2 Brief History Set Apart Ministries, Inc. (SAM) grew out of the work being done at Still Waters, Inc. of Green Bay, which was a state certified mental health outpatient clinic, and Barbara Klika s private practice. In 2006, Still Waters was downsized to a small, home based practice and changed its focus to personal life coaching. stillwatersgb.org/

3 Personal Life Coaching Barb s book, Christians and Depression: Real People, Real Questions Real Answers 2007 is the primary remaining service for Still Waters along with limited personal counseling and telephone coaching. The book is available for sale online as an e-book. e

4 SAM s Roots Set Apart Ministries grew out of the need to provide help and encouragement to those coming out of an abusive background in a prayerful, discipleship model, beyond what could be done in a traditional clinical setting.

5 SAM is a community of believers helping those who have been through severe trauma find hope and restoration. Prayer Counsel Discipleship Bible study from a Hebraic Perspective in participatory style Social and worship gatherings Fellowship, Not just social-ship ship with a focus on the development of maturity in all ways.

6 Hebrews 10: This is our mission statement which, along with the name Set Apart Ministries, was given to Barb after a month of prayer and fasting in 1999 for Messiah s direction on how to provide the additional help and support so desperately needed by people who had experienced every possible kind of abuse: emotional, physical, sexual and spiritual as well as mind control. It was clearly evident that the limitations of traditional therapy were inadequate for this kind of healing.

7 But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings: partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of those who were so treated; for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven. Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. for you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: "For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him." But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

8 Leadership Barbara Klika, MSW, Personal Coach Robert Klika, BS Janell Schroeder BBA Barb and Janell are both certified Bethel Bible Study teachers and Janell is a Precepts teacher as well. She is currently pursuing a Messianic Studies Bachelor Degree as well as her full time employment, and service in SAM as a lead teacher and support person. Marilyn Zierhart,, lay counselor, and Personal Life Coach, joined our leadership group in 2002.

9 In 2002, it became evident that SAM would be more than just a group. Many efforts to enlist support through area churches continued to find more people in need rather than helpers. We understood, finally, that we needed to grow the support from the inside out in community through faith and by the Holy Spirit s direction.

10 And we, being many, are one Body in Messiah Maturity development and the use of an elder model characterize this community. We are growing future leaders as they mature and heal. The division between helper and helpee helpee became less important as we understood how much we are all dependent on our Messiah and that He will use whom He will use! He, Messiah Yeshua, is our Head and we all desire to grow up in every way into Him!

11 Messianic Equipping Community It was also evident by 2002 that SAM would be a Messianic community, and that our borders had been enlarged to include a larger population of people making lifestyle transitions to a Torah Pursuant one as well as those coming out of abusive backgrounds.

12 Organizational Goals Encourage and support maturity in all ways within the Body of Messiah, particularly through the Life Model process and the development of Covenant Relationships and Spiritual adoptions. Ephesians 4: 10-16; 16; 1 Corinthians 13: 11 We are about Mama s Torah, the development of maturity and character that must be in place in order to correctly interpret Papa s Torah, the finer points of the Law. Proverbs 1: 8b

13 Provide clinical, prayerful assistance to those who have experienced trauma, as resources permit. Galatians 6: 2; James 5: Provide personal life coaching for individuals and groups. Hebrews 3: 13, 10:

14 Raise up an army of worshippers with the high praise of Yah in our mouths and a two edged sword in our hands. Psalm 149: 6 Provide a weekly interactive study in the Torah to show ourselves approved as Students of the Word. 2 Tim. 2: 15; 3: 16-17; 17; Acts 17: 11

15 Assist in the restoration of knowledge of our Hebraic Heritage and the gathering of the lost sheep of Ephraim toward the goal of the restoration of both houses of Israel to be made as one in the Father s Hand. Ezekiel 37: 15-28

Jeremiah 29: 11 And by 2005, to our surprise, we understood that we would be an intentional community. Not just a casual study group, not just a short term group, but a covenant relationship long term group. Here we are pictured in at our Passover gathering.

18 A Life Model Community In fact, community relationships ARE a major portion of strengthening and healing! When even those who have been severely traumatized have developed increased joy and trust, we can see how much more all people can benefit through application of Life Model principles in our daily relationships and lives.

22 Our Community IS the Message! Community relationships are not just incidental for those who look to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He cannot be understood outside the context of relationship. We believe, teach and live that restoration from previous trauma is best accomplished within relationships that are centered in Messiah.

23 Our Teaching Materials We are developing a 3 part package. The first is already available: Maturity in Prayer Life CD. The Second CD is nearing completion: Drama Triangles for Messianic Fellowships A Draft is available for review.

24 Our Teaching Materials The Third in the series is a PowerPoint presentation entitled The Importance of Echad in Community. A draft is available for review. This presentation pulls together the concepts of personal growth and faith, corporate growth and faith in the context of the spiritual realm and applies them for Believers in our day.

31 Prison Aftercare Network SAM is a member of the Brown County Prison Aftercare Network group newly formed in This group of Christian ministries helps us connect with resources as we assist ex-offenders to settle back into the community. One young man is already with us and Marilyn Zierhart continues correspondence with several other Messianic prisoners around the country.

32 Appropriate Referrals for SAM? Those who are interested in understanding more about themselves in the context of faith, maturity and relationships; and willing to accept accountability and the elder model of this equipping community. Those who have had some exposure and interest in a Messianic Lifestyle: more than just curiosity, a willingness to participate in a Torah pursuant community for an agreed upon amount of time.
