What did the LORD tell Aaron? (v27) 13. Who did Moses and Aaron gather together? (v29) 14. What did the people do? (v31) When you truly believe the LORD, you will worship Him with all your heart. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. (Psalm 9v10) Answers 1) Jethro his father-in-law; 2) The LORD; 3) All the men that wanted to kill Moses; 4) His wife and his sons; 5) The rod of God; 6) All the wonders before Pharaoh that the LORD had given him; 7) Harden Pharaoh s heart; 8) My son, My firstborn ; 9) Let My son (Israel) go or God would kill Pharaoh s firstborn; 10) The LORD; 11) Zipporah his wife; 12) Go to the wilderness to meet Moses; 13) All the elders of the children of Israel; 14) Believed, bowed their heads and worshipped
3 Why was the LORD going to kill Moses? God had told Abraham to have all the boys in his house circumcised. It was a sign of the covenant that God made with him (Genesis 17). It was done to boys when they were 8 days old. For some reason Moses hadn t circumcised his son. Any boys that weren t circumcised were to be put to death (Genesis 17v14). God wasn t pleased with Moses. Moses needed to show he believed God s covenant. This had to be put right before he would lead the Israelites out of Egypt to Canaan. Zipporah saved Moses from death.
4 Monday Moses goes to Pharaoh Bible Reading: Exodus 5v Who went to Pharaoh? (v1) 2. What did they tell Pharaoh? (v1) 3. What did Pharaoh say? (v2) 4. Who had met them? (v3) 5. (v14) MEANINGS: Sacrifice = animal offering; Pestilence = plague; Burdens = heavy loads; Taskmasters = people over them who made them work very hard; Officers = overseers; Vain = false; Heretofore = before; Diminish = make less; Stubble = short stalks of corn left in the ground after harvest is cut; Abroad = over a wide area; Commanded = told to do; Tale of bricks = number of bricks; Demanded = asked forcefully; Fulfilled = done But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king. (Jeremiah 10v10) Pharaoh didn t like God s Word. He wouldn t obey God. He didn t know God. If you don t believe God s Word, you don t know Him or obey Him. Answers 1) Moses and Aaron; 2) Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness; 3) Who is the LORD that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? 5 Pharaoh is a picture of the devil. Pharaoh was looked up to as a god in Egypt. Pharaoh would have known about God...but he wouldn t admit He is God of all. The devil trembles before God...but he still wants to be worshipped as God. Pharaoh was a hard taskmaster. So is the devil. Pharaoh didn t want the children of Israel to worship the One True Living God. The devil doesn t want us to love and worship God. Some Christians have to suffer much for Christ.

Who did they say would judge them? (v21) 10. What did they think Moses and Aaron had done? (v21) MEANINGS: Wherefore = why; Tale of bricks = number of bricks; Minish = make less; Savour = fragrance; Abhorred = really hated; Evil entreated = brought trouble on; They thought Pharaoh and his men could use this chance to kill them. 11. Who did Moses go to? (v22) 12. What 2 things did Moses ask the LORD? (v22) 13. What had Pharaoh NOT done? (v23) What should you do? Why would they NOT hearken to Moses? (v9) The slavery, suffering and misery was so great. They just couldn t take any more. 13. What was Moses to ask Pharaoh to do? (v11) 14. Why did Moses think he wouldn t listen to him? (v12) Moses was feeling down. But the LORD just sent him right back to Pharaoh. He had a work to do for God. God has a work for you too. 9 The names of God tell us what He is like. El Shaddai means God Almighty. There is nothing too hard for God. Jehovah or Yahweh shows us that He is the great covenant keeping God. He has worked down through history for His people. He will not fail them. Jehovah is written as the LORD in the KJV Bible. He says I am the LORD (v2, 6, 7, 8, +29). He will keep His covenant with them. He will deliver them from slavery. They will be His people and He will be their God. He will give them the land that He promised to them. He has Almighty power to do this....and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God. (Exodus 6v7)
10 Thursday Signs done before Pharaoh Bible Reading: Exodus 7v1-13 Other Readings: Psalm 105v26+27; Romans 9v15-17; 2 Timothy 3v8 MEANINGS: Prophet = man who told God s Word; Fourscore = 80; Commanded = told to do; Serpent = snake; Miracle = special wonder done by God; 1. God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. (1 Peter 5v5)
12 Why did the LORD send plagues? Hapi Khnum To get Pharaoh to let the children of Israel go. To judge Egypt and her many gods (7v4; 12v12). To show that God Himself is the Only True God. He rules over all and is Almighty (7v5; 9v14+15; 10v2; 18v11). To show that Israel is God s chosen people. He protected them while the Egyptians suffered (8v22+23; 11v7; 12v27). To show God s power and that His name be told throughout all the earth (9v16). God sent 10 plagues. We will learn about more of these soon. The Egyptians had many gods. They did not worship the One True Living God. The Egyptians worshipped the river Nile as a god. They had different gods to do with the Nile. Hapi was god of the Nile. Khnum was guardian of the Nile. None of the Nile gods could stop the river turning into blood or keep the fish alive! What a stink from the Nile! (v21) Pharaoh would go to the Nile in the morning to meditate. God told Moses to meet him there (v15). The LORD is Almighty. Pharaoh saw God s power over the Nile.
13 The LORD rules over all. He is greater than all Egyptian gods. You don t believe the LORD did this? Some people think... Red soil washed down from the African mountains made the river blood-red...and poisonous algae killed the fish. If so, how did the water in the pools, streams, wooden and stone containers become blood-red too?
14 Saturday Plague 2: Frogs Bible Reading: Exodus 8v1-15 Other Reading: Psalm 105 v30 1. What was the second plague the LORD sent? (v2) 2. Where would the frogs be? (v3+4) 3. Who stretched out his hand over the waters? (v5+6) 4. What was in Aaron s hand? (v5) 5. What did the magicians use to bring up frogs? (v7) 6. What did Pharaoh ask Moses and Aaron to do? (v8) 7. What did Pharaoh say he d do? (v8) 8. When did Pharaoh tell them to do it? (v9+10) 9. Where would the frogs only be? (v11) 10. What would Pharaoh know? (v10) 11. Who did Moses and Aaron cry to about the frogs? (v12) 12. What did the people do with the dead frogs? (v14) 13. What did Pharaoh do? (v15) MEANINGS: Enchantments = magic spells; Serve = worship; Intreat = pray, ask; Abundantly = very many; Sacrifice = animal Bedchamber = bedroom; offering; Kneading troughs = Respite = relief; containers for making bread in; Hearkened = listened to The LORD rules over all. He is greater than all Egyptian gods. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. (Psalm 10v4) Have you ever gone back on your word to the LORD? Maybe you were sick. You told God you d give your life to Him if He healed you. God healed you...but you didn t keep your promise. Answers 1) Frogs; 2) On Pharaoh, his people and his servants, in their houses, bedrooms, beds, ovens and kneading troughs; 3) Aaron; 4) The rod; 5) Enchantments; 6) Ask God to take the frogs away; 7) Let the people go; 8) The next day; 9) The river; 10) There is none like unto the Lord our God; 11) The LORD; 12) Gathered them into heaps; 13) Hardened his heart
15 Heqt Heqt was the goddess of birth. She had a frog s head. Frogs were sacred to Egyptians. They were not allowed to kill them. So the LORD caused frogs to be everywhere... in houses, beds, food, squashed under their feet. Gross! The magicians just made more. They couldn t make them go away. Only the LORD could do that. Heaps of dead frogs in the heat... what a stink! Pharaoh and the Egyptians saw God s power over water and things that live in it. Some people think... Frogs had to leave the river because it was polluted. If so, how did the frogs live 7 days longer than the fish in the river? (7v21+25) Why would the magicians make more frogs? And why would Pharaoh ask Moses to get the LORD to take away the frogs? Sure they d die in a few days from polluted waters.
