Myrbdl Myrpomh Ha Misparim La Debarim The Numbers of the Words by Craig Peters Psalm 75 and the Cohenim/Priests ta The Hebrew word for priest is co-heyn ( Nhk ), 1 and the misparim value of this word is 75. This misparim value is obtained as follows: 75 = (50) N + (5) h + (20) k = Nhk = coheyn = priest We will show it is not mere coincidence the 75 th Tehillah (Psalm 75) reveals the working of hwhy in regard to the Levitical priesthood and, specifically, to the exaltation of Shemuel (Samuel), the priest. First: Psalm 75 falls within Book Three, the Leviticus Book of Tehillim: that Third Book of Tehillim ranges from Psalm 73 to Psalm 89. This means Psalm 75 is the third psalm of the third book, the book pertaining to the priesthood. Second: Psalm 75 was written by Asaph, a priest, a Levite, and a contemporary 2 of Shemuel the priest of whom this psalm was written. Third: While the various truths of Psalm 75 may be applied to many situations, below is evidence which shows this body of text was a direct reference to the working of hwhy among the priesthood. Specifically, in this psalm, we find a retrospective look at the exaltation of Shemuel, as priest, 3 and the removal of the house of Eli (including his rebellious sons, Chophni and Phinechas 4 ) from the priesthood. These things, in turn, related to the eventual coming and exaltation of the Ultimate Priest, eswhy the Messiah, and to hwhy judging the ends of the earth and establishing His Kingdom in all the earth. Before providing detailed support of this third point, we begin by reading Psalm 75: Tehillah 75 A Psalm of Asaph: a Song 1 Unto You, Elohim, do we give thanks; unto You do we give thanks: for that Your Name is near Your wondrous works declare. 2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly. 3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah. 4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: 5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. 6 For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7 But Elohim is the Judge: He puts down one, and sets up another. 8 For in the hand of hwhy there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture, and He pours out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them. 9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the Elohim of Ya acob. 10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted. 1 As might be gleaned from the article s title, cohenim is the Hebrew plural for coheyn. 2 1Chronicles 6:29, 2Chronicles 29:30 3 1Samuel 2:30,35 4 1Samuel 2:12-17, 22-25, 27-34, 3:
We now compare the above psalm with the words of Channah (Hannah), Shemuel s mother, as seen in her exultation (1Samuel 2:1-10), along with the events over the years which followed this time. In light of the Messiah, we see these events in the life of her son only partially fulfilled her prophecies. Thus, we provide evidence her prophecies were for Shemuel and David as well as for the Ultimate David, the Messiah. After Shemuel began ministering before hwhy, the Word of hwhy was revealed to him. Shemuel was exalted to be a priest in Israel while the house of Eli was put down for its open rebellion against the word of hwhy. 5 Tehillah 75 refers to these great events and leaves instruction for each of us to take to heart in our personal lives. 6 1 Unto You, Elohim, do we give thanks: unto You do we give thanks: for that Your Name is near Your wondrous works declare. Psalm 75:1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoices in hwhy: my horn is exalted in hwhy: my mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation. There is none qadosh as hwhy: for there is none beside You: neither is there any rock like our Elohim. 1Samuel 2:1-2 Mosheh and Aharon among His priests, and Shemuel among those who call upon His Name; they called upon hwhy, and He answered them. Psalm 99:6 2 When I shall receive the congregation, I will judge uprightly. Psalm 75:2 He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of honor. 1Samuel 2:8 Comment: When hwhy made Shemuel priest, he received the congregation. Shemuel was given the authority to rule over Israel through the priesthood, and he did judge uprightly in this position: And I will raise up to Me a faithful priest that shall do according to that which is in My heart and in My mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before My anointed for ever. 1Samuel 2:35 And the word of Shemuel came to all Israel 1Samuel 4:1 3 And Shemuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you will return to hwhy with all your hearts, then put away the strange deities and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto hwhy, and serve Him only: and He will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. 4 Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served hwhy alone. 5 And Shemuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you unto hwhy. 6 And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before hwhy, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against hwhy. And Shemuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh. 7 And when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpeh, the rulers of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines. 8 And the children of Israel said to Shemuel, Cease not to cry to hwhy our Elohim for us, that He will save us out of the hand of the Philistines. 9 And Shemuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a burnt offering wholly unto hwhy: and Shemuel cried to hwhy for Israel; and hwhy heard him. 10 And as Shemuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but hwhy 5 Further, a similar thing occurred with the rebellion of King Sha ul and the exaltation of Kind David. 6 Romans 15:4, 1Corinthians 10:6,11 2
thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, 7 and troubled them; and they were smitten before Israel. 11 And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Bethcar. 12 Then Shemuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto has hwhy helped us. 13 So the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more into the coast of Israel: and the hand of hwhy was against the Philistines all the days of Shemuel. 14 And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath; and the coasts thereof did Israel deliver out of the hands of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites. 15 And Shemuel judged Israel all the days of his life. 1Samuel 7: And all the people said to Shemuel, Pray for your servants to hwhy your Elohim, that we die not: for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask us a king. 20 And Shemuel said to the people, Fear not: you have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following hwhy, but serve hwhy with all your heart; 21 and do not turn aside: for then you will go after vain things, which cannot profit or deliver; for they are vain. 22 For hwhy will not forsake His people for His great Name s sake: because it has pleased hwhy to make you His people. 23 Moreover as for me, Elohim forbid that I should sin against hwhy in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way: 24 Only fear hwhy, and serve Him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things He has done for you. 25 But if you shall still do wickedness, you shall be consumed, both you and your king. 1Samuel 12: The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah. Psalm 75:3 For the pillars of the earth are of hwhy, and He has set the world upon them. 1Samuel 2:8 4 I said to the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: 5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. Psalm 75:4-5 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogance come out of your mouth: for hwhy is an Elohim of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed. 1Samuel 2:3 6 For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7 But Elohim is the Judge: He puts down one, and sets up another. Psalm 75:6-7 hwhy shall judge the ends of the earth 1Samuel 2:10 He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit a throne of honor. 1Samuel 2:8 The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren has born seven; and she that has many children has grown feeble. hwhy kills, and makes alive: He brings down to the grave, and brings up. hwhy makes poor, and makes rich: He brings low, and lifts up. He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit a throne of honor. 1Samuel 2: Samuel 2:10 3
Therefore, hwhy Elohim of Israel says, I said, indeed, that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before Me for ever: but now hwhy says, Be it far from Me; for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed And I will raise up to Me a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in My heart and in My mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before My anointed for ever. 1 Samuel 2:30, 35 For I have told him 8 that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knows; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. 1Samuel 3:13 8 For in the hand of hwhy there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture, and He pours out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them. Psalm 75:8 The adversaries of hwhy shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall He thunder upon them. hwhy shall judge the ends of the earth 1Samuel 2:10 9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the Elohim of Ya acob. Psalm 75:9 Therefore, hwhy Elohim of Israel says, I said, indeed, that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before Me for ever: but now hwhy says, Be it far from Me; for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed And I will raise Me up a faithful priest, 9 that shall do according to that which is in My heart and in My mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before My anointed for ever. 1 Samuel 2:30, All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted. Psalm 75:10 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoices in hwhy: my horn is exalted in hwhy: my mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation. 1Samuel 2:1 hwhy kills, and makes alive: He brings down to the grave, and brings up. hwhy makes poor, and makes rich: He brings low, and lifts up. 1Samuel 2: He will keep the feet of His reverent ones, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. 1Samuel 2:9 The adversaries of hwhy shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall He thunder upon them. 11 hwhy shall judge the ends of the earth, and He shall give strength to His king, and exalt the horn of His Mashiach. 1Samuel 2:10 8 i.e., Eli 9 i.e., Shemuel 10 See also: 1Samuel 2:27-34, 4: Samuel 7:10, Psalm 18:13-15, 97:1-5, Luke 17:24, Revelation 4:5, 8:5, 11:19, 16:
Summary Tehillah 75 must number among the most awe-inspiring of any we have been given. The 75 th Psalm is one which enjoins much humility in the face of a great and awesome Creator Who will someday prevail over all evil: we must seek to align ourselves with His Mashiach (Messiah) who will one day thunder from the heavens and judge the ends of the earth. 12 Given the word priest, in Hebrew, has a number value of 75, we have shown it is not coincidence that the subject matter of Psalm 75 is one which relates to the priesthood. Further, the many themes seen in this song clearly reflect back on the exultation of the once-barren Channah. Her words of immense rejoicing are bursting with numerous prophecies prophecies not only fulfilled in the life of her son, Shemuel, the priest, but prophecies which were also Messianic in nature 13 as they looked forward to the coming of king David and, most of all, to the coming of the Ultimate King: eswhy the Messiah, the King of Israel and the High Priest forever after the order of Melchi-Tsedek. 14 ta Copyright , by Craig Peters and IAH Publications.
