Galatians 3:8 Introduction The lessons for the next four weeks introduce the children to the God who is always faithful. Week 1 covers the Flood in Genesis 6:1-9:17, giving the children one complete story that shows how God is always faithful to keep his word, when he rescues and when he judges. Weeks 2-4 provide three parts to the one story of God s promise and faithfulness to bram (or braham). Week 2 covers Genesis 12:1-3, where God makes a promise to braham. Week 3 covers Genesis 15:1-21 (esp. verses 1-6), where God repeats his promise to braham, which leads to faith (or trust) in God to be faithful to his promise-word. Week 4 covers Genesis 21:1-7, showing by the birth of Isaac that God is faithful to keep his promise-word. Read the Scriptures prayerfully, and consider how you might communicate these big truths to young hearts. Welcome Greet students with a brief summary of the lesson or a truth statement, such as Good morning bby, today we re going to talk about how God is faithful. God always does what he says he will do! Consider giving the child a sticker related to the lesson, such as a rainbow for Week 1 or a star for Week 3. Transition ctivities Week 1 - Froot Loop Rainbow. String fruit loops onto a pipe cleaner and bend into a rainbow shape. Place the rainbow inside a Ziploc bag with God Is lways Faithful written on the bag. Remind the children that the rainbow represents God s faithfulness to his word. Week 2 - World Map. Spread out a cheap world map on a table with some precut pictures of people of different ethnicities. Have children glue the pictures onto the map. Discuss how big God s promise is to bless all nations. Week 3 - Star Poster. Get a black sheet of construction paper. Using various kinds of star stickers, white crayon, and glitter, fill up that black paper with stars and speak to the children about trusting God s big promises. Week 4 - Cloth & Baby Picture. Copy a picture of a baby for each child onto white paper. Bring cuts of scrap cloth to class and have the children glue them on the baby Isaac. Speak to them about God s faithfulness to his promise-word.

2 The God Who Is lways Faithful Page 8 Lesson Example for Week 1 (Before teaching, consider using pictures or figures of Noah and the rk. The Big Picture Story Bible is very helpful here. Be sure to focus on God s faithfulness to Noah and that God fulfilled His promise rather than on the animals.) You might begin as follows: Today I m thankful that God is always faithful. That means He always does what He says He will do. God always tells the truth. When God says something, we can know it is true. By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. Hebrews 11:7 The Bible tells us about a man named Noah. Noah was God s friend and God told Noah about some things He was about to do. God said that He was angry about people s sin and that He would send a big flood to kill all the people who didn t love God. There would be so much water that even the mountains would be covered. Do you think God was telling the truth about the flood? Yes, he was! God also said that He would save Noah from the water. Noah and his family would be safe in the boat God told Noah to build. Did God really do that? Did He really protect Noah and Noah s family when everyone else died? Yes! God was faithful! He told the truth! He did exactly what He said He would do. Water covered all the land and the Bible says in Genesis 7:23, (point to place in Bible) Only Noah was left, and those who were with him on the ark. Then God dried up the water so Noah could leave the boat. He told Noah He would never send such a big flood again. God did what He told Noah He would do. Will He always do what He says? Yes, every single time! Even when it seems too hard, He will do it. Nothing is too hard for Him. He always remembers and will always do what He says. Sometimes we forget that God tells the truth. Sometimes God has to remind us that He does what He says He will do. One way God does that is by sending a rainbow. God puts rainbows in the sky to show us that He remembers what He told Noah, even when we forget. When we see a rainbow we can remember that God is always faithful. He does what He says He will do. Let me show you in the Bible where it talks about God s faithfulness. (Open Bible and point to verse.) Our verse for the week, Hebrews 10:23b says, He who promised is faithful. Let s say it together. (Repeat a few times). That verse is talking about God. What is God faithful to do? (Everything He says He will do!) Let s pray together and thank God for always telling the truth and keeping all of His promises! There is no one faithful like God and we should trust in him alone. Only his words and promises are true. Like Noah and like braham, we should trust in God to keep his word. Let s learn more about our God who is always faithful. uestions & Truth Statements Who is always faithful and never lies? God, he is always faithful and never lies. He is truthful. Memory Verse Take time during Part 3 to continue memorizing Psalm 1, their memory verse for the Fall (Psalm 23 for the Spring). Repetition is very important at this age. You may even have some of the children try to say it on their own, and then lend help when needed.. What does it mean for God to be faithful? God always does what he promises. He is always true to his word and his good plans. How do we know that God is faithful? God tells us he is faithful in the Bible. We should believe everything God tells us about himself. re you always faithful? Do you always tell the truth? No. Does God always tell the truth? Yes, God always tells the truth. He always does what he says he is going to do. He always does what he promises. Did God do what he told Noah he would do? Yes, he punished the earth with a flood and saved Noah and his family on the ark. God kept his word. He is faithful. Did God do what he told braham he would do? Yes. braham had to wait a long time, but God was faithful to keep his promise-word. He gave him a son named Isaac. God is always faithful. Is God someone you can always trust? Yes, God is someone we can always trust because he is faithful forever. We can trust him in very happy times and in very sad times; easy times and hard times; in the day and at night. Do you forget things? Do you forget to tell mom and dad thank you sometimes? Do you forget to put away your toys? Yes. God is not like that. God never forgets. He always remembers his promises. God who promised is faithful!

God also makes promises, which he is always faithful to keep, just like when he promised braham a child. God s faithfulness calls us to trust his promise-word. Be ready to talk with your child about God s promises. Show him/her where they are in the Bible and remind your child that we can trust God because he is always faithful to his promise-word.
