Amos Part 24 The God of Dan and Way of Beersheba Key Verses: Amos 8:12 8:14 We spoke last time about the famine of the Word and the period of darkness we must endure (Mat 4:4. 1Co 3:21) in being drowned by the lusts of our flesh (the River of Egypt) before the Lord comes with vengeance to save us from our sins. We have to come to our wits end by being overcome by our beast (Rev 11:7). It is only from that place of total humility that the Lord rises up within us and delivers us from the belly of the beast. Jon 2:1 Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, Jon 2:2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. This time of trouble and great tribulation in our heavens is the sign we know the Lord is working righteousness in us. Here in lies our patience in waiting on Him to come within. Mat 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. I will read the last four verses of chapter 8 to regather the context of what is happening in the Kingdom of God and conclude the vision of judgment regarding the summer fruits (Amo 8:2). Amo 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: Amo 8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. Amo 8:13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst. Amo 8:14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again. In our immaturity, we are still wandering from one carnal thought to the next (sea to sea) and going back to the elementary principles of the Lord we first learned. This is what wandering from the north (direction of judgment) to the east refers to. Yet our ability to digest the strong meat of the Word that brings eternal life (Joh 6:53) and move on to maturity and the revealing of Jesus Christ within us, is not found in the east. It is only found when we are given to trust the Lord and follow the Son westward. Mat 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Isa 43:5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; 1 P a g e

We learn good and evil by moving on westward in the spiritual land within us, enduring the affliction of judgment that is sanctifying us. Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. The sun moves from east to west and so do we in the spirit if we follow Jesus Christ. Mar 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. When we return to the east and don t follow the Lord west, we will not find what we seek. Rev 9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. Pro 1:24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; Pro 1:25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: Pro 1:26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; Pro 1:27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Pro 1:28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: It is the new man who is learning patience and trust in the Lord. It is the new man who is enduring through the famine as the old man is being set up for destruction. Amo 8:13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst. The fair or beautiful virgins are God s Elect who the Lord remembers their sins no more. Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. Rom 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. The young men [H970] are the chosen ones who are being taught to lean not on their own understanding but trust only in the Lord. 3 choice, 3 Psa 78:31 The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen [H970] men of Israel. Psa 78:32 For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works. Psa 78:33 Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble. Our Lord spake a parable unto us about the day of judgment. Luk 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; When the Lord finally comes, will there be faith on our earth? We need to wait and trust in the Lord to deliver His promises. We learn this by enduring through these experiences of evil, waiting on the judge. Luk 18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? Luk 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? The wrath of God is being revealed against all of our ungodliness in the day of the Lord (Rom 1:18). We as the first to be judged are the fools that profess to be wise but are still trusting in the idols of Samaria and worship the creature (the beast) and not the Lord. Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. When judgment is on our house (1Pe 4:17) then we live through this being overwhelmed by the river of Egypt (Amo 8:8) and be turned over to the lusts of our flesh for a season that is as long as needed to humble us and teach us the fear of the Lord. Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in (their) knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: This is not those evil homosexual people over there. These are words of fire spoken foremost against us, the Elect of God upon whom judgment has fallen. We are the man of sin (2Sa 12:7), trusting in ourselves and our own understanding and thereby committing homosexuality and spiritual fornication with other gods. 3 P a g e

Rom 2:1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. We are these fair virgins and young men (immature in Christ) that are not yet given to overcome. We come thru the fire that is, was and will be coming unto the land that is the kingdom of God within (Luk 17:20-21). 2Co 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. Rev 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. Our last verse is pivotal in that it speaks of the deep mysteries of salvation that so precious few are given to understand in this age (1Co 2:7, Mat 13:10). Amo 8:14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again. This is Sin of Samaria is the not being separated from the world and being unfaithful to our husband Jesus Christ by worshipping other gods. This is the transgression of Jacob as we know the truth but walk according to the gods of this world and worship (bow) to the image (thoughts and beliefs) of our beast. Mic 1:5 For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem? These gods are no gods are at all but the idols of our hearts and the image of our beasts we set up thinking the narrow way is all about knowledge and not in the doing. Gal 4:8 But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods Jer 23:13 And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err. Jer 7:8 Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit. Jer 7:9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; As the king, it is us, living out this idolatry (1Co 10:11) and swearing by the gods of this world is our continuing in the sin of Jeroboam #1 that all succeeding kings continued in. 4 P a g e

2Ki 13:6 Nevertheless they did not depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who had made Israel sin, but walked in them; and the wooden image also remained in Samaria. John and all of the Elect see this beast and our worshipping its image as we look behind us in our day of judgment. Rev 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. Rev 13:12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. The Corinthian fornicator is you and me at this stage before the Lord casts us out into outer darkness during the famine of hearing the words which is used to destroy the flesh (1Co 5:5). 1Co 5:1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. Being of our father the devil, we are committing spiritual fornication (Joh 6:63) with our father s wife. Having the truth and knowing the Lord is the one who works all things including righteousness within us, we are commanded to come out of her (Rev 18:4) and no longer commit this spiritual fornication and be partaker of her evil deeds. Joh 8:41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. Keeping ourselves pure and undefiled is the primary focus of those that walk by faith. Act 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. 1Co 10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. We are to separate from the world including the religious world that is of the harlot and committing fornication and following the gods of Samaria. Mat 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: Death to the old man is coming by destruction of our flesh and carnal way of thinking. Our trusting in our own righteousness to save us and period of keeping covenant with the flesh, keeping it alive, is coming to an end in this day as we are living every word of God. The god of Dan and the way of life of Beersheba are being cut (spiritually circumcised) out of our lives by the hands of God (Col 2:11). Dan in the north and Beersheba in the south define the boundaries of the yet carnal nation of physical Israel that is an example and shadow of words we are living out in this age. 5 P a g e

The God of Dan Rises Not Again Dan is the Hebrew word H1835 and it means to judge or to rule. The tribe of Dan represent part of our maturing process and one of the foundational experiences we must live out in coming to the fullness of Christ being a mature man. Dan was unable conquer much of its inheritance, due to their spiritual immaturity. Jdg 18:1 In those days there was no king in Israel: and in those days the tribe of the Danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in; for unto that day all their inheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of Israel. Impatient and discontent, the Danites, sought to make a name for themselves and trusted in the work of their own hands. They found a city Laish that had idols and false prophets and they made that their home and put their name on it in disobedience to the commandments. Jdg 18:29 And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel: howbeit the name of the city was Laish at the first. Jdg 18:30 And the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land. We don t have time or space to repeat the great study Larry did in the Genesis series on Dan. Here is a link to that study: Foundational Themes in Genesis #110. The god of Dan was the god of themselves and worshipping the image of the beast. It was in the city of Dan where Jeroboam put one of the two golden calves for the purpose of worship. This is an OT version of Revelation 13 and our being deceived in our spiritual adultery and fornication. Here we wander in spiritual darkness not hearing the commands and yet thinking we are serving the Lord in our idolatry. 1Ki 12:28 Whereupon the king (you and me) took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 1Ki 12:29 And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan. 1Ki 12:30 And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan. 1Ki 12:31 And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi. The Lord uses Dan within us to bring judgment to the land and teach us the patience of the saints. Gen 49:16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel. Gen 49:17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward. Gen 49:18 I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD. 6 P a g e

As Danites we are obsessed with ourselves and trust in our own strength. Even Samson was a Danite and like us, sees no reason to separate from the Philistines and instead intermarry (Jdg 14:3-4) with harlots. Yet this self-righteous spirit and period in all of our maturation are being destroyed along with the image and the beast itself. The god of Dan that is living within us is the harlotry and idolatry that we will be brought out of in our day of the Lord. Rev 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. The other specified item that is being destroyed and will not raise up again is what is called the way of Beersheba. The manner or way of Beersheba The word Beersheba [H884] means well of seven or seven wells. The way of Beersheba is speaking about knowing Christ in the flesh and making a covenant with the flesh (the Philistines) to keep the old man alive and live in peace. This is the false peace that will be shattered when the Lord is revealed from heaven and brings the fire. Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; It is the Elect who know and hold the truth but first hold it in unrighteousness (hearing not doing). Beersheba is where Abraham made a covenant with Abimelech, the king of the Philistines (think our flesh) and sojourned many days at peace (Gen 21:31-34). That is a shadow of the peace of Christ we find in the Body of Christ (The Israel of God) while we live out our lives in clay vessels. Gen 21:32 Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines. Gen 21:33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God. Gen 21:34 And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines' land many days. Beersheba is also the place where Hagar miraculously sees a well of water that allows her and Ishmael to live (Gen 21:14-19). We live through the first covenant and be in bondage, knowing Christ only in the flesh before we come to know Him in Spirit. Gal 4:24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. Gal 4:25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. This Mount Sinai in our Arabia is us when we sit on the Lord s throne being puffed up with pride and deluded to think we are already a mature man (having arrived). We don t know we are in darkness (Mat 6:23) and dwell in a dry and parched land (Famine) without the Spirit 7 P a g e

leading us. The spiritual harlot which is Jerusalem which is now is driven to use the word to expand her borders and seek ungodly mammon and the things the flush lusts after. Eze 16:15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was. Eze 16:16 And of thy garments thou didst take, and deckedst thy high places with divers colours, and playedst the harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so. The trusting in ourselves and the strength of our flesh and our own carnal understanding will be cut off and shall never rise up again. It is those that are being circumcised that will have no confidence in the flesh and are well past the delusion of free will that keeps the whole world in bondage and darkness. Php 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Next week Lord willing, we will begin the last of the visions and the last chapter of Amos that is teaching us about the judgment process that is saving us from our sins. Amo 9:1 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered. Amo 9:2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down: Amo 9:3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them: 8 P a g e
