep writing the Bible!
