2 Welcome to Worship Welcome to St. Paul Church. We are glad you are here! 9:00 am Traditional Worship Service in the Sanctuary 11:00 am Celebration Worship Service in Heritage Hall Information for our friends... Weekly Sunday morning services ~ Our 9am Traditional Service is inspired with hymns and has Children s Church. Bring your children to attend service, after our Children s time, go for a lesson & kids can be picked up in the Welcome Center after service. Try our relaxed family-friendly 11am Celebration Service. The B Street Band is proud to share their contemporary Christian music and welcomes you to listen and sing along. Please feel free to try one or both styles of worship. The Nursery is open during 9 am services, and is the first classroom in the hallway off the sanctuary. If the small person who is with you gets wiggly, there are toys & books to enjoy. Hearing devices, large print bulletins, and large Bibles (in church library) are available, please see your ushers if you have any questions. Our Worship Service is broadcast on KSTL-690 AM radio & streamed on Jubilee690.com at 9am Sundays and repeated at 9pm. We want to know you!! Please sign the Pew Pad today. Please stand if able PRELUDE Prelude in Classic Style Gordon Young CALL TO WORSHIP One: Jesus challenges us in today s gospel: Many: Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all. One: Then Jesus took a little child and he said to them his followers; Many: Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. And whoever welcomes me welcomes not only me but the one who sent me. One: We are still learning today what Jesus came to teach us two thousand years ago. To change the world we must change the way we love and welcome all children! Many: May we learn to love all children as if they are our own! Welcome, children! INVOCATION (Unison) Dear God, Jesus has called us to welcome children as a way to welcome you. So please, hear our voices as we welcome the children in our midst: We welcome you in the name of Jesus Christ! And please, dear God of compassion and justice, hear our voices: With the presence of our children we welcome you! Teach us the way to make the last first and to be servants of all. Guide us in your way of humility and service. Show us how to become disciples of Jesus Christ your Child and our Brother. We ask for blessings on all your children in our holy family. 5 +PRAYER OF RECONCILIATION One: Let us think about all the children in our own lives, our community s life, and in our world. What are their needs; where do we fail as individuals and community in welcome, nurture and care for them? (Moment of Silence) All: Dear God, we often have not welcomed the children as Jesus has commanded. Too many children in our community and world suffer from violence, abuse, neglect and poverty. We know that if we were to join together to welcome and care, to celebrate and honor our children, we would save ourselves and our world. We need forgiveness. We want to make amends. We want to change. We want to learn to welcome all children. In loving and caring for them, we welcome your reign of justice and peace. Amen. +ASSURANCE OF GRACE One: We give thanks for our savior and teacher Jesus Christ, who was born among us as a child needing nurture and care, and grew to reveal your power to make all things new. Although downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm, communi3es are experiencing mass flooding. The large scope of devasta3on is just beginning to be known. The UCC is responding. Last week Super Typhoon Mangkhut (AKA as Ompong) created devasta3on in the Philippines, and also wreaked havoc in Hong Kong, China and other parts of Asia. Landslides, wind, and rain have claimed many lives, while others are missing. The UCC is responding. More storms are churning. Stay up-to-date on the UCC response. Your dona3on helps the UCC respond quickly to immediate disaster and long-term recovery needs. Our ac3ons focus on the most vulnerable by addressing injus3ce, responding to the whole community, and filling gaps in service.
