3 MEASUREMENT OF EFFECTIVENESS Effectiveness = The degree to which objectives are achieved and the extent to which targeted problems are solved. The degree to which something is successful in producing a desired result The capability of producing a desired result. Adequate to accomplish a purpose; producing the intended or expected result. Producing a result that is wanted: having an intended effect. SUCCESSFUL ACCOMPLISHMENT OF OBJECTIVES WITH DESIRED/EXPECTED RESULT

4 MEASUREMENT OF EFFECTIVENESS NAS OBJECTIVES EXPECTED/DESIRED RESULTS Take alms out of their property, you would cleanse them and purify them thereby... (9:03). Surah Al- Taubah 9:03).. To cleanse and purify the Muzakkir and Asnaf (Al- Taubah 9:03). Maximising zakat collection CONTEMPORARY TREATMENT OF EFFECTIVENESS Allah will certainly aid those who aid His (cause); for verily Allah is Full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will). (They are) those who, if We establish them in the land, establish regular prayer and give their Zakat, enjoin the right and forbid wrong: with Allah rests the outcome of all affairs. (Surah Al-Hajj 22:40-4). 2. To obtain Allah s help (Al- Hajj 22:40-4). Easing in all deals

That (Mercy) I shall ordain for those who have God-consciousness and give their Zakat and those who believe in Our Signs. (Surah Al-A`raf 7:56). But (even so), if they repent, establish regular prayers, and give their Zakat, they are your brethren in Faith. (Surah Al- Taubah 9:). 3. To attain Allah s mercy (Al-A`raf 7:56). 4. 6 MEASUREMENT OF EFFECTIVENESS NAS OBJECTIVES EXPECTED/DESIRED RESULTS The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, pay their Zakat and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His Mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise. (Surah Al- Taubah 9:7). The mosques of Allah shall be visited and maintained by such as believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish regular prayers, and pay their Zakat and fear none (at all) except Allah. (Surah Al- Taubah 9:8). Who are active in paying Zakat. (Surah Al-Mu minun 23:4). 5. A distinctive feature of the Faithful community (Al-Taubah 9:7). 6. Enlivening mosques (Al-Taubah 9:8). 7. A distinctive quality of the True believers (Al-Mu minun 23:4). Establishment of Islamic Community Active and beneficial mosques (localisation of zakat) Good attributes (mahmudah) CONTEMPORARY TREATMENT OF EFFECTIVENESS. Eradication of Poverty 2. Economic Empowerment 3. Socio-Economic Justice 4. Social Security Note: No problem with the tangibles above, but the exclusion of the intangibles is problematic - imbalance.
