Prof. Dr. Belinda Yuen - University of Singapore, Singapore 5. Professor Dr. Davide Geneletti - University of Trento, Italy 6. Professor Dr. Boy Kombaitan - Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia Additional to the list, it is suggested that additional Editorial Board Members to be co-opted from other town planning institutes within the Commonwealth Association of Planners (CAP) and UN agencies related to sustainability and planning. This should be done by the MIP Secretariat (office). 5. SCOPUS Citation Index and its issue As we know, the Journal was incorporated into the citation indexed on 16 September However, there was an issue to be resolved by MIP with the SCOPUS Elsevier management, i.e. the confusion on ISSN registration. The current Planning Malaysia Journal carries ISSN while the approved one carries ISSN which is belong to JPBD and was used by JPBD in 1990s. This issue was clarified to the Elsevier by the Chief Editor since 2011 and yet to resolve as the Elsivier HQ is still looking at this matter. In , the SCOPUS issue was questioned by the members, especially the universities as the PMJ was not in the list due to the above confusion. Currently, the Editorial Board is in the process of getting the feedback from Elsivier HQ after explaining the actual situation with evidences. 6. Rewards for Editorial Board Members, Referees and Article Contributors We are suggesting that all MIP corporate members who have been selected into the Editorial Board, referees and article contributors to be given appropriate CPD points. For those who are not MIP corporate members some token can be given to them and I would recommend MIP Council to decide on this. 7. Conclusion With the supports from the Council, members and universities, PMJ will continue to publish with quality research works that are international standard and read worldwide. As the process of MOU is underway between MIP and IIUM whereby the IIUM to become a secretariat of the journal, we foresee the quality of the journal can be maintained and upgraded to a higher citation level in the future. It is also possible to publish more issue annually if there are more request from the members or researchers. This synergy helps to promote good planning practices besides positioning the role of town planners. Unlike previous years, where the Institute inked several MOU s with several government agencies and continue to persevere in fulfilling its objectives. This year progresses with fostering collaboration with Agencies promoting Green Cities and Low Carbon City Framework. Also, some collaboration efforts with MBPJ in promoting Transit Oriented Development. Also MIP continues to engage with other stake holders in pursuing a more competitive planning practice and delivery system. This year also witness the Institute helming the Building Industry Presidential Council. In its effort to continue cordial relations with the Federal Department of Town and Country Planning, the council had a warm farewell function with Dato Mohd. Fadzil b. Hj. Mohd. Khir as the outgoing Director General, and soon after the council had a courtesy call on Dr. Dahlia Binti Rosly as the new Director General. Attempt to meet up the new Minister of Housing, Urban Well Being and Local Government is still being pursued. The institute also continues to engage with our Patron office and our Honorary Fellows. The last engagement is in November last year with Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib bin Mahmud, the TYT of Sarawak who has shown passion in planning and development till today. Though the institute s function is to promote Town Planning best practices and professionalism, as well as being benevolent too has brought us to partner with Yayasan Sejahtera Malaysia in helping the needy as well. This year a similar initiative was held but shifted to a rural village in Temerloh, Pahang. Many thanks to the generous members for their kind donations. 41-
