7 Breaking Soul Ties Words My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. - Psalm 45:1 (NKJV) Moreover, another important verse echoing the same sentiments says: Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. - Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV) When looking at those two passages of scripture, it explicitly shows the strength your tongue carries; symbolising the power in your words! That the words you constantly speak over your life, the life of others and overall what you speak out, will become your reality. Your words today have the power to create your tomorrow! 48

8 Dephne Madyara Indeed, when God created you, He made you in His image according to His likeness (see Genesis 1:26-27). Just as God brought forth this world and all that is in it, through the power of His Word, you too have that same ability. You were birthed with the ability to create through your words. This is why you find other religions or people who are not necessarily Christians, believing in the power of words and branding this God given ability as the Law of Attraction. They are right about the belief of the power of words, however their understanding of the origin of that ability is somewhat distorted. Additionally, words are the fastest way to form a soul tie between two individuals, knowingly or unknowingly. In relationships, this type of soul tie is strengthened by how often these same words are confessed. 49

9 Breaking Soul Ties For example, if you are in a relationship and you tell him or her these words, I will love you forever, I will always love you or you are my everything. These words are binding and if you end up breaking up with this person, yet you said you will love them forever this unfortunately leaves you indebted to your words. Certainly, your words have power to bind you together by that confession of I will always love you. You unknowingly sentenced your heart to tie with theirs through that confession. As a result, this will require an intervention, since you are now no longer in a position to love them forever. Indeed, the words you spoke may be the reason why it is difficult for you to get over some people. The words you committed to them may still be binding your heart to theirs even today. This is the risk that comes with making such confessions. 50

10 Dephne Madyara Subsequently, you might not have done anything sexual with them but you still find that you can t get over them? You are still constantly thinking of him or her? It could be those binding words you spoke almost every day in your relationship. Perhaps you are divorced or were about to get married and confessed some of these words without knowing the outcome you have today? Do not fret, there is hope to be completely delivered through Jesus Christ! Therefore, today think about what you have been confessing over your life, over your friendships and relationships. Are those words still binding you today? You find that you can t get over an ex, yet you never engaged in any sexual activities with them? Are your unsolicited vows and confessions still tying your heart and soul to someone today? 51

11 Breaking Soul Ties On the other hand, perhaps you ve spoken things about your career or the city you live in and as a result your mind, passions, emotions and appetites are now tied to these things such that it s causing you not to progress further? Maybe you said you never want to leave the city you live in? Maybe you constantly said your job is the greatest career you ll ever have and you can t see yourself leaving that company? Maybe you always said you don t see yourself owning a house or buying property? This is dangerous and the enemy can use such confessions to automatically limit you to that city, career or tenant status for the rest of your life, until you change your confession! Dear reader, it s never too late to untangle yourself from a binding caused by the wrong confessions, wrong testimony and wrong declarations. 52

12 Dephne Madyara You still have the ability to change your life by the words you begin to speak today. As you now know, your words have power to create. Although you can t undo the words that you spoke upon your life yesterday, you can however, start declaring forth new words that create life, fruitfulness, progress and glory into your life today. As an illustration, the following passage of scripture says: In the name of King Ahasuerus it was written, and sealed with the king s signet ring. And the letters were sent by couriers into all the king s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their possessions. - Esther 3:12-13 (NKJV) 53

13 Breaking Soul Ties Shortly after this, Esther became queen and spoke to the king to spare the lives of her people the Jews. Their deliverance is shown in this following account: By these letters the king permitted the Jews who were in every city to gather together and protect their lives to destroy, kill, and annihilate all the forces of any people or province that would assault them, both little children and women, and to plunder their possessions - Esther 8:11 (NKJV) The background of this account is that a man named Haman who was under service to the king plotted to kill the Jews. Through deception he got the king's consent to go ahead with his ploy. 54

14 Dephne Madyara So then, a decree went out from the king in the form of letters to annihilate, kill and destroy all the Jews. Hence why God strategically placed Esther as queen, that deliverance from the Jews may come through her. The second quoted verse demonstrates a revoke of the first decree to kill the Jews, hence, apprehending it. Although the king s words were written and sent out in the form of letters, yours are spoken and sent out through your mouth. Moreover, though the king had authority through kingship, you on the other hand, besides being made in the image and likeness of God, have authority through Jesus Christ and kingship on earth through being a heir in Christ. As written: To Him who loved us and washed from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen - Revelations 1:5-6 (NKJV) 55

15 Breaking Soul Ties Likewise, like King Ahasuerus, your words are decrees, when they go forth they start creating. Hence, in order for you to undo the destructive words you have spoken, you will need to speak forth life giving words that are able to revoke those destructive words. Assuredly, your life will change when you change your confession. Your life tomorrow will change when you change your today's declaration. However, the most successful recreational changes occur when spoken from a heart that is filled with faith, not from a mind filled with doubt and uncertainty. Fill your heart and mind with the Word of God until it becomes your confidence. Such that if the enemy brings people or situations that are negative, you will not crumble in the dark corners of doubt and fear, so as to begin speaking negative words again. 56

16 Dephne Madyara When the Word of God is truly your confidence, you will be able to stand up for yourself emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually because your confidence is in the Word of God. Therefore, let s pray. Prayer Dear Father, I thank You for opening my eyes to see areas of my life that need to be developed through Your Word. I ask for forgiveness for not using the fruit of my lips in a way that is good and that glorifies You in my life and the lives of those around me. I ask that by Your Spirit You muzzle my tongue, to keep me from speaking forth curses. That I may speak words of life and not of death. Lord Jesus, as I study Your Word, help me by Your Spirit to speak Your Words over my life and the lives of others! Help me to bless and not to curse. To empower and not to downgrade. I submit my words to You, that You may take full control as my 57
