1 Date: 02 & 03 Jan, 09 & 10 Jan and 16 & 17 Jan 2016 Story Theme: Introduction to David Club Scripture Text: Christ is the head of the church. Ephesians 5:23a Teaching Focus: Together we learn about Jesus in the Church Duration: 3 Weeks Bible Truth Time Teaching Objective: Children will know that once a week, together with their parents they are to come to Church so that they can learn about Jesus through the biblical story, the craft time, the worship time and the offering time in David Club. They are encouraged to come to Church with a happy face! Attending David Club should be a happy experience for the children and we want them to look forward to coming to Church every Sunday. Leaders do have fun in all the 4 station activities remember that you are impacting and sowing seeds every weekend and in time to come, we will reap a harvest! Platform Teaching: Introduce Rules Setting of rules for all age group is very important because it gives the children boundaries and the expectation of how they are to behave has been spelt out. In order to achieve good classroom management, rules must be reinforced and repeated regularly until everyone, including the adults that are present as well, knows and understands what and reason why is required of them. Leader to say to children: Children, when we are in David Club every Saturday/Sunday, there are some rules that we need to follow. Rules are good for us because when we know these rules we will know what to do and how to behave in David Club. Rules also keep me safe and keep me from harm. Let s all say this: Rules are good for me! I want to obey the rules! Yeah! Great! Let s start by learning what the rules are. David Club leaders to act out the below rule one at a time. Please demonstrate how you want the rule to be followed. Do queue up, hands on friend s shoulder, no pushing of one another Do not shout or scream but speak in a gentle tone Say please when you ask or thank you when you receive something Ask permission from leader before doing anything or going anywhere Greet aunties, uncles and friends Cross your legs when seated Obey your leaders Pack up when told to Share toys, colored pencils or sticky tapes

2 Memory Verse Time: Christ is the head of the church. Ephesians 5:23a (NIV) Get the children in your group to repeat the below memory verse with you. Start reciting it slowly first then increasing the speed as you repeat the verses a few times. This will add variety and the children will find reciting memory verse fun. Christ Is the head Of the Church Ephesians 5:23 (to put both pointer finger together and make a cross) (point to the head) (put hands together to form a house) (open both palms to show a Bible) Bible Story Time There are altogether 4 station activities and they are: Station Activity 1 Bible Story (5 mins) Station Activity 2 Worship (5 mins) Station Activity 3 Prayer (5 mins) Station Activity 4 Craft (5 mins) Transition Song Sing this song when send the children to each station. Repeat it when they move from station to station. Add in action to make it fun (pretend to be driving, rowing, cycling) This is the way we go to church, go to church, go to church. This is the way we go to church every Saturday evening/sunday morning. Every Station Activity (1 time only) This segment is to be done at the beginning of every station. The last 3 fingers close and facing one another. Turning the hands and fingers, facing you. 3 Leader to say: Every Saturday / Sunday, we are to come to church with Daddy and Mummy happily and joyfully. Our church is named Faith Community Baptist Church or FCBC for short. Your daddy and mummy will go to adult church and you come to children church. Our children church is called David Club. Your daddy and mummy listen to Pastors preaching in the adult Church. In David Club, GKidz leaders will teach you the Word of God. Station Activity 1 Bible Stories (5 mins) Props needed: Placards of the following Bible stories: Fruit of the Spirit David and Goliath Psalm 23 Creation Introduction song for this station (seated quietly with folded hands and sing softly) This is the way we sit so still, sit so still, sit so still. This is the way we sit so still, every Saturday evening/ Sunday morning. Leader to say: In David Club, we learn about God's love from the Bible In David Club, we learn about God's promise from the Bible In David Club, we learn about Jesus from the Bible In David Club, we learn about God's heroes from the Bible In the story of (using the placards provided): Fruit of the Spirit The Holy Spirit can teach us to behave in a godly way. David and Goliath It tells us that we do not have to be afraid, God is with us. Psalm 23 God watches over us all the time. He cares for us. Creation God creates all things good. He creates me.

4 Station Activity 2 Worship (5 mins) Props needed: Musical instruments that we use in David Club (1 type each) Introduction song for this station (Jump up and sing loudly) This is the way we sing to God, sing to God, sing to God. This is the way we sing to God, every Saturday evening/ Sunday morning. Leader to say: In David Club, we sing and worship God through (leaders to enhance your teaching, please think of the actions that you want the children to do): Using musical instruments like tambourine, bells, hand sticks and scarves to worship God. (Please show the musical instruments to children). Raising our hands Dancing with our feet Waving our scarves Jumping up and down Rolling our hands Games: (Simple Simon Says) Leader to say: When I say: GKidz leaders says we worship God by raising our hands, children, you are to raise your hands. If I say Raise our hands, then children you are not to raise your hands. Do you know why you do not raise your hands? Because I did not say GKidz leaders says... Use the praise and worship actions above in this game, eg: dancing with our feet. Continue the game until the time is up to move to next station. Station Activity 3 Prayer (5 mins) Introduction song for this station (Fold hands and bow head) This is the way we pray to God, pray to God, pray to God. This is the way we pray to God, every Saturday evening/ Sunday morning. Leader to say: Praying is talking to Jesus, we can talk to Him any time and everywhere. We can talk to God in the morning, after school, at night, when we are sick, etc. Now, we are going to pretend that: Pretend Play 1 (with actions): In the morning, I wake up, I brush my teeth, I wash my face and I must also remember to pray, so let s say this prayer together with me: Jesus, I am going to Playschool/child care. Please be with me. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen!

5 Pretend Play 2 (with actions): In the afternoon, I play my toys. I have my lunch and I must also remember to pray, so let s say this prayer together with me: Jesus, I thank you for the food I am going to eat for lunch and the toys I am going to play with. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen Pretend Play 3 (with actions): At night, I brush teeth, change into my pajamas and prepare to go to bed and I must also remember to pray, so let s say this prayer together with me: Jesus, I thank you for you are with me today, please give me a good night sleep and no nightmares. In Jesus name, I pray. Pretend Play 4: Leader A pretends to be sad / sick and another leader to lead children to pray for Leader A. Jesus, I pray that you will heal aunty/uncle from (sadness/sickeness). In Jesus name, I pray. Amen! Station Activity 4 Craft (5 mins) (The children will be doing their craft in this station, leaders to collect the craft from the children if this is not their last station) Introduction song for this station (pretend to cut, color, etc) This is the way we do our craft, do our craft, do our craft. This is the way we do our craft, every Saturday evening/ Sunday morning. Leader to say: Children, the craft we do every week and bring it home is to remind us about the teaching/story we learn from GKidz. We remember about God's love when we do our craft We remember about God's promise when we do our craft We remember Jesus when we do our craft We remember God's heroes when we do our craft Let s start our craft today!

6 Small Group Segment: Week 2 (09 & 10 Jan) Weekly Small Group Time & Craft: My Little Accordion Bible Material needed: 1) A3 paper cut into half horizontally to make two long, narrow pieces of papers 2) Bible sticker for the book cover 3) Four bible story stickers with picture and the wordings below: a) Fruit of the Spirit The Holy Spirit can teach us to behave in a godly way. b) David and Goliath We do not have to be afraid, God is with us. c) Psalm 23 God watches over us all the time. He cares for us. d) Creation God creates all things good. He creates me. What To Do: 1. Give out half piece of the A3 paper to the children. 2. N3 and N4 children to fold the paper to make a book. 3. N2 children leader may have to pre-fold the paper to form the accordion folds. 4. Give out the Bible sticker to children to paste on the book cover. 5. Give out the four bible story stickers to the children to paste inside the pages. 6. Remember to write the names and groups of the children at the back of the book.

7 Steps To Fold The Book: 1. Fold the paper in half. 2. Take the top layer of paper, flip the edge back to meet the fold, and crease. 3. Turn the paper over, flip the edge of the paper back to meet the fold, and crease. 4. When finished folding, make sure the book is flip from right to left. There will be 4 pages inside the book.
