1 CHURCH AT WORSHIP C2 FEBRUARY 20, 2016 Second Service Dear Brothers and Sisters, Greetings in the precious name of our lord and savior Jesus Christ, Is there something in your life that grips your attention when you do not want it too? Often times we are confronted by past memories that will not go away and we sometimes becomes frustrated by that situation. I was studying my bible and discovered a very powerful text that has helped me to deal effectively with past painful or embarrassing memories (Phil. 3:13) Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, Forgetting the past so you can reach for the future can bring gut-wrenching pain to your soul. I know that pain all too well as I have experienced it a number of times. Sometimes moving on feels like leaving a piece of yourself behind Forgetting those things which are behind is perhaps one of the greatest challenges we can face, especially when those "things" were a major part of our daily lives. But I'm here to tell you that we can forget those things which are behind. Or at least we can remember them without the gut-wrenching pain we felt while we were making the transition. And we can press on toward the goal with joy. Dwelling on an unpleasant past, no matter how recent or far away that past is, can't lead to healing. Dwelling on an unpleasant past isn't the path to forgiveness. Dwelling on an unpleasant past can't send you to the next place God wants to take you. It just can't. Dwelling on an unpleasant past can only keep you tied to that past, which hinders you from moving forward in God. If your past is one of shame, guilt and condemnation for sins you have committed, God is ready, willing and able to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Our job is not to wonder what could have been or what will be. Our job is to obey God. Be assured, when we don't walk in obedience to the Word the challenge to forget those things which are behind becomes even greater. He gives grace to those who seek to obey. God is a gracious and forgiving God. He's always moving forward. By His grace and with a will determined not to dwell on an unpleasant past we can overcome the challenge of forgetting those things that are behind. It won't be easy. The past may even come back to "haunt" you sometimes. But the battle really is in the mind. The good news is, you have the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16) and God has a good plan for you. Press forward to that goal. Leave the past behind. Give your past painful memories to Jesus and he has a place where he takes them and where he places them you cannot find them, therefore trust Him and focus on what you can become in Christ. 3 THE CHURCH AT STUDY February 20, :15 AM 10:45 AM Theme Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Inheritance Welcome Sis. Patricia Douglas Opening Prayer.. Naomi Wilson Opening Song Pass Me Not O Gentle Savior. #569...Congregation Scripture Reading Rom 8:15.. Kenisha Brown World Mission Emphasis Ian Batt PASTORAL ANNOUNCEMENTS Baptismal class Why should my child be baptized? Baptism is an act of obedience to God. We get baptized to obey God's Word. When Jesus gave the Great Commission to his disciples he said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." This is not an option, it is a command. But, before we get baptized we must be a disciple or follower of Jesus. In Acts 2:38, Peter says, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ." This shows that every person who repents of their sins and believes in Jesus as their Lord and Savior needs to be baptized. Baptism is also the main way we publicly profess our desire to follow the Lord. In baptism we are saying that God has saved me and I am his from head to toe. Your body needs cholesterol, but when you have too much it can build up in your arteries and cause heart disease. There are different types of cholesterol. One type is high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or good cholesterol that can protect you from heart disease. Another type is low-density-lipoprotein (LDL), known as bad cholesterol that can increase your risk of heart disease." CDC.gov. Decreasing or getting rid of animal fat helps lower your LDL. Decrease foods that are high in sugar. Eat more fruits and veggies (in addition to whole grains) to increase your fiber, which has been shown to help control overall cholesterol levels aim for about 25 grams a day. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy isten carefully to e, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. saiah : C3F2 Small group leadership training Do you desire to fulfill all the unique plans God has for you and bear much fruit for His Kingdom but you know you need some practical training first?
