3 Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. For every teen to surrender to God s predestined plan to be more like Christ. We want the teen to understand that God has saved them for service. They must first understand that their life is not their own, yet they are not to remain stagnant but to present a spiritual sacrifices to God. Have service opportunities to help widows in the church (mowing lawns, pulling weeds, baking cookies) Get them involved with the church ministries (nursery, choir, children s church, ushering, bus ministry) Emphasize messages/lessons containing God s purpose for every young person. Hold a mini conference entitled God s Plan for You. 1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Romans 11:36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. Every teen s choice of entertainment is to be based on God and His Word. Whether they watch a movie, listen to music, or go to a public event, they are reminded with the question Is this God honoring? Teens like to have fun. Showing them we can honor God with our fun can be one of the greatest accomplishments of a youth worker Movie Night shows which movies are acceptable Fun activities canoeing, rodeo, paintball, laser tag, going to summer camp. 4 Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. Submit to the authority God has ordained whether it be ecclesiastical, parental, governmental, or any other form of authority God has placed over their lives. Have a parent appreciation banquet Take a gift basket to law enforcement officers Write thank you cards to government officials Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Ephesians 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Promote the importance of God s Word and the authoritative affect it has on every aspect of our teenager s life. This shows the teenager that our rules and standards we hold are not created from thin air but have an eternal foundation. Have a Bible reading schedule and incentives for completing. Have the teens keep a daily journal based on what they learned from their Bible reading. Have a memory verse sheet for the teens to memorize every week. 5 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Yield to the possibility of going to a Bible college for further training. This will create a foundation for strong beliefs and will emphasize the urgency for more laborers. Invite colleges to come and promote their school Post good Bible colleges on the youth bulletin Periodically show college videos in youth meeting Go on college trips Matthew 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
