Israel Bonds Congregation Ohav Emeth is again participating in the Israel Bond purchase program. If you wish to participate, you may still do so. There are blank pledge cards on the announcement stand in the lobby. Just fill in your name, fold down the appropriate tabs, and leave the card in the Israel Bond card receptacle at Steve Stein s seat in the Main Shul (row E center) or in the Shul office. You will be contacted by the Israel Bond office to set up the purchase. Please consider the following: Proceeds from Israel Bonds support many development projects in Israel, a number of them in various technological fields. Congregation Ohav Emeth prides itself on being a Zionist shul. For example, at this year s Shul Breakfast we honored the dozens of families and individuals who have made Aliyah. But our participation in Israel Bonds lags behind that of other shuls in the community. There are many denominations available ranging from as little as $36, and many maturity periods, range from 2 to 10 years. Rates are competitive and Israel has NEVER defaulted on payment of principal or interest. Israel Bonds are an investment, not a donation, so they don t cost you a penny. They may also be given as gifts. Many individuals may purchase Israel Bonds from within retirement accounts such as IRAs. Unveiling for Sister of Mrs. Niederman The unveiling for Devorah Herskovitch, a h, sister of Mrs. Rose Niderman, will take place this Sunday, October 22nd, at Deans Cemetery at 11 AM. An Appeal from an OE Member Family: Update Thank you to all who have contributed to raise funds for a community member to attend a rehab program. This person has completed the first and most expensive part of the program, and is, thank G-d, doing well. Even with the generous donations shared by community members, the family was forced to borrow thousands of dollars each month to pay $6,000 monthly for the program. They are struggling with significant accumulated debt, and our help is still needed. Please help this local family recover from extreme financial burden. They have generously supported our community in the past and never though they would need to ask for themselves. Please visit cause/please-help-us-afford-rehab-tosave-our-son to donate by credit card or if you wish to make out a check instead of contributing online, please make it out to Congregation Ohav Emeth and in the memo write Rabbi s Charity Fund. I was able to see how impactful KOC is for the campers and how much love there is between campers and staff.
