2 Welcome to Faith Formation! Our two primary goals in our children s and youth ministry programs are to provide your family with opportunities to get to know our friend and Savior, Jesus Christ and to support you in raising His disciples in the Catholic faith. It is an honor and a privilege to serve and support your family! 5 Rea Road Elm Lane Carpool Arrival Parish Center All sessions offer an option of dropping your children off in a carpool line. Children may not be dropped off earlier than 15 minutes prior to session start. Doors will open at that time to admit children. Parish Center Church Carpool Flow: Right turn ONLY into Fountain Horseshoe. Children may only exit the car on the sidewalk side, and walk on the sidewalk to the stairs going into the Parish Center. Parents are welcome to park and walk their children into the building instead of using the carpool line. Ballantyne Commons No Left Turns Permitted on entering or exiting. Parish Center Sessions (Mon 3:30, Tue Edge 6:45)

6 Rea Road Elm Lane Dismissal Parish Center Parent/Guardian must enter the building. At the conclusion of all sessions held in the Parish Center, the doors facing Rea Road will be opened to admit parents or guardians. Parish Center Parish Center Church Parents are expected to come all the way into the building, and walk to their child s room or the gym to pick up. Children may not be dropped off earlier than 15 minutes prior to session start. Doors will open at that time to admit children. Carpool Flow: Enter parking lot from Williams Pond Lane. Children may ONLY exit cars on the sidewalk side. There is a one way traffic flow vehicles may not drive towards Williams Pond and drop off children to cross the carpool line. Children enter the side door near the gym. Parents are welcome to park and walk their children into the building instead of using the carpool line. Church St. Matthew School ONE WAY traffic flow children may not be dropped off and cross carpool lane. Sunday 3:30 (Edge), Monday/Tuesday (K-6 th ) 4:45 & 6:45, Wednesday 6:45 (Edge)

Children will be dismissed from the five front doors of the school beginning with the youngest and finishing with the oldest. St. Matthew School During the early weeks, elementary age children will hand you a card with their name on it you must return this card to the volunteer catechist before you leave the designated zone with your child. This will allow the catechist to know for certainty that your child is safely with you. 9 Waxhaw-Marvin Road Arrival Waxhaw Kensington Road Carpool All sessions offer an option of dropping your children off in a carpool line. Children may only exit the vehicle on the side facing the building. Children may not be dropped off and cross the carpool line. Parents are welcome to park and walk their children into the building instead of using the carpool line. ONE WAY traffic flow children may not be dropped off and cross carpool lane. 11 Behavior & Conduct Expectations Show respect for yourself and others. Always keep your hands and feet to yourself. If it does not belong to you, do not touch it. Nice words, good choices always be kind. Try your best. Spend time in prayer every day. The Faith Formation community of St. Matthew expects all our members children, teens and adults to adhere to the rules set forth by God: the Ten Commandments, and to always conduct themselves as instructed by Jesus: love one another. We may not always understand each other, we may not always like each other, but we must love each other and treat each other in a loving, merciful way. We have a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for bullying or threats of any nature by adults or by children.

12 Policies & Expectations Attendance Regular attendance is expected. If you are aware that your child will be missing a number of classes due to activities or family obligations please contact the Office of Faith Formation before the absences occur. Please keep your child home if he/she has displayed any flu-like symptoms or fever within 24 hours of their session. We will make use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer, encourage hand-washing, and supply sanitizing wipes in each classroom. *If your child is ill, and will miss several classes, please let the Faith Formation team know! Early Dismissal* To minimize disrupting your child s small faith community and to respect the time offered by the volunteer catechists, we ask that students not be picked up early unless there is an illness or emergency or a school obligation. If you are picking up early due to a conflict with sports or activities, we respectfully ask that you balance taking your child out of their Faith Formation session early with allowing them to arrive late for the activity on occasion. If you pick your child up early more than twice, you will be asked to choose a different session time. Cell Phones/Electronics Teens and children are permitted to carry their phones as long as they are silenced and not visible during the Faith Formation session. Session time begins at the moment of arrival in the building and ends when they are safely back in your care. Violation of this rule will result in confiscation of the student s cell phone or other electronic device. Parents may retrieve the device at the end of the session from a staff member. The Office of Faith Formation is not responsible for lost or damaged cell phones. *Photo ID Required for any early pick-up.
