As a precaution we have subtracted 7 minutes for Imsaak, and added 7 minutes for Salatul Fajr. Therefore you will be responsible for your Sawm (fasting) and Salat if you don t follow this precaution. If you exceed 7 minutes from Imsaak time, your Sawm (fasting) will be Batil (void). As far as Tahajjud Salat is concerned, it can be continued during this 7 minutes precautionary time. On the 11th of Dhul Qa dah we celebrate the birthday of Imam Ali ibn Musa ar-reza (as) (148H/765AD). We always remember Imam Reza (as) when we start a journey and pray to Allah (SWT) for our safety and protection through Imam-e-Zaamin (as) (The Guarantor). Among the infinite magnificent qualities of Imam Reza(as); his most defining and well-documented qualities are generosity, equality and respect for humanity. Please enjoy a few short narrations (below) in which Imam Reza (as) exemplifies his consideration for (humanity) people: H I S E N T E R T A I N I N G G U E S T S Imam Ali Reza (as), peace be on him, entertained guests, bestowed liberally upon them, and he himself served them. One day a person stopped at him and he spoke to him at night. When the lamp changed, the guest hurried to set it right, but the Imam went ahead of him and he himself set it right and said to his guest: We are the people who do not employ their guests. [BA] H I S K I N D N E S S T O S L A V E S The Imam, peace be on him, did a lot of good and kindness for the slaves. Abd Allah b. al-salt reported on the authority of a man from the people of Balakh, who said: I was with Imam Reza (as), during his journey to Khurasan. One day he called for food and gathered his black and non-black retainers around it. Hence I asked him: May I be your ransom, could you please isolate food for these (retainers)? As a result, he blamed me for this and said: The Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, is One, the mother is one, and reward will be according to deeds. [BA] Surely, the Imams of the Household (of the Prophet), peace be on them, behaved in such a manner in order to abolish color discrimination among men and to show that they were in one mosque, and that nothing discriminated one person from another except reverential fear and good deeds. H I S K I N D N E S S T O S E R V A N T S Imam Reza's (as) behavior with the poor, the slaves, the servants, and the destitute, was humane in the deepest sense of the word. Imam Reza (as) looked on them as his co-religionists and brothers in humanity. One of his followers related the following: One of his servants Nadir, says: Imam Reza (as) would never assign a task to any of us, the servants, while we were eating, until we had finished. Another servant, Yasir, reported the same about Imam Reza (as), saying, Imam said to us: "If I request you to do something and you are eating, do not get up until you have finished." Sometimes he called for some of us, but when he was told that we were eating, he would say. "Leave them till they finish their food." When Imam Reza (as) had spare time, he would gather all his servants, and talk to them. Imam Reza (as) would show his pleasure with them, which he did to please them. And when he sat at the dining table-cloth, he would invite all those around him, to eat food with him. The narrations are not an original work of IEC Husaini. Adding to its production portfolio, Guidance Television premiered its newest television program, Islam Questions and Answers on September 22, 2009 on the Comcast Cable Network. The first production, H.I. Saiyed M.M. Abidi s Islamic lecture series have been in broadcast for over 1 year. Islam Q and A is the second show to move into a regular production cycle. GTV Islamic outreach programs are designed to educate and inform the viewer about the religion of Islam by offering an open dialogue on specific Islam-related topics. The GTV audience is predominantly non-muslim and therefore the programs are designed for them. The programs offer a concise discussion about Islam and encourages the viewing audience of all faiths to ask questions about Islam. The viewing audience submits their questions on specific topics by to guidancetv@gmail.com. GTV programs discuss many important Islamic topics, including prayer, social issues, current world events, and interfaith relationships with emphasis on mutual respect and understanding. GTV guests will be Muslims, Christians, Jews and people of all faiths. Guests are religious scholars, authors, educators, and knowledgeable professionals and students. The premiere of the Islam Q and A talk show featured a two-part series on the topic of Hijab. Insha Allah future shows will discuss Salat, the Muslim Prayer, Hajj, Prophet Esa/Jesus (as) (interfaith-christmas) and, in a two-part series, What is Ashura? and Understanding Ashura. GTV will do its best to synchronize religious dates with relevant show broadcasts. GTV is broadcast on Sundays on channel 19 or 35 in the N & NW suburbs at 6:30pm and on Tuesdays on channel 19 at 8:30pm in the W and SW suburbs. Please tell your non-muslims about GTV.
