The Hebrew Language Pastor Art Palecek 6/25/2012 The Letter Shin Exodus 17:11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. The letter Shin naturally looks as though it s reaching upward, petitioning God for help and sustenance. It looks as though it could be a tree with its branches stretching out towards the sun, or a fire with it s flame flickering. The Shin which is a symbol of God s Divinity and power but also a can be a symbol of corruption. It is the 21st letter, and 2nd to last letter of the Aleph-Bet When shin is out of order leads to sheker, which is falsehood. Vrq It s numerical value is 300 Judges 7:16 And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers. Judges 7:22 And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: 1

The Shin is associated with the Divine, but also with falsehood and mischief if out of order. In Hebrew Vowels, there is the vowel Shuruk, which is spelled in Hebrew: qrws It consists of the same consonants as Sheker. This vowel does not appear in any of the Divine names. It s not in the the first sentence of creation,, which is based on truth. Neither is it in the 10 commandments. Neither is it in the names of the Patriarch s or the matriarch s. No falsehood can be associated with God or the names of God. The Aleph bet ends with the Tav, which alludes to truth which is spelled: tma -ehmet Joshua 22:2 And said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you: Kept:-Shamar rmv -to guard or protect :to hedge about (as with thorns), attend to, etc.:--beward, be circumspect, take heed (to self) In the picture language, it is: to destroy the chaos in the head 2

The Hebrew word for sharpen is Nnv shaman: which is related to the tooth Ns We see this in the Shema: Deuteronomy 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children Teach them diligently: MtnnSw The word in Hebrew for repentance is shuv. bv In the picture language it is which means to destroy the house-or be taken captive. Genesis 9:13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. Genesis 9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. Bow: tvq qesheth bending: a bow, It is a sign that we remember Him who makes the covenant and keeps them. Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace (Nx chen) in the eyes of the LORD. 9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just (qydu tsaddik) man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. 3

The Tefillin is a cube shaped leather box that is worn by orthodox Jews during prayer The Tefillin placed on the head has a large shin embossed on the right side, but on the left is a four headed shin. But in a graven script, the shin is formed by 4 frames, one on each side and two in the middle. For this reason, this shin is called the shin of 4 heads The Ten words were engraved on tablets according to Exodus. Exodus 32:16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. The 3 Headed shin is known as the letters of the Fathers: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The 4 headed shin is known as the the shin of the Matriarch s- Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel & Leah. 4

5 The 4 headed shin is known as the the shin of the future. How God looks in the window so He can be seen. Yet the concealed one is as He peers through the lattice and can see, but not be seen.. In the opening words of Song of Solomon, the letter shin is in large type, just as the beit is in Bereshit. The Bet in Bershit is enlarged to show that the purpose of creation on earth is for the sake of Torah and Israel, reishis (first), because they join to manifest God s presence in the world. The enlarged Shin is written to describe the mutual love between God and Israel, and the fulfillment of His purposes. God reveals Himself as Shaddai: the unlimited one yds yd means enough dai Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. Job 26:10 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end. Job 38:8 Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? Job 38:11 And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed? Job 38:19 Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And as for darkness, where is the place thereof, 5

6 20 That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, And that thou shouldest discern the paths to the house thereof? Peace in greek (eirene) is used 58 times from Romans to Revelation. In the gospels it s used 21 times, 13 times in Luke, 5 times in John eirhnh eirene i-ray-nay-peace-corresponds with Shalom in the Septuagaint It s used in Rabbi Shaul s epistles 42 times, 13 times in the salutation of each of his letters. It s used 16 times in the remaining 8 epistles, 6 times in the salutation in Peter s, John s, Jude s and Revelation. Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Perfect peace in the text is: Mwlv Mwlv-Shalom, Shalom Ephesians 5:1 Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children; Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. It s reads in the text: the future chief of well being -Sar Shalom John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: Numbers 5:23 And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water: God here puts so much value on the importance of peace that He is willing to give up His name, which is written in holiness to be erased from the book for the sake of peace between a man and his wife. The Prince of Peace then is greater than Moses, Isaiah, and all the rest of the prophets, for none of them would be able to establish lasting peace. Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 6

8 The lamb is such that it is tied on the altar and stretch s out its neck for our sakes.
