1 1 2 3/11/07 Ezk. 46:1-48:35 We gave you an outline of these last nine chapters, last time and diagrams of the temple layout. 1. The new temple and glory detailed. Ezk. 40:1-43:12 * The temple without the presence of God is a mere building, God fills the temple with His Shekinah glory! 2. The new worship and service of the temple is described. Ezk. 43:13-47:12 * The worship without the direction of God is mere ritual, God overflows His living water from His presence in the temple, as the provisions of God! 3. The new tribal divisions of the land and city of God is declared. Ezk. 47:13-48 * The people fill the land in fulfillment of the promises of God! We began our study of the new worship and service of the temple last study, we will continue and finish with the final section of the tribal division of the and city. Ezk. 43:13-47:12 46:1-8 The Sabbath and the new moons ordinances. 1) The east gateway of the inner court shall be shut the six working days; but on the Sabbath an the New Moon it shall be opened. vs. 1 * Ex. 31:13, ) The prince is to enter by way of the vestibule of the gateway from the outside, and stand by the gatepost and observe. vs. 2 a) The priests will prepare his burnt offering peace offerings, symbolic of dedication, consecrated fellowship with God. b) He shall worship at the threshold of the gate. c) Then he will go out, but the gate will not be shut until evening. 3) The people will also worship at the entrance to this gateway before the LORD on the Sabbaths and the New Moons. vs. 3 * They equally will be able to observe. 4) The number of burnt offering to be offered by the prince to the LORD on the Sabbath day will be six lambs without blemish, and a ram without blemish. vs. 4 * Different from the Old Testament. Num. 28:9 5) The accompanying grain offering shall be one ephah (24 liters) for a ram, and the grain offering for the lambs, as much as

2 3 4 he wants to give, as well as a hin (6 quarts) of oil with every ephah. vs. 5 6) On the day of the New Moon the prince will offer a young bull without blemish, six lambs, and a ram; they shall be without blemish. vs. 6 7) He shall prepare a grain offering of an ephah for a bull, an ephah for a ram, as much as he wants to give for the lambs, and a hin of oil with every ephah. vs. 7 8) When the prince enters, he shall go in by way of the vestibule of the gateway, and go out the same way. vs. 8 * Uzziah offered incense and was struck with leprosy. 2Chron. 26: :9-15 The direction of entry and exit of the inner gate and general regulations.. 1) The people who come before the LORD on the appointed feast days and enter by the north gate to worship has to go out by way of the south gate; and whoever enters by the south gate will go out by the north gate. They are not to return by way of the gate through which they entered, but are to go out the opposite gate. vs. 9 2) The prince will be in their midst of the people, when they go in, he will go in; and when they go out, he shall go out. vs. 10 3) At the festivals and the appointed feast days the grain offering shall be an ephah for a bull, an ephah for a ram, as much as he wants to give for the lambs, and a hin of oil with every ephah. vs. 11 4) When the prince makes a voluntary burnt offering or voluntary peace offering to the LORD, the gate that faces toward the east shall then be opened for him; and he shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings as he did on the Sabbath day. Then he shall go out, and after he goes out the gate shall be shut. vs. 12 5) The daily morning offerings are listed. vs a) The burnt offering. vs. 13 b) And you shall prepare a grain offerings. vs. 14 c) The lamb, the grain offering, and the oil, as a regular burnt offering. vs. 15 * The Mosaic Law required morning and evening. Num. 28:3-8 46:16-18 The regulations of the princes regarding property inheritance. 1) If the prince gives a gift to his sons of his inheritance to any of his sons, it will be theirs by inheritance, he can not take it back. vs. 16 * Mentioned already. 3 5 6 2) If he gives a gift of some of his inheritance to one of his servants, it will only be his until the year of liberty, after which it shall return to the prince, not so with his sons. vs. 17 * The year of Jubilee. Lev. 25:10 3) The prince will not be allowed to confiscate the people s inheritance by evicting them from their property. vs. 18 * The motive being implied is in order to give it to his sons, that is to come through his own possession, so that the people of God not be scattered from his property. Like Ahab did to Naboth. 1Kings 21 46:19-24 The kitchens to prepare the sacrifices by the priests to mister in the temple. 1) Ezekiel is taken through the entrance at the side of the gate, into the holy chambers of the priests on the north; to the extreme western end of the inner court. vs. 19 2) The location is where the priests will boil the trespass offering and the sin offering and bake the grain offering, in order to not to take them out into the outer court to sanctify the people. vs. 20 * Mentioned already. Ezk. 42:1-14 3) Ezekiel was taken to the outer court to pass by the four corners of the court; where there were four kitchens, each forty cubits long and thirty wide. vs * Already mentioned. Ezk. 44: ) The prophet is told the purpose of the kitchens, for the ministers of the temple to boil the sacrifices of the people. vs :1-12 The life giving waters from the temple. * This is a common picture used in the Scriptures. Ps. 46:4; Joel 3:18; Zech. 14:8 1) The river flows from the threshold of the temple towards the east, flowing from under the temple, south of the alter. vs. 1 2) Ezekiel went out the north gate to the to the outer east gate, where the water ran on the outside. vs. 2 * The same gate the Shekinah Glory of Yahweh left and entered back to the Temple. Ezk. 9-11; 43:1-12 3) The angel guide went out the east gate and measured 1,000 cubits four times, equating, 1,750 feet at 21 inch long cubit, 2,000 feet at a 24 inch long cubit, approximately 1/3 of a mile. vs. 3-5 a. The angel measured and brought the prophet through the water trickled out, coming up to his ankles. vs. 3

4 7 8 b. The angel measured two more times and again brought the prophet through the water increased and came up to his water knees, then his waste. vs. 4 c. The angel finally measured one more time but it was too powerful a river and Ezekiel could not cross it. vs. 5 1) Many have given eloquent sermons teaching the Spirit filled life, but this is not the context! 2) There are plenty of texts that do teach this for the believer and the church. Jn. 4:11; 7:38-39 d. The angel guide said, Have you seen this? and brought the prophet to the bank of the river and asked him, vs. 6 e. There the prophet observed many trees on both banks of the river. vs, 7 * This is not the one John gives to us in Revelation, that one is the Eternal State, there is no sea, no temple. Rev. 21:1-22:6 f. The angel told Ezekiel the waters flowed to the Dead Sea to heal it, filling it with an abundance of fish like the Mediterranean Sea, providing vast fishing. vs. 8-10, Zech. 14 g. There will be some marshes left. vs. 11 h. Along the both banks of the river, there was every kind of tree for food and will bear every month for food and their leaves for medicine, due to the fact that their water flows from the sanctuary. vs. 12 4) The wholesome and healing power of the Kingdom Age is due to God s holiness and ruling. a) Worship without the direction of God is mere ritual and receives no blessings, but being one with God, He overflows His living water from His presence in the temple, as the provisions for his people! Ezk. 47:1 * Zechariah s river comes from Jerusalem to heal dead sea and flow to Mediterranean, confirming Ezekiel. Zech. 14:4-8 b) In the Eternal State, the river proceeds from the throne of God and the Lamb. in the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Rev. 22:1-2 c) In Genesis the tree of life was in the midst of Eden and out into four heads. Gen. 2:9-10 d) In the Eternal state and there is no more curse or death, it must represent

5 9 10 some ongoing benefit in eternity for the overcomer. Rev. 2:7 III. The new tribal divisions and city of God declared. Ezk. 47: :13-21 The boundaries of the land. 1) The borders are to be divided up between the 12 tribes, Joseph having two portions. vs. 13 2) The portions were to be equal, God having sworn with an oath to give them the land. vs. 14 3) The border of the land on the north. vs ) The borders of the land on the east side. vs. 18 5) The border of the south side. vs. 19 6) The borders of the west side. vs. 20 * The boundaries include modern day Lebanon, parts of Syria and the Kingdom of Jordan. 7) The summary statement. vs. 21 8) The Old Testament division of the land is found in the book of Numbers. Num. 34:1-12; Josh. 18:10 47:22-23 The portion for the alien. 1) The stranger would be able to dwell among the Jew. vs. 22 2) The portion given to the stranger would be his inheritance. vs. 23 * Lev. 19:34; 24:22; Num. 9:14 48:1-7 The boundaries of the seven north tribes. 1) Dan, Asher, Naphtali, Manasseh, Ephraim, Reuben and Judah. vs :8-20 The central portion of the land. * Already mentioned. Ezk. 45;1-8 1) The portion of land cubits square set from the east side to the west, with the sanctuary in the center. vs. 8 2) The district is to be set apart for the LORD. vs. 9 3) For the priests--the holy district shall belong: on the north and south 25,000 cubits and on the east and west 10,000 cubits and the sanctuary of the LORD shall be in the center. vs. 10 4) The portion is for the faithful priests of the sons of Zadok, who are sanctified, who have kept God s charge, who did not go astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray. vs. 11 5) The portion is sanctified holy land for the Levites. vs. 12 6) South of the border of the priests, the Levites shall have an area of equal size,

6 11 12 on the north and south 25,000 cubits and on the east and west 10,000 cubits, vs. 13 7) This land can not be sold or exchanged, for it is holy to the LORD. vs. 14 8) A portion of land south of the Levites measuring 25,00 cubits by 5,000 cubits for general use by the city, for dwellings and common-land; and the city shall be in the center. vs. 15 * This completes the 25,000 cubit square. 9) The city itself will be 4,500 x 4,500 cubits. vs ) The common-land that remains of the city property to the north, south, east and west is 250 cubits. vs ) The adjacent land to the east and west of the holy city portion, will be 10,000 cubits, for the workers of the city. vs ) All the tribes will cultivate it. vs ) The summary statement of the entire land area and the holy city. vs :21-22 The portion of land for the Prince. 1) The rest shall belong to the prince, on both sides of the holy district and of the city s property, as far as the eastern border, and westward as far as the western border. vs. 21 2) It shall be the holy district, and the sanctuary of the temple shall be in the center. vs. 21 3) Moreover, apart from the possession of the Levites and the possession of the city which are in the midst of what belongs to the prince, the area between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin shall belong to the prince. vs. 22 * Already mentioned. Ezk. 45:7 48:23-29 The boundaries of the five southern tribes. 1) Benjamin. 2) Simeon. 3) Issachar. 4) Zebulun. 5) Gad. 6) The summary statement of the division of the land. vs :30-35 The gates of the city. 1) The exits of the city are confirmed to be the Holy city by it s measurements, 4,500 square. vs. 30 2) The gates of the city are to be named after the tribes of Israel, the three gates northward: one gate for Reuben, one gate for Judah, and one gate for Levi. vs. 32 3) On the east side, four thousand five hundred cubits, three gates: one gate for Joseph, one gate for Benjamin, and one gate for Dan. vs. 32

7 4) On the south side, measuring four thousand five hundred cubits, three gates: one gate for Simeon, one gate for Issachar, and one gate for Zebulun. vs. 33 5) On the west side, four thousand five hundred cubits with their three gates: one gate for Gad, one gate for Asher, and one gate for Naphtali. vs, 34 6) The perimeter of the city is confirmed to be 18,000 cubits with the climax of the book, and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE. Yahweh Shammah. vs. 35 1) In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Jer. 23:6, 16 2) The gates in the New Jerusalem is the Eternal State, not the Millennium. Rev. 21:
