1 The Day of Atonement [Yom Kippur] is the holiest day on the Hebrew calendar and concludes the 40-day period of teshuva (repentance) observed by Orthodox Jews. This festival provides prophetic insight into the Second Coming of Yeshua (Jesus) when Israel will be restored to its original design and the final judgment of the world will take place at Armageddon. Yom Kippur is the culmination of the period known as the Ten Days of Awe beginning with Rosh HaShanah. During this time, observant Jews engage in deep repentance for deeds committed against their fellow man and then those committed against Almighty G-d. Prayers accelerate from remember us to seal us in the Book of Life begging for mercy. At the end of this Festival, it is taught that the Gates of Heaven are closed and an individual s destiny is sealed for the coming year. While Passover is the prophetic picture of personal salvation for individuals, Yom Kippur is a prophetic picture of t he salvation of the nation of Israel. Passover is the first of the Festivals and the first step in the restoration of mankind. Yom Kippur, on the other hand, is at the end of the festival cycle (being the 6th Feast) and points to the Judgment of mankind and the beginning of the restoration of all things. In the Book of Acts, Luke hints that the return of the L-rd will be on Yom Kippur during a Jubilee Year, when all debts are wiped out and all property returned to its original owner. Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come m the presence of the L-rd, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which G-d has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. 2 atonement that the original ritual symbolized. As part of the ceremony, the High Priest would cast lots for two goats that were identical, since it was said to be one sacrifice. One goat would be sacrificed to the L-rd on the altar (l Adonai) and one would be put aside (l Azazel) to be part of another ritual performed after the first goat was sacrificed. The High Priest would lay both hands, representing the full weight of sin, on the goat (l Azazel), confessing over it the iniquities, transgressions, and sins of the nation of Israel. The goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited; and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness. (Leviticus 16:22) The goat l Azazel was led thru Eastern Gate over an arched bridge, across the Mt. of Olives twelve miles into the wilderness, to a cliff where it would be let go. A scarlet cloth that had been tied around its horn by the High Priest would be torn in half and one half tied to the place where the goat was forced over the cliff to its certain death. The scarlet cloth turned white if repentance was accepted based upon the following Scripture. [1] Come now, and let us reason together, saith the L-rd: Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. (Isaiah 1:18) Azazel is represented in the Book of Enoch as the leader of the rebellious giants in the time preceding the flood; he taught men the art of warfare, of making swords, knives, shields, and coats of mail, and women the art of deception by ornamenting the body, dyeing the hair, and painting the face and the eyebrows, and also revealed to the people the secrets of witchcraft and corrupted their manners, leading them into wickedness and impurity; until at last he was, at the L-rd's command, bound hand and foot by the archangel Raphael and chained to the rough and jagged rocks where he is to abide in utter darkness until the great Day of Judgment, when he will be cast into the fire to be consumed forever. (Enoch viii. 1, ix. 6, x. 4-6, liv. 5, lxxxviii) The head of a goat is used in Satanism to depict the Evil One. Also, in describing the Judgment of the L-rd, goats are used to describe those who have rejected G-d, those who are cursed. 2 / 7

3 When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then He will also say to those on the left hand, Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. (Matthew 25:31-33, 41, 46) The goat whose lot was for the L-rd [l Adonai] symbolizes the sacrifice that will be made at Armageddon where ransom will be made by means of a substitute: Israel s enemies instead of Israel. (Ezekiel 39:1-11) (Zech. 12:1-9) The L-rd will roar from on high, and utter His voice from His holy habitation; He will roar mightily against all the inhabitants of the earth. For the L-rd has a controversy with the nations; He will plead His case with all flesh. He will give those who are wicked to the sword (Jeremiah 25:30, 31) Thus says the L-rd G-d: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal; and I will turn you around and lead you on, bringing you up from the far north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel. You shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the peoples who are with you; I will give you to birds of prey of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.. Surely it is coming, and it shall be done, says the L-rd G-d. This is the day of which I have spoken. (Ezekiel 39:1-8) This day was foretold in the story of David and Goliath, a picture of the final battle between the L-rd s followers (David) and the enemies of Israel and G-d (Goliath). And the Philistine [Goliath] said to David, Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field! Then David said to the Philistine, This day the L-rd will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a G-d in Israel. 4 John the Revelator also described Armageddon this way: Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which fly in midheaven, Come, assemble for the great supper of G-d, so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free men and slaves, and small and great. (Revelation 19:17-18) The goat that was chosen for Azazel (Satan) depicts the fact that the weight of all sin will eventually be fully carried by Azazel when he will be cast away out of the sight of man for 1000 years (Revelation 20:1), eventually to face his final fate in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:10). The reason the sacrifice of both (identical) goats is considered the same sacrifice is that both the goat for Adonai and the goat for Azazel represent G-d s final judgment on the nations who have rejected Yeshua in becoming Israel s enemies, and on Satan, the one who is guilty of deceiving them. For on this day [Yom Kippur] shall atonement be made for you [Israel], to cleanse you from all your sins you shall be clean before G-d. (Leviticus 16:30) The only time Jews prostrate themselves is during the Yom Kippur services when each time the name of G-d is uttered, the holiest word in the universe, Jews bow and prostrate themselves. On the holiest day of the year, in the holiest place on earth, the holiest man on the planet, uttered the holiest word in the universe...such was the task of the Kohen Gadol [High Priest] on Yom Kippur. The L-rd said that when He appears, this would happen, suggesting this would be on Yom Kippur. 4 / 7

5 By Myself I have sworn, My mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked. Before Me every knee will bow; by Me every tongue will swear. (Is. 45:23) Paul twice makes reference to this practice, applying it to the name of Yeshua [Jesus]. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus [the Messiah] is L-rd, to the glory of G-d the Father. (Phili ppians 2:10-11 & Romans 14:11) This Yom Kippur is the beginning of a Jubilee Year 5776 that will culminate on Yom Kippur 5777 when all property must be returned to its original owners (Leviticus 25:8-17). The land shall not be sold permanently, for the land is Mine (Leviticus 25:23) While the World seeks to take land away from Israel, G-d s Word states that ALL the land belongs to Him and He gives it to whomever He pleases. He is now poised to restore the land that He promised to Israel by covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Genesis 15:18, 17:8, 26:3, 35:12). I have made the earth, the men and the beasts which are on the face of the earth by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and I will give it to the one who is pleasing in My sight. (Jeremiah 27:5) This year, the date of Yom Kippur coincides with the Palestinian festival of Eid al-adha, celebrating the day Abraham was willing to sacrifice Ishmael, but sacrificed a lamb instead quite the opposite of the biblical story. Yet, it is ironic that the descendants of Ishmael who come against Israel will be sacrificed on this very day when the L-rd returns for Armageddon. Next year both festivals will again fall on the same calendar day, September 12. This date marks the culmination of the Hebrew Jubilee year on Yom Kippur 5777, when 5 / 7

6 everything is returned to its original owner. As we observe the gathering storm of Russian tanks moving into Syria, Syrian refugees storming Eastern Europe, and many Nations lining up against Israel, a momentous event is about to occur that may seem insignificant and go unnoticed by the world, but carries historical significance. In the United Nations, a majority has voted to allow non-member nations to fly their flags at the UN, one being the Vatican and the other being Palestine. The first, the Vatican, is scheduled to take place just after Yom Kippur. The other, Palestine, is to take place on the 30th of September right after Sukkot, the day of last and final blood moon. The Book of Revelation describes four horses, one white, one red, one black, and the last [pale] green, marking the beginning of the Tribulation Period. The colors of the Palestinian flag to be raised at the UN are: white, red, black, and green. It would seem that the L-rd is displaying for the entire world to see that the Seals of the Scroll detailed in Revelation 5 and 6 are about to be released: a conqueror, war, famine, death, martyrdom, and signs in the heavens. The words of the Prophet Joel begin to take on meaning. I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for My People and for My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted MY LAND. (Joel 3:2) Orthodox Jews believe that repentance is the most powerful weapon against their enemies. It is now time to repent for ourselves, our nation, and Israel. 7 Our [Israel s] weapon is not the IDF, not Netanyahu, nobody. Only teshuva [repentance]. Gil Nachman The renowned social philosopher, Eric Hoffer in 1968 said: "I have a premonition that will not leave me; as it goes with Israel, so will it go with all of us. Should Israel perish, the holocaust will be upon us." Am Yisrael Chai (The people of Israel live) [1] According to the Jewish historian, Josephus, during the forty years that Simon the Just was high priest, the thread actually turned white as soon as the goat was thrown over the precipice: a sign that the sins of the people were forgiven. In later times the change to white was not invariable: a proof of the people's moral and spiritual deterioration, that was gradually on the increase, until forty years before the destruction of the Second Temple, when the change of color was no longer observed. Forty years before the destruction of the Temple was 30 AD, the time of the crucifixion of Yeshua. 7 / 7
