GABRIEL: He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw ANGEL 3: The word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. ANGEL 4: Who is the faithful witness, ANGEL 5: The firstborn from the dead, ANGEL 6: And the ruler of the kings of the earth. MARTHA: To Jesus, who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, MARY: He has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father ALL: To him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. GABRIEL: Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, ANGEL 7: So shall it be! ALL: Amen. ANGEL 4: Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, ANGEL 5: And blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, ALL ANGELS: Because the time is near. JESUS: I am the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.

2 2 MARTHA: He is the First and the Last. JESUS: I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! MARTHA: He holds the keys of death and Hades. Scene 2 ANGEL 7: To any who have forsaken their first love JESUS: Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. ANGEL 7: He knows your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. JESUS: You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. ANGEL 7: Yet you have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! INSERT PARABLE of the LAZY SERVANT from Matthew 24 JESUS: Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? ANGEL 7: It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. JESUS: Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. ANGEL 7: But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, JOHN: My master is staying away a long time, ANGEL 7: Then he begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. JOHN: The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. JESUS: He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. ANGEL 7: Repent and do the things you did at first. JESUS: To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. ANGEL 6: Those who are undergoing suffering,

3 3 JESUS: Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. ANGEL 6: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. JESUS: I know your afflictions and your poverty yet you are rich! ANGEL 6: Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. JESUS: Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor s crown. ANGEL 6: The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death. ANGEL 5: To those who harken to false teachings JESUS: Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. ANGEL 5: He knows where you live where Satan has his throne. JESUS: Yet you remain true to my name. ANGEL 5: You did not renounce your faith in Jesus, not even in the days of Antipas, the faithful witness, who was put to death. JESUS: To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. ANGEL 5: he will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. ANGEL 4: To those who hold to the truth JESUS: Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. ANGEL 4: He knows know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance JESUS: I know that you are now doing more than you did at first. ANGEL 4: Jesus searches hearts and minds, and will repay each of you according to your deeds. JESUS: To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, ANGEL 4: He will give authority over the nations JESUS: Just as I have received authority from my Father. ANGEL 4: He will also give you the morning star.

4 4 ANGEL 3: To those who have a reputation of being alive, but are dead. JESUS: Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. ANGEL 3: Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die JESUS: I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. ANGEL 3: Jesus will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time he will come to you. (INSERT PARABLES of the THIEF, TEN VIRGINS, and WEDDING GUESTS. As these are narrated, other cast members can act them out. Taken from Matthew 22 & 25) JESUS: Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. ANGEL 7: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, ANGEL 6: He would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. JESUS: So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. JOHN: The kingdom of heaven is like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. MARY: Five of them were foolish MARTHA: And five were wise. MARY: The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. MARTHA: The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. JOHN: The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. GABRIEL: At midnight the cry rang out: JOHN: Here s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him! MICHAEL: Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, MARY: Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out. MARTHA: No, there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.

5 5 JOHN: But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. GABRIEL: The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. MICHAEL: The door was shut. GABRIEL: Later the others also came MARY: Lord, Lord, open the door for us! JESUS: Truly I tell you, I don t know you. MARTHA: Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. JESUS: The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. ANGEL 3: He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come. ANGEL 4: Then he sent some more servants JESUS: Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet. ANGEL 4: But they paid no attention and went off one to his field, another to his business. ANGEL 3: The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. ANGEL 4: The king was enraged. ANGEL 3: He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. JESUS: The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find ANGEL 4: So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, ANGEL 3: The bad as well as the good, ANGEL 4: The wedding hall was filled with guests. ANGEL 3: But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. JESUS: How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?

6 6 ANGEL 4: The man was speechless. JESUS: Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ANGEL 3: For many are invited, but few are chosen. JESUS: Those who have not soiled their clothes will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. ANGEL 3: He will never blot out the names of those persons from the book of life JESUS: I will acknowledge those names before my Father and his angels. GABRIEL: To those who have little strength, yet have kept His word and have not denied the name of Jesus. JESUS: Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. GABRIEL: If anyone hears his voice and opens the door, JESUS: I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. GABRIEL: He is coming soon. JESUS: Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. GABRIEL: He will make the one who is victorious a pillar in the temple of God. Never again will they leave it. JESUS: I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the New Jerusalem, and my new name. MICHAEL: To those who are lukewarm JESUS: Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. MICHAEL: He knows your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. JESUS: I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are neither hot nor cold I am about to spit you out of my mouth. MICHAEL: Those he loves, he rebukes and disciplines. So be earnest and repent

7 7 JESUS: To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, MICHAEL: Just as He was and is victorious and sat down with His Father on His throne. Scene 3 MICHAEL: The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation GABRIEL: For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, ANGEL 3: Whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; MARTHA: All things have been created through him and for him. ANGEL 4: He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. MARY: He is the head of the body, the church; ANGEL 5: He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. ANGEL 6: For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, MARY: And through him to reconcile to himself all things, ANGEL 7: Whether things on earth or things in heaven, MARTHA: By making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. MARTHA: You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, MICHAEL: For you created all things and by your will they were created and have their being. MARY: You are worthy because you were slain, MARTHA: With your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. MARY: Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, ANGEL 7: To receive power ANGEL 6: And wealth ANGEL 5: And wisdom

8 8 ANGEL 4: And strength ANGEL 3: And honor MICHAEL: And glory GABRIEL: And praise! Scene 4 MICHAEL: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. GABRIEL: Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil s schemes. JOHN: I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals and there before me was a white horse! MICHAEL: Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest. JOHN: Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. GABRIEL: Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. MARY: For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, MARTHA: But against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world ANGEL 3: And against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. JOHN: I looked, and there before me was a black horse! ANGEL 4: Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. MARY: Two pounds of wheat for a day s wages and six pounds of barley for a day s wages MARTHA: Do not damage the oil and the wine! JOHN: I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! ANGEL 5: Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. ANGEL 6: Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, ANGEL 7: Nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. MARY: We will all be changed

9 9 MARTHA: In a flash, JOHN: In the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. ANGEL 5: Death will be swallowed up in victory. MARY: Where, O death, is your victory? MARTHA: Where, O death, is your sting? JOHN: Praise be to God that Jesus became our high priest on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. ANGEL 6: Therefore put on the full armor of God, ANGEL 7: So that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, MARY, MARTHA, JOHN: (in unison) And after you have done everything, to stand. Scene 5 JOHN: When he opened the fifth seal, I saw the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. VOICE: How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood? ANGEL 5: If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, MARTHA: Will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? MARY: If he finds it, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. ANGEL 4: In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish. ANGEL 5: The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. ANGEL 6: Instead he is patient with you, ALL: Not wanting anyone to perish, ANGEL 7: But everyone to come to repentance. MICHAEL: But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.

10 10 GABRIEL: The heavens will disappear with a roar; ANGEL 3: The elements will be destroyed by fire, ANGEL 4: The earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Scene 6 JOHN: I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. ALL: Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb. ALL ANGELS: Amen! GABRIEL: Praise MICHAEL: and glory ANGEL 5: and wisdom ANGEL 6: and thanks ANGEL 3: and honor ANGEL 7: and power ANGEL 4: and strength ALL: Be to our God for ever and ever. Amen! JOHN: I saw those who had washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ANGEL 7: He who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. ANGEL 6: Never again will they hunger; ANGEL 5: Never again will they thirst. ANGEL 4: The sun will not beat down on them, or any scorching heat. ANGEL 3: For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; GABRIEL: He will lead them to springs of living water. MICHAEL: God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

11 11 Scene 7 JOHN: When he opened the seventh seal I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. GABRIEL: We blew our trumpets and warned mankind MICHAEL: Yet they still did not repent. ANGEL 3: They did not stop worshiping demons ANGEL 4: And idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood ANGEL 5: Idols that cannot see or hear or walk. ANGEL 6: Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, ANGEL 7: Their sexual immorality or their thefts. GABRIEL: John, you must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings. MICHAEL: God has appointed two witnesses, and they will prophesy as well. JESUS: All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. GABRIEL: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, MICHAEL: Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, GABRIEL: Teaching them to obey everything He has commanded you. JESUS: Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Scene 8 ANGEL 7: The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever. ANGEL 6: We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, ANGEL 5: The One who is and who was, ANGEL 4: Because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign. ANGEL 3: The time has come for judging the dead, MICHAEL: And for rewarding your servants the prophets

12 12 GABRIEL: And your people who revere your name, both great and small. ANGEL 3: When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, ANGEL 4: He will sit on his glorious throne. ANGEL 5: All the nations will be gathered before him, ANGEL 6: He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. ANGEL 7: He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. ANGEL 6: Then the King will say to those on his right, JESUS: Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. MARTHA: Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, MARY: Or thirsty and give you something to drink? MARTHA: When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, MARY: Or needing clothes and clothe you? MARTHA: When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? JESUS: Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. JOHN: Then he will say to those on his left, JESUS: Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me. JOHN: They also will answer, MARTHA: Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you? JESUS: Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.

13 13 ANGEL 7: Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. Scene 9 MICHAEL: Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, GABRIEL: And the authority of his Messiah. ANGEL 3: Your servants did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. ANGEL 4: Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! ANGEL 5: This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God s people. JOHN: I looked, and there before me was the Lamb. ANGEL 6: Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. ANGEL 7: Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water. MICHAEL: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. GABRIEL: They will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them. ANGEL 3: Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, ANGEL 4: For the harvest of the earth is ripe. JESUS: The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. JOHN: The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. MARTHA: But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. MARY: When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. JOHN: The owner s servants came to him. MARTHA: Sir, didn t you sow good seed in your field? MARY: Where then did the weeds come from? JESUS: An enemy did this. MARTHA: Do you want us to go and pull them up?

14 14 JESUS: No, because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn. Scene 10 ANGEL 5: Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. ANGEL 6: Just and true are your ways, King of the nations. ANGEL 7: Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? ALL: For you alone are holy. ANGEL 7: All nations will come and worship before you, ALL: For your righteous acts have been revealed. MICHAEL: You are just in these judgments, O Holy One, GABRIEL: You who are and who were; ALL: Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments ANGEL 7: The unrighteous will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them ANGEL 6: Because he is Lord of lords and King of king MARY: And with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers. ANGEL 5: Rejoice you heavens! ANGEL 4: Rejoice, you people of God! ALL: Hallelujah! ANGEL 3: Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, GABRIEL: For true and just are his judgments. JOHN: For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. ANGEL 6: He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard. JOHN: About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. JESUS: You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right

15 15 JOHN: So they went. ANGEL 6: He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. JOHN: About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. JESUS: Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing? MARY: Because no one has hired us. JESUS: You also go and work in my vineyard. ANGEL 6: When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman JESUS: Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first. ANGEL 6: The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. JOHN: So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. ANGEL 6: But each one of them also received a denarius. MARY: (grumbling) These who were hired last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day. JESUS: I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn t you agree to work for a denarius? Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. Don t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous? ANGEL 6: So the last will be first, and the first will be last. ALL: Hallelujah! MARTHA: Praise our God, all you his servants, MARY: You who fear him, both great and small! ALL: Hallelujah! MARTHA: For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Scene 11 MARY: Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! MARTHA: For the wedding of the Lamb has come,

16 16 MARY: And his bride has made herself ready. MARTHA: Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear. MARY: Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God s holy people. GABRIEL: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb! JOHN: I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. MICHAEL: With justice he judges and wages war. ANGEL 3: His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. ANGEL 4: He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. ANGEL 5: He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, ALL: And his name is the Word of God. JOHN: The armies of heaven were following him. ANGEL 6: Come; gather together for the great supper of God. JOHN: Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God. JESUS: A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests MARTHA: At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, JOHN: Come, for everything is now ready. MARTHA: But they all alike began to make excuses. MARY: I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me. MARTHA: I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me. MARY: I just got married, so I can t come. JOHN: The servant came back and reported this to his master. JESUS: (angry) Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame. JOHN: Sir, what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.

17 17 JESUS: Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. Scene 12 JOHN: I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. MARTHA: Another book was opened, which is the book of life. MARY: The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. JOHN: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. ANGEL 7: Look! God s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. ANGEL 6: They will be his people, ANGEL 7: God himself will be with them and be their God ANGEL 5: He will wipe every tear from their eyes. ANGEL 4: There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain ANGEL 3: For the old order of things has passed away. JESUS: I am making everything new! MARTHA: He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. JESUS: To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. GABRIEL: Those who are victorious will inherit all this JESUS: I will be their God and they will be my children MICHAEL: Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb. JOHN: I saw the Holy City coming down out of heaven from God. MICHAEL: The twelve gates are twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. GABRIEL: The great street of the city is of gold, as pure as transparent glass. JOHN: I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

18 18 ANGEL 3: The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, ANGEL 4: The Lamb is its lamp. ANGEL 5: The nations will walk by its light, ANGEL 4: The kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. ANGEL 5: On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. JOHN: Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. ANGEL 6: On each side of the river stands the tree of life. ANGEL 7: The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. ANGEL 6: No longer will there be any curse. ANGEL 7: The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. ANGEL 5: They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. ANGEL 4: There will be no more night. ANGEL 5: They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. ANGEL 4: And they will reign for ever and ever. ANGEL 3: The Lord, the God who inspires the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place. JESUS: Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. GABRIEL: He is the Alpha and the Omega, MICHAEL: The First and the Last, GABRIEL: The Beginning and the End. ANGEL 3: Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. JESUS: I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches.

19 19 ANGEL 4: He is the Root and the Offspring of David, ANGEL 5: The bright Morning Star. ANGEL 6: Come!
