3 He is touched with the feeling of our infirmity. That is, having suffered all that sinful flesh is heir to, He knows all about it and so closely does He identify Himself with His children that whatever presses upon them makes a like impression upon Him and He knows how much Divine power is necessary to resist it, 3 3

4 and if we but sincerely desire to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, He is able and anxious to give to us strength exceeding abundantly, above all that we ask or think. All the power which Christ had dwelling in Him by nature, we may have dwelling in us by grace, for He freely bestows it upon us. (EJW, CHR 29.2) 4 4

7 We are to be one with Christ as he is one with the Father, and the Father will love us as he loves his Son. We may have the same help that Christ had, we may have strength for every emergency; for God will be our front guard and our rereward. 7 7

8 He will shut us in on every side, and when we are brought before rulers, before the authorities of the earth, we need not meditate beforehand of what we shall say. God will teach us in the day of our need (RH February 18, 1890, par. 23). 8 8

14 The word is spirit and life, and if it is brought into the daily practice it will ennoble the whole nature of man. There will be opened to his soul such a view of the Saviour s love as portrayed by the pen of Inspiration that his heart will be melted into tenderness and contrition. (MM 124.1) Isaiah 53:

16 The miracles of Christ for the afflicted and suffering were wrought by the power of God through the ministration of the angels. (DA 143) 16 16

17 And at any time during His life on this earth He could have called to His Father for twelve legions of angels. But no bribe, no temptation to lead Him to manifest His divine prerogatives, could induce Him to deviate from the path of God s appointment. (Lt ; also UL 39) 17 17

18 He could have called legions of angels to His aid; for He was the Prince of heaven. But He did not do this. Laying aside His royal robe and kingly crown, He came to this earth in lowliness and humility. He stood in this world as a man among men, subject to the temptations of the enemy, but never swerving from loyalty to His heavenly Father. (Ms ) 18 18

22 It would have been an almost infinite humiliation for the Son of God to take man s nature, even when Adam stood in his innocence in Eden. But Jesus accepted humanity when the race had been weakened by four thousand years of sin. Like every child of Adam He accepted the results of the working of the great law of heredity. What these results were is shown in the history of His earthly ancestors. He came with such a heredity to share our sorrows and temptations, and to give us the example of a sinless life. 23 To Pastor F. G. Clifford, President Australasian Inter-Union Conference, April 23, 1956, Roy Allan Anderson wrote, referring to the work he had been doing with Barnhouse and Martin on correcting their understanding of Adventists view of righteousness: For instance, one of the vice presidents of the General Conference said to me a few days ago, I cannot see how anybody could charge us with teaching righteousness by works. I replied, Did you hear the good brother pray in worship this morning? 23 23

24 Well, it happened that he was not at worship so I quoted the exact words with which this good brother closed his prayer. And he is a good man, holding a responsible position in our work here. Never once in that prayer did he thank the Lord for the salvation which is ours in Christ; that we have passed from death to life; that we have at the throne of grace One who can understand our infirmities

25 No, he never referred to Christ at all; but he did ask that God would remember the missionaries and those of the General Conference who are traveling, and so forth, all of which was important. And then he climaxed his prayer with these actual words: And Lord, when Thou comest into Thy kingdom, may we have lived so faithfully and done our work so well that we can be saved. Now Brother Clifford, that is really tragic

26 Just as Christ s life was a union of divinity and humanity, so righteousness by faith involves justification and sanctification. You don t have one without the other. We are saved by grace, a reward is given every man according to his works
