What did Mashiyach say for us to do? (Part 1) All covenant must come with rules, instructions, guidelines. Why? This helps one not to break or dishonor the agreement. Example: Ex. 19:5 Now therefore, if you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: Ex. 19:6 And you shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an set-apart nation. These are the words which you shall speak unto the children of Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel}. Ex. 19:7 And Mushah {Mosheh/Moses} came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which Yahuah commanded him. Ex. 19:8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that Yahuah has spoken we will do. And Mushah {Mosheh/Moses} returned the words of the people unto Yahuah. We this to be true of Abraham as well. But what about in the Brit [h] Chadashah? When Mashiyach speaks of a covenant, in some translations testament, was there any requirements from Him? Matt. 28:18 And Yahusha came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matt. 28:19 Go you therefore, and teach all nations, immersiong them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Set-apart Spirit: Matt. 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Mushah {Mosheh/Moses}, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Mashiyach to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Luke 24:48 And you are witnesses of these things. Is. 2:3 And many people shall go and say, Come you, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahuah, to the house of the Alahiym of Ya aqub {Ya aqob/jacob} ; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Yahuah from Jerusalem. John 12:44 Yahusha cried and said, He that believes on me, believes not on me, but on him that sent me. John 12:45 And he that sees me sees him that sent me. John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believes on me should not abide in darkness.
John 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. John 12:48 He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. John 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. If we are to understand the covenant, and if we are to understand the purpose of Mashiyach, we must listen to the words that comes out of His mouth. Words written and or witnessed by His followers. John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commandments. John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you. John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. John 14:19 Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see me: because I live, you shall live also. John 14:20 At that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. John 14:21 He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. If our words or deeds do not add up to His, we will not make it into the kingdom. Matt. 23:1 Then spoke Yahusha to the multitude, and to his talmadiym {disciples}, Matt. 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Mushah {Mosheh /Moses } seat: Matt. 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not you after their works: for they say, and do not. Shem tob Mattityahu Matt. 23:2 The Pharisees and sages sit upon the seat of Mushah {Mosheh/Moses}. Matt. 23:3 Therefore, all that he says to you, diligently do, but according to their enactments {takanot} and their deeds {ma asim} do not do, because they talk but they do not do. Notice the difference in translation. An older copy states do all what Mushah {Mosheh/Moses} say to you. But not what the Pharisees and sages tell you. Why? Because what they teach is takanots and ma asim. Takanots are enactments or manmade commandments, or Rabbinic reforms. Ma asim are deeds, precedents, or acts of something. John 7:14 Now about the midst of the feast Yahusha went up into the temple, and taught. John 7:15 And the Yahudiym marveled, saying, How knows this man letters, having never learned?
John 7:16 Yahusha answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. John 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of Alahiym, or whether I speak of myself. John 7:18 He that speaks of himself seeks his own esteem: but he that seeks his esteem that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. John 7:19 Did not Mushah {Mosheh/Moses} give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why go you about to kill me? Mark 7:5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not your talmadiym {disciples} according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands? Mark 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well has Yashayahu prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Mark 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Mark 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of Alahiym, you hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things you do. Mark 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well you reject the commandment of Alahiym, that you may keep your own tradition. Mashiyach is very clear. The Pharisees created their own laws, commandments, tradition, and doctrine. They made them higher than Alahiym Laws and Commandments. They rejected the commandments of Alahiym. Mashiyach however was not teaching or doing their laws commandments and traditions, pertaining the proper way of Alahiym. Matt. 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought you to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Matt. 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? Matt. 19:17 And he said unto him, Why call you me good? there is none good but one, that is, Alahiym: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments. Matt. 19:18 He says unto him, Which? Yahusha said, You shall do no murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Matt. 19:19 Honor your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? Luke 10:26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how read you? Luke 10:27 And he answering said, You shall love Yahuah your Alahiym with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:28 And he said unto him, You have answered right: this do, and you shall live. Mark 12:28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
Mark 12:29 And Yahusha answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel} ; Yahuah our Alahiym is one adun {adon} : Mark 12:30 And you shall love Yahuah your Alahiym with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment. Mark 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Mark 12:32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, you have said the truth: for there is one Alahiym; and there is none other but he: Mark 12:33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. Mark 12:34 And when Yahusha saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, You are not far from the kingdom of Alahiym. And no man after that does ask him any question. Let s take a look at a passage that has been misquoted for some time now: Matt. 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy {καταλύω kataluo Desolve, do away with, throw down}, but to fulfil {πληρόω pleroo fully preach, perfect, supply.}. In the Hebrew the word there for destroy is הפר hafer. In the binyan [verb stem] hifil from the root פרר to break, destroy make void. He did not come to do this. Scripture example. o Num. 30:13 Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void {annul it}. o Here we can see that her husband can void or annul a vow. Mashiyach is stating that He did not come to void, annul the law. o If we believe He was the bridegroom at Mount Sinai, and gave His bride these instructions called laws, He would be the one to void them out. However, since they agreed to them They became binding. So it leads us to the next word. The Hebrew word for fulfill here is להשלים L hash liym. This word means to make whole, complete, fill, fulfill etc. It does not mean to release as in permanent release from something. Example: o Matt. 3:15 And Yahusha answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becomes us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. o Does this mean all righteousness is fulfilled? Now we no longer need to be righteous? Absolutely not. This parallels in Romans 3:31: Do we then make void {καταργέω katargeo,} the law through faith? Alahiym forbid: yea, we establish { ἵστηµι histemi,} the law ἵστηµι histemi, his -tay-mee; a prolonged form of a primary στάω stao (of the same meaning, and used for it in certain tenses); to stand (transitively or intransitively), used in various applications (literally or figuratively): abide, appoint, bring, continue, covenant, establish, hold up, o Rom. 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not
after the flesh, but after the Spirit {The law is spiritual Rom. 7:14}. o James 2:8 If you fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you do well: Matt. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matt. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Greek to English Lexicon of the New Testament: insignificant, unimportant, trivial, of little value, etc. Matt. 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. John 17:17 Purify them through your truth: your word is truth. John 17:18 As you have sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. John 17:19 And for their sakes I purify myself, that they also might be purified through the truth. Psa. 119:142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your law is the truth. Psa. 119:151 You are near, O Yahuah; and all your commandments are truth. o Mashiyach said the Psalms is called scripture. So from scripture we are told what is called truth. The point of the covenant in Mashiyach, is to restore you back to the Father. To forgives your sins. To make you a new creature, thereby having the opportunity to be a part of the Kingdom that is to come. Matt. 6:33 But seek you first the kingdom of Alahiym, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. How you we seek the Kingdom, and His righteousness? Before we seek the Kingdom. We need to understand what His righteousness is. Deut. 6:25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before Yahuah our Alahiym, as he has commanded us. Psa. 119:172 My tongue shall speak of your word: for all your commandments are righteousness. Is. 48:18 O that you had hearkened to my commandments! then had your peace been as a river, and your righteousness as the waves of the sea: Is. 51:5 My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.
Is. 51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished. Is. 51:7 Hearken unto me, you that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear you not the reproach of men, neither be you afraid of their reviling. Seeking the Kingdom John 3:5 Yahusha answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of Alahiym. Matt. 7:21 Not everyone that says unto me, Master, Master, shall enter into the kingdom of {Ps. 40:8 I delight to do your will, O my heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven Alahiym: yea, your law is within my heart.}. Keep in mind Yahusha has given us clues as to what is required to make it into the Kingdom Matt. 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Master, Master, have we not prophesied in your name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? Matt. 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity. Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of Alahiym: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of Alahiym. Luke 8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then comes the devil, and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luke 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. Luke 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Luke 8:16 No man, when he has lighted a candle, covers it with a vessel, or puts it under a bed; but sets it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. Luke 8:17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. Luke 8:18 Take heed therefore how you hear: for whosoever has, to him shall be given; and whosoever has not, from him shall be taken even that which he seems to have. Luke 8:19 Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press. Luke 8:20 And it was told him by certain which said, Your mother and your brethren stand without, desiring to see you. Luke 8:21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of Alahiym, and do it.
Luke 11:27 And it came to pass, as he spoke these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare you, and the paps which you have sucked. Luke 11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of Alahiym, and keep it. What things did Alahiym said to do or keep? More on this in the next lesson.
