Integrity follows honors as honesty precedes truth. Princess Alkeeta of Israel This letter is from John, the elder. I am writing to the chosen lady and to her children, whom I love in the truth as does everyone else who knows the truth because the truth lives in us and will be with us forever. Grace, mercy, and peace, which come from God the Father and from Jesus Christ the Son of the Father will continue to be with us who live in truth and love. 2 john 1:1-3 WE Study Guide 1.2 2

Introduction: Purpose of Empowerment Position. Title. Subordinate or superior. The proper place for women has always caused a large debate in many countries and communities around the world, whether religious or secular. The orthodox question, Were women created to be only child bearers and nothing more beyond the ordinary?, seems to be a perplexing quest to find purpose of womankind. There is no doubt that women and men were created and genetically designed for specific tasks; however, many of those tasks were to counterbalance the responsibilities of their partnership as they worked together. Still today the gender roles of women and men are becoming blended as women have enjoyed the liberations of new responsibilities and continue to pioneer their freedom outside of the household. An aircraft pilot, opera singer, mother, treasury of security and computer engineer can have one something in common. All of these positions can be held by skilled and talented women. While in generations past it seemed almost obscured that women should work outside of the home for the fear of women dominating the male workforce, this is no longer the debate of some communities and nations. Many communities are grasping the impact of empowering women to propel to new heights in the enlightenment of the overwhelming success if brings to everyone. When women feel comfortable enjoying success and achievements, men can feel even more complete in their own accomplishments and triumphs. In the Book of Proverbs, Solomon writes of the beauty, character and strengths of the empowered woman. This woman has been an example for both men and women alike for many generations. The woman who can balance the life of being a successful helpmate of her husband, family, community and nation. The iconic Proverbs 31 woman is one who can raise her children in the ways of God, brings in an income, farms and shears her sheep to provide thread, then she uses the thread to wove clothing for her household, in addition, she is a businesswoman who uses her earned resources to purchase land that she deemed profitable. Lets not forget how she helped the poor and orphans in her community and the wisdom of advice that she gave those under her authority. Wow! What an amazing woman; nonetheless, what truly elevated the praise of this woman was not the work she performed in her home or in her community. This powerful woman sought to live a life that honored God; her God, the God of Israel. Now, in the context of the Holy Bible being a Jewish history book among other attributes, the Proverbs 31 woman is Jewish. The Book of Proverbs highlights the accomplishments of one woman and the appreciative community who adored her attributes. While ancient Israel is thought of as being a male dominated society, men did value women and respected their female partners a great deal. There are countless women in the Holy Bible that have exemplified the message of female empowerment through shared responsibilities to assist their family, community and nation. Furthermore, there are many women in our own generation who continue to vocalize their strengths, virtues and talents in an effort to build up others. While many women in some countries are not permitted the opportunity to share in the liberties of their talents, many women continue to grow stronger as they learn how powerful their helping others can be. Nonetheless, no other woman can shine so brightly as the empowered woman of faith in Jesus Christ. WE Study Guide 1.2 5
Biblical Insight: The Living Empowerment I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a deacon in the church in Cenchrea. 2 Welcome her in the Lord as one who is worthy of honor among God s people. Help her in whatever she needs, for she has been helpful to many, and especially to me. 3 Give my greetings to Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in the ministry of Christ Jesus. 4 In fact, they once risked their lives for me. I am thankful to them, and so are all the Gentile churches. 5 Also give my greetings to the church that meets in their home. Greet my dear friend Epenetus. He was the first person from the province of Asia to become a follower of Christ. 6 Give my greetings to Mary, who has worked so hard for your benefit. 7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews, who were in prison with me. They are highly respected among the apostles and became followers of Christ before I did. 8 Greet Ampliatus, my dear friend in the Lord. 9 Greet Urbanus, our co-worker in Christ, and my dear friend Stachys. 10 Greet Apelles, a good man whom Christ approves. And give my greetings to the believers from the household of Aristobulus. 11 Greet Herodion, my fellow Jew. Greet the Lord s people from the household of Narcissus. 12 Give my greetings to Tryphena and Tryphosa, the Lord s workers, and to dear Persis, who has worked so hard for the Lord. 13 Greet Rufus, whom the Lord picked out to be his very own; and also his dear mother, who has been a mother to me. 14 Give my greetings to Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the brothers and sisters[d] who meet with them. 15 Give my greetings to Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his sister, and to Olympas and all the believers who meet with them. 16 Greet each other with a sacred kiss. All the churches of Christ send you their greetings. Romans 16:1-16 WE Study Guide 1.2 6

Presentation Outline Jordan Metoyer, US Government Official Bette Nesmith Graham, Inventor Harriot Tubman, Revolutionist Frida Kahlo, Painter Isabel Allende, Writer Anjum Anand, Chef Rania Al Yassin, Queen of Jordan Michelle Kwan, Olympic Champion Henrietta Bell Wells, Victor Debater Alkeeta Israel, Princess of Israel WE Study Guide 1.2 8
Closing Reflection When we dream and grant ourselves the ability of living the life that we see in our minds, liberated from explanation, just believing in our own desires we begin to accomplish so much more. Princess Alkeeta of Israel Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. As he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, non one can ever boast in the presence of God. 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 WE Study Guide 1.2 9
